Mike Masse covers (1 Viewer)

He's been mentioned here before in the favorite covers thread and I think elsewhere but I thought he deserves his own thread.

This guy is insanely talented and is actually touring now.  He started playing in a pizzeria over a decade ago in Salt Lake City and was just recently playing a Beatles cover in Liverpool.  Insane.  It looks like he's coming here in a couple months and I'll probably head out to see him.

If you read about him, his son was diagnosed with cancer several years ago and has since been cancer free that I've seen.

Anyway, you can spend hours listening to some of his amazing covers.  My personal favorites are his Simon and Garfunkel covers here:

Scarborough Fair

The Sound of Silence

The Boxer

Those Pie Pizzeria performances are all freakin amazing. I think I watched all of them back in the day. Crazy that he was playing those covers that well, singing like that in front of 5-10 people who couldn't care less. Once he went viral though and started putting out new stuff it morphed into something a little weird. Those videos he was making, the performances into the camera, it went from organic awesomeness to forced oddness. Amazing singer obviously. The duets with the bassist were so great.

At one point was watching nothing but Masse and Presnyakov videos.

Obviously "Africa" put him on the map and remains my favorite. Another great one I watch from time to time is No Excuses (albeit not with Jeff Hall, but rather two other guys).

Had the opportunity to see him in London about 3-4 years ago while I happened to be there on business - this is before he started touring a lot. Amazing experience I'll always remember.

Didn't realize that - didn't hear about him until Africa and that's when it seemed like he exploded virally. Wouldn't be the first time I've been late to the game .
Yeah, Africa was what first turned me onto him.

Glad to hear he was great to hear live. Makes my decision to see him easier.
