Meanwhile, Leach said that Cleveland Browns coach Eric Mangini is to blame for former Texas Tech wide receiver Michael Crabtree falling to the 10th pick in the first round. Reports out of Cleveland said that the Browns didn't like Crabtree's attitude when he visited the team prior to the draft.

"Michael Crabtree has been more successful as a receiver than that guy as a coach at this point," Leach said of Mangini, according to the Sacramento Bee. "Part of the reason is [Crabtree's] too shy to be like that."

Leach said Crabtree isn't a "diva."

"My definition of a diva is someone who's loud and self-absorbed," Leach told the Bee. "Michael Crabtree is the furthest thing from loud that I've seen. ... Let's see how all those non-divas do up in Cleveland this year."

I saw this on Saturday.Teams with Top 10 picks are going to do their due diligence and have possible choices in to make judgments for themselves. It's not like Al Davis said "Oh no! Mangini said he was a diva this week! Let's go with Heyward-Bey instead."

Crabtree's limited participation in the combine and other workouts is the main reason he slipped to #10. Pro personnel guys love their measurables.

Have another cheeseburger, Leach.

Hmm. Not so sure about that one...

i always got the feeling that crabtree was full of himself from those path to the draft shows. maybe thats me just being too judgmental.

i suspect Cleveland was more concerned with saving money in this years draft than anything...why else do you trade down 3 times and then reach for a Center?

So, question...does this mean that Cleveland will still be looking to move Quinn and possibly ride with Anderson for the 2009 season to allow this guy to develop a little?

Choke on this, Leach

Browns sign Graham Harrell.
"The truth of the matter is that the NFL drafts quarterbacks notoriously bad. That's indisputable. ... I don't have an answer for why they don't have a skill for drafting a quarterback. Well, I think the priorities are out of order. Accurate and makes good decisions needs to be a priority, not something they need to teach him, because they don't do that very well. Arm strength is so overrated. I've got defensive ends with great arm strength, but they aren't accurate. Hey, maybe Brandon Williams can help them at quarterback. He's got a really strong arm."
Love Leach

Good breakdown. As for trading down for monetary reasons, yeah, it's a factor if you're not completely in love with what's up there. Look at what the Jets are going to give Sanchez; we can pay Mack plus most of our second round picks with it. As for reaching for the pick; center was a need as Fraley was getting bullied at the line of scrimmage and Lewis runs better with a center with a good initial push. Plus, this guy was on Pittsburgh's radar as well.

Signing Harrell doesn't mean that at all. The only way Harrell doesn't get cut before September 1 is if we deal DA, right now the pecking order is1a. Quinn1b (and I use that term very loosely). DA3. RatliffIf we like what we see and don't trade any of the above three hopefully we can re-sign Harrell to the practice squad.
