Midseason QB decisions (1 Viewer)

Due to injuries/ineffectiveness, we've had a few QB changes in the past month or so and will have another one in Week 9.

Just wondering how people would rank the QBs who might be available on your WW if you were desperate. Imagine you own Drew Brees and because his bye week is passed, you dropped your backup. Now he gets hurt and you look at the WW and see:

Alex Smith

Josh Freeman

Chad Henne

Vince Young

Who would you be looking to pick up?

That's a tough list, as they are all QBs for struggling and/or run-first O's.

Due to his rushing yardage, I'd be looking hard at Young... and with the emergence of Vernon Davis and what I saw out of Crabtree last week, Alex Smith is in the discussion. -Don't love either of these QBs, but they'd be the way I'd be looking first. Now if Henne was allowed to pass a bit more, I'd give him more consideration, but since that isn't the case, I like VY and Smith the most of this group.

I would try Smith first. You will get rushing yards with him too. Hill had stretches where he had solid not spectacular numbers. If you take that add rushing, you get a very good backup.

Young is more boom/bust. You could get 30 points out of him (multiple TDs, 80+ rush yards, only 1 or 2 TOs). You could get less than 0 (no TDs, any stats outweighed by TOs). I don't think that's what you want out of a backup.

If there's an owner that needs a QB, I might go Young just to block the chance of losing on a big day. If I'm assuming the other guys are going to bench the QB too, Smith should be safer (although he's had plenty of 3+ TO games too).

Smith

Young

Henne

Freeman

I actually don't like ranking Henne that low, I like the kid, but MIA seems pretty comfortable with that Wishbone they have down there, so I think his chances, especially in the red zone, are limited.

You have to like Young 2nd, just because of the rushing yards. And if you are in a league that rewards nervous breakdowns, he's :money:
