Mike Williams fined more than $400,000 last year (1 Viewer)

If he gets cut before his 2nd year, he could be one of the largest busts in history... so bad that the team who drafted him in the top 10 wouldn't even give him a 2nd chance.

However, if he does get cut, he will get picked up and get a fresh shot somewhere. But he's got a long road ahead of him.

moved to live a half mile away to rectify being late...lmao. Maybe this year he can live in the lockerroom and it can be their responsibility to wake him

Williams could have some difficulty making the Lions roster this season. Roy Williams and Corey Bradford are expected to be the starting wide receivers with Mike Furrey in the slot and No. 3 position. Because of his kick return abilities, Eddie Drummond will fill the No. 6 receiver spot. That leaves Charles Rogers, Scottie Vines, Glenn Martinez and Mike Williams to battle for the final two roster spots at No. 4 and No. 5 on the depth chart.
that's interesting

Its also a bit surprising because your 4-5 WRs need to be playing some serious STs, which Rogers and Williamsl are probably not up for ...Would they cut both? How shocking and embarassing ...

I think they will keep both and force them to ST. Marinelli is a super hard-###, and I bet he gets through to them once they see what Martz turns Roy Williams into.

He was overhyped, pre-draft. Because he doesn't have the ability to be a Receiver, he's inbetween a slow possesion Receiver and a small Tight End. What's worse, that pick could've been Derrick Johnson, Shawne Merriman or Jammal Brown, yikes.

Am starting to notice a lot of similarities between Williams and LenDale White

- Both benefited from playing at USC

- Both tend to be out of shape

- Both seem to lack responsibility and respect

The sad thing for Detroit is, Mike Williams might go down as one of the biggest WR busts in history... but he's not even the biggest WR bust on his team. He's not even the biggest WR bust drafted in the last 3 and a half years by the Detroit Lions.

The way that Detroit's hurting for a quality WR to start opposite Roy Williams, I'm surprised they didn't draft one in the first round or anything. That Santonio Holmes kid was still around, and I hear he has a ton of talent. :hophead:

According to terms of the NFL's Collective Bargaining Agreement, the Lions could impose a maximum penalty of $457 per pound per day that Williams was overweight.
Also, did anyone else find this absolutely fascinating?I wonder how they came up with that value. And is that per WHOLE pound you're overweight, or do you have to pay for partial pounds, too? Do they weigh you before or after lunch? And who decides what qualifies as "overweight"? Is it mandated by position? And if so, what's the weight limit for punters (I know their is one, or else why would Sauerbrun be on Ephedra)? And if there is no league-mandated weight limits, what's to prevent a coach from going to a play that he didn't like and setting his weight limit at 80 pounds? Am I the only one who wonders these things?

I might be wrong since I haven't actually seen the figures, but I'm pretty sure Mike Williams can't be cut because of the cap hit. They'll have to hold him even if its just to languish on the bench.
