Mike Vick's Dynasty Value (1 Viewer)

The vast majority of us Vick owners didn't pay much to grab him this year, and out of that group most of us would probably like to trade him sooner rather than later to shore up a positional need or just grab an extra draft pick before the inevitable injury occurs. Obviously, unless you have the big 3 you are plugging him and the market isn't ready to get the max value out of him.

So the question: What is Michael Vick's dynasty trade value? Is he worth a first round dyno pick? Would you ask for more than a first rounder? For example, a first and third?

If you are looking for players, who is a good target? If you are in win now mode it's easy to go after another RB or WR that might have 2 or 3 years left like Frank Gore or Wes Welker so it's beneficial to both teams. But is going after players on the verge of their run like Ben Tate or Gio Bernard aiming to high or low? Is a player like Christine Michael worth the gamble or would you have to have a 2nd/3rd/4th to accompany him? Just trying to get a gauge on what you are looking for in dynasty leagues when/if a couple QB's go down and the market is ripe.

Dynasty value on Vick fluctuates wildly between low veteran "ready-for-the-wheelchair" value in the off season and tier 1 QB value during the season. It would be wise to move him during the season if you have a viable backup plan.

With Foles on the roster it is clear that the Eagles are ready for Vick if/when he moves on. Vick is just too good still to see him going to a different team or retiring. I think he will be one of those guys who suffers an injury and just calls it quits. He will definitely just fall off a cliff in terms of value. The problem is that could be next year, or in 4 years.

I can only tell you what I would give back in dynasty. If you offered me Vick for Tate or Bernard, I would refuse, the value is not really close there in my opinion. For draft picks, its tough, personally, if I needed a QB to put my team over the top and it was week 8-10, Vick is still healthy and dominant, I'd do it for a first and take the gamble. Right now, I wouldn't give up a first though, I'd easily do a second, but I assume the Vick owner would want more than just a second.

I would do it for Christine Michael however straight up, or Lattimore or any prospect of that caliber. Vick for Gore or Welker would also be fair.

Michael is worth infinity Vicks. You can't add up enough Vicks to get Michael.

Gore is a good comparable. Father time is ticking for both players, but they both offer short term upside.

I think getting a 1st for Vick is tough. Has to be a drastic need, like midseason injury on a dominant team.

A 2nd is light but at some point your are gambling how many starts Vick has left in his career. The NFL market on a 33 yo fragile QB is light, and there are maybe 5 franchise QBs (QBOTFs) coming next year.

:goodposting: Michael for Vick? Yeah right -- not remotely close with any owner that halfway knows what they're doing.

Vick is worth more in your lineup than you'll ever get in return for trading him unless there is a rash of QB injuries suddenly at the end of the year. He's old. He's not a great bet to play 16 games. There are more decent+ fantasy starting QBs than there are teams in most leagues outside of those that can start 2 QBs. Just ride him and hope he's healthy during your playoff weeks.

people are fearful that hes going to be KO'd soon
He could also get benched soon, if he keeps turning the ball over and the team keeps losing. At some point kelly is going to need to see if Foles and/or Barkley can run his offense with Vick at 33-34 years of age and constantly banged up.

Are we that sure though with Christine Michael? I mean, if Seattle decides to throw a two or three year extension marshawns way he will be another guy burning a hole in your roster for a few years. How much confidence is there in here that Michael will take the first snap in Seattle in 2014?

There's probably close to zero chance that Michael starts next year. But it doesn't matter. Lynch got his extension prior last year, but there's a decent chance he's released prior to the 2015 season when he'll be 29 and his salary goes up to $7.5 million. And even if he stays, they're not going to re-up him at 30.
