Mike Bell vs. James Davis (1 Viewer)

I've been reading a lot about these two guys this week and with an upcoming draft will target one late. Bell plays in a vastly better offense but will have to share the ball at least two-, if not three-ways. Cleveland's offense is offensive but Davis could emerge as a full-time starter if Jamal doesn't take his Centrum Silver.

What do the experts here think?

I think you already said it, Bell is in a RBBC and Davis has the chance to become the workhorse on a team with a very solid OL and only an old RB in front of him. Bell has to hope for an injury to make an impact.

I'd take Davis over Bell, for the reasons stated by DeucesWild.

A more interesting comp IMO is Scott from CIN. Kind of a more similar circumstance as Davis', and from what I've read Scott has the edge in talent/upside. Plus it seems Scott is flying further under the radar than Davis is at this point. Davis, you might have to pop a 12th or 13th round pick to get at this point.

I've also been reading the love for Scott on here but still think Benson has more in the tank (plus Scott's fumble returned for a TD the last game doesn't help).

Lewis cannot hold that job and as soon as the team falls out of the playoff race- which should be early- they will have to try and see what they have in Davis- expect him to be the starter by week 8 and he will likely start having a good number of carries before then. great upside

Your point about the fumble is well taken -- that's no way for a rookie to carve out playing time for himself. That said, hasn't Benson had some chronic fumbleitis problems himself over the years? Maybe I'm confusing him with someone else.

well, was this the only fumble for scott in the preseason? If it's the only one, I wouldnt concern myself with it overly much. it can happen to anyone.

The guy I'm thinking about who had fumble problems was Mendenall. If I recall he fumbled a couple of times in pre season, and as such didnt get many touches when he was in the lineup.

I dont think Scott stand a chance to overtake Benson this year , while Davis will get every possible chances .
