Mike Bell--trading scenarios (1 Viewer)

Well, now what do we do?

Obviously, if you're in a league deep enough that you were sort of counting on M. Bell to be a key backup or maybe a spot starter, then you are thrilled about last night and you hold on to him.

But in many leagues, I'm guessing that some of us probably already had good starters and depth at RB, and just took a late-round flier on M. Bell or grabbed him off the waiver wire, in hopes that he would pan out. Well, seemingly after last night's performance, our hopes have been realized (he should at least have some trade value now, anyway).

Denver Post story from the Blogger

If M. Bell 2006 = M. Anderson 2005 in Denver, then we're talking 1000+ yards and 10+ TDs.

I know, I know--it's early. Which brings me to my question: trade Bell now? Could you get fair value for him? And what is fair value?

I think the answers to these questions might have changed after last night's performance. What do you guys think?

I think that MBell owners are believers while non-owners are still skeptical (or will certainly still say so in trade talks). If a MBell owner wants full value in trade for him, I'm afraid in most leagues he'll have to wait until a couple of regular season games are played with good stats.

People are skeptical, that's just the way it is. Very similar IMO to Fast Willie Parker last year. People didn't believe until he proved it for real.

I'm a MBell owner and the offers I've received so far haven't motivated me to move him.

I snagged Mike Bell, and I already had depth. But, as Couch Potato said above, only the Mike Bell owners are willing to say he may be a monster this year. One trade option may be possible, where you get the value you want out of him - come up with a trade offer with a conditional clause in it. That way you are letting Mike Bell do the talking. For example, say you own Mike Bell and Matt Hasselbeck, and you also have RB's you like. Teams that have Peyton are typically weak at RB. You could offer Bell and Hass for Peyton, with the stipulation that Bell must get a minimum of 15 carries and no fumbles in week 1.

concur :hey: I dealt him for Heath Miller after he was named starter.I'm still holding him in another league,he has been advertised as "on the block",but no offer as of yet.

What have people been able to get for him? Is Randy Moss too much to ask? Who is leaning towards keeping him and hoping he can fight off Tater and the RBBC. Projections? I'm thinking something like 1100 7/250 2...

I saw the following in one of my dynasty leagues (no ppr):

Team A gave up:

Bell, Mike DEN RB

Dayne, Ron DEN RB

Lundy, Wali HOU RB

Morency, Vernand HOU RB

Lloyd, Brandon WAS WR

Mason, Derrick BAL WR

Team B gave up:

Betts, Ladell WAS RB

Fisher, Tony STL RB

Portis, Clinton WAS RB

Shipp, Marcel ARI RB

Gaffney, Jabar PHI WR

Hass, Mike NOS WR

In order to give up Portis, Team B must be a believer.

I think that is a bit much for him, but it never hurts to ask.I also have him, and I think I will ride the wave into the 1st few games, before I consider trading him, unless I get blown away.

You might need to couple the offer with a WR. But then you might be able to get a lesser RB back too. Of course, all this assumes that he (1) remains the starter in Denver and (2) plays really well. I personally wouldn't trade Randy Moss for him, if I owned Moss.

Ride the wave... production upside is far greater than trade value.

I was at the game last night, and my guess is that he'll easily hold off T Bell. Tatum will be the change of pace back, Mike will play the "Mike Anderson" role from last season. I don't think similar numbers (if not a little less than) to Mike Anderson's from last year are unreasonable at all to expect from him.

I just offered basically the same trade in a dynasty league. If the Portis owner accepts it, I will  Lundy/MorencyM. BellD. Masonfor Portis (I have L Betts already)

I trade M.Bell straight up for Reggie Wayne last week in one of my dynasty leagues. The guys in my league were complaining that I stole R.Wayne. After Saturdays game....I think Reggie Wayne is about right for Bell.

Either Bell or Dayne is going to take the Mike Anderson role in the Broncos offense (#1 lead back, grind it out, give way to Tatum now and then) and that more or less equals 1000 yards/10 TDs. Mason has a very good shot at being an 1000 yard WR and Lloyd has an OK shot. Either Lundy or Morency could end up playing a lot in Houston. Meanwhile even before Portis got hurt there was talk in Washington of Betts getting more carries. Let's say Portis ends up with say 1200 yards and 12 TDs. Team A got the single most productive back in the deal but Team B got a lot more production.
