He predicted the body-piercing frenzy about 15 years in advance.I Love You
Jerry Jeff wrote this song for his wife Susan, and it appears on his 1975 album Ridin' High.
I'd like to give you everything you'd ever want, love
Diamond rings for every toe
Danglin' earrings for your fingers
Big sparkling rocks for your nose
He was ahead of his time.He predicted the body-piercing frenzy about 15 years in advance.
This is another album I had and loved back in college. This song is a forgotten favorite, thanks for jogging my memory.
Brian Setzer Mrs. Rannous Chains Around Your Heart
I heard traces of Pink Floyd's One of These Days and the old novelty song They're Coming to Take Me Away, Ha-Haa! and then was kind of mesmerized by the rest. :added:
Steve Albini Oliver Humanzee Shellac - Crow
Didn't realize until listening that I was in the right mood to hear this one. Really like.

Drafted Cowboys From Hell in Summerpolloza yesterdayNice, that brings back some memories. Our go to was Pantera's Cowboys from Hell.STP #10 - Crackerman
Album - Core (1992)
No deep lyrics or meaning to this one. Of all the massive hits on their debut album, this was one of my personal favorites. I always loved the groove on this one and it never gets old.
Roamin', roamin', roam
I think this is my top STP song of all time. We’d rock it on the way to swim meets.
Thats amazing. This happened for me with Brian Setzer. It's my number one track.Next Up - Every time we pick an artist for these things, the hope is that we find a track we havent heard before and fall in love with it. The next one from the Sweet is one that I had no idea existed. It stiffed as a single, yet contains all the classic ingredients of the big hits.
(And I love the "Peppermint Twist".)
No covers for my current artist. There will defintely be 1 cover from my Round 4 artist, but they're probably as well if not more well known for the song than the original artist.
Annie Lennox has three albums of covers. No covers for my current artist. There will defintely be 1 cover from my Round 4 artist, but they're probably as well if not more well known for the song than the original artist.
My next artist will have at least one. Possibly 11, depending when we run the next one.
My artist has 7 official albums, 2 of which are Christmas. She has more singles, collaborations and other tracks. And how are we on Christmas album? Slade, Setzer, and Lennox all have them.

Miss a couple of days in this thread and you miss a lot
I'll never forget seeing them in the late 90's. Opened with this, Scott lizarding around like a gd maniac blaring lyrics through a bullhorn then Dean absolutely shredded the solo. Incredible performance and became my favorite of theirs from then on.STP #10 - Crackerman

Let’s Do It Again is a 1975 film. Comedy action type film starring Sidney Poitier and Bill Cosby (but I haven’t seen it). Curtis Mayfield was asked to write the soundtrack for it (like some others that I have posted, he wrote, produced, and played guitars on it). He knew The Staple Singers from their time touring together, and asked them to sing it. It took a little bit of cajoling because the lyrics were a bit more sexual than The Staple Singers were used to, but the results were great. Also had some influence in popular culture with a young Christopher Wallace (aka Notorious BIG), as Todd Mayfield describes below.
Just set to record. Thanks for the heads-up. Looks like airing it as part of Ossie Davis as star of the day.Let's Do It Again the movie is showing on TCM this Tuesday morning. Based on its title and stars, I always assumed it was a sequel to Uptown Saturday Night and I suppose it is in a way but Poitier and Cosby play characters with different names from the first one
I missed this the first time around. That is awesome! This happened for me with Brian Setzer. Not officially. Zegras has said he would keep doing these, and people have mentioned here and there they are narrowing down possibilities for a part 4. I think Mrs. R is the only one to officially state who she is doing. Are we putting claims in for round 4 already?
Of the 2 artists I am considering next, I am aware of one cover recorded by one of them and no covers recorded by the other. So you can breathe a sigh of relief. Not officially. I am much more afraid of Mrs. R's post about Christmas albums than I am of any covers people are throwing into the mix for their artists.Of the 2 artists I am considering next, I am aware of one cover recorded by one of them and no covers recorded by the other. If you like a song when you first hear it, then find out it's a cover, do you like it less?I am much more afraid of Mrs. R's post about Christmas albums than I am of any covers people are throwing into the mix for their artists.Of the 2 artists I am considering next, I am aware of one cover recorded by one of them and no covers recorded by the other. Also, admittedly much of my aversion to covers stems from my ignorance about the bands and their histories. My negative and cynical side thought for years they were the musical version of remakes/sequels in movies. So as I read more about the artists and where they are coming from, it at least changes my initial thinking about covers. I am trying. On my working playlist for next Round, I had as many as 4 covers. If/when we get to it, we will see if any made the cut.
That said, I still don't like them in regular albums when I listen and my most negative reactions to songs in MAD v3 has been from covers. When there are 30+ people and personalities doing these things, no way people are picking stuff that hits with everybody.

You can also occasionally find her as a guest on Perry Mason. My father is quite smitten with her. And IIRC, she was married to fellow Emergency! cast member Bobby Troupe, who also has one of the great one line scenes in movies; In M*A*S*H*, he was Hawkeye and Trapper's jeep driver when they were in Japan, and annoyed by the whole chaos of the scene, he said ****** army...****** army...****** army jeep!Julie London was Peter Tosh's mother.Asking for a friend - do either make reggae music?Oh, you will my friend.....you willNo idea who either are.I'm gonna choose someone like Julie London to balance it out for KPOf the 2 artists I am considering next, I am aware of one cover recorded by one of them and no covers recorded by the other. Joking.
She was an MOR singer in the 50s and 60s and, as far as I know, did nothing but covers of popular songs. She later turned up playing a nurse on the early 70s show Emergency!
No, not at all. Most of the time when I find out I listen to the original for a comparison. I figure no matter which I like better, chances are I get some new music I like. There have been a few times in the MADs were I have preferred the cover - the Hoffs one I mentioned this time and there was a Nina Simone I liked more last round off the top of my head.If you like a song when you first hear it, then find out it's a cover, do you like it less?I am much more afraid of Mrs. R's post about Christmas albums than I am of any covers people are throwing into the mix for their artists.Of the 2 artists I am considering next, I am aware of one cover recorded by one of them and no covers recorded by the other. I have to. I'm listening to all of the material I can find. I'm seven albums in for Ms Lennox. There are only 18 this time. Setzer had 36, not including the Christmas albums.
