Mike O'Hara, of the Detroit News, reports the Detroit Lions held WR Mike Williams out of minicamp Friday, June 2, as a disciplinary move. Head coach Rod Marinelli said, "I excused him on a team issue." Marinelli refused to expand on his statement and say why Williams was disciplined.
Lions | More about M. Williams

Tom Kowalski, of mlive.com, reports Detroit Lions WR Mike Williams, who didn't practice Wednesday, May 31, because of a minor injury, is believed to have violated a team rule, but details were not available. That violation forced head coach Rod Marinelli to banish Williams from the last two days of minicamp. Last year, Williams was fined often for two continuing problems: being overweight and being late to meetings. A source close to the situation said weight was not an issue this time. Marinelli said Williams is expected to return to the team next week.
This guy appears to not be getting it. After having to sit out year from trying to enter the draft early, you would think this guy would be chomping at the bit to play. Last year, nothing special, but the experts say that it would take a bit for him to get back into game shape and back into the swing fo things. Sure, that was understandable. Now, the guy shows up overweight, which is not the biggest issue because many do that. When you take that into cosideration and now getting into trouble with the team for breaking rules (minor or not)...he just doesn't seem to get it.

Maybe he just had the God gien athletic talent and knew he was the top guy at USC, but he doesn't seem to have the drive. Funny thing is that I don't remember hearing anything about him being a problem at USC or having an attitude. I know it's still early and the book shouldn't be closed on the him just yet, but for dynasty owners...you have to start wondering and maybe even start to worry a bit. Shame if he doesn't turn it around because he was something real special in college.
