Mike Williams (Sea) (1 Viewer)

Marshall is ranked 18th and he's reportedly out for multiple weeks. I think they just kinda quit trying this week.

Seahawks coach Pete Carroll said Monday that Mike Williams' (foot) status going forward will depend on "how he responds" to treatment.

The Seahawks don't seem to know exactly what's wrong. "He did something very unusual to his foot," said Carroll. "It might not be as serious as we originally thought, but we're going to have to wait and see how he responds." Carroll revealed that Williams "felt something pop," which is never a good sign. Fantasy owners should be making other plans for Week 12.

 I also heard commentary that some players walk around in this boot all week and then play on Sunday. I'm taking the grab Obamanu and wait and see approach.

I was worried as its a "rare" injury. Now I read that seattle brought in dwayne jarrett and bobby engram for workouts. I'm terrified.

If you don't need BMW this week, would you hold onto him? I'm getting the vibe that this injury is pretty bad and he may not be back for several weeks, if at all.

I'm holding. I also just lost Nicks. BMW was playing too well to cut him just to find out the injury wasn't that serious and someone else has him for the playoffs.

no real news

Seahawks WR Mike Williams (foot) missed practice on Wednesday.

Fantasy owners should not be counting on Williams for Week 12 (which also makes Matt Hasselbeck an unattractive Week 12 option). B.M.W. was still in a protective walking boot on Wednesday. The Seahawks have indicated that Williams' injury is "unusual," offering no timetable for him to return.

Seattle Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll said receiver Mike Williams has a strained left foot and his ankle is still in a boot, so he will not practice today. But Carroll remains hopeful that Williams can play on Sunday.

“He’s not going to do anything today, he’s still in the boot,” Carroll said. “But there’s an optimism about the injury itself, that he might be able to come back.”
Williams Sit Out

Also from the coach today:

"It seems like, from what I'm hearing from the trainers and the doctors, that... it's improving from this point forward and there is not a concern about it continuing to worsen," Carroll said Wednesday. "So it's just (a matter of) how long does it take him to get well enough to where he can go full speed."

"Unusual" foot injury? Did he step on a stone fish on the 30-yard line or something?

Doesn't look promising:

Williams' foot injury Seattle's biggest question

By TIM BOOTH - AP Sports Writer

2010-11-24 18:28

RENTON, Wash. (AP) -Matt Hasselbeck talked Wednesday about the ease of throwing to Seattle wide receiver Mike Williams, especially when he's in single coverage.

Then Hasselbeck proceeded to say he's not planning on Williams playing this week when the Seahawks host AFC West leading Kansas City.

It's not the words Seattle wanted to hear especially, with the rise of its passing game in the past few weeks.

``Right now I'm treating it like he cannot go. That's really how I'm going into it - that's how I'm studying film, that's how I think this game plan is set up, as if he's not playing,'' Hasselbeck said. ``So if he can play that would just be an added bonus.''

Williams is the biggest unknown for the Seahawks going into Sunday's home game against the Chiefs.

Coach Pete Carroll didn't provide much of an update on the left foot injury Williams suffered late in Sunday's loss at New Orleans. Carroll gave a vague description of Williams' injury, calling it a ``foot strain'' while also saying the specifics of the injury are something doctors haven't seen.

Carroll said Williams has responded well to treatment during the past few days. Williams did not participate in practice and was again in a walking boot on Wednesday, same as he was after Sunday's game.

``It seems like, from what I'm hearing from the trainers and the doc, that it's the worst it's already been and it's improving from this point forward and there's not a concern about it continuing to worsen,'' Carroll said. ``It's just how long does it take it to get well enough to where he can go full-speed.''

In the last six weeks Williams has caught 41 of his 52 passes, including two games with 11 receptions and another with 10. Williams had six catches for 109 yards last week against New Orleans.

Williams' increased catches have coincided with increased production from Hasselbeck. Seattle has mostly abandoned trying to establish its running game the past two weeks, instead relying on Hasselbeck and an increased aggressiveness throwing downfield.

The result: the past two games have been among the 12 best yards passing games in Hasselbeck's career. Hasselbeck threw for 333 yards against Arizona, then picked on the Saints' secondary for 366 yards last Sunday, the fourth-highest total of his career.

``I'm not sure we've ever been so dependent on one guy just winning one-on-one matchups,'' Hasselbeck said. ``I think we've been more dependent on guys knowing what to do and doing it with the right timing and that kind of thing. And then the system just sort of works that way. But Mike is a guy that if you get him one-on-one, you take advantage. You go for it.''

Along with the Williams uncertainty, the Seahawks are always waiting to see about guard Chester Pitts and cornerback Marcus Trufant.

Pitts seems the most unlikely to play on Sunday. Carroll wouldn't rule Pitts out with an ankle injury suffered against New Orleans, but spoke as if Mike Gibson or Tyler Polumbus will start at left guard on Sunday.

Trufant suffered a concussion early against the Saints and is undergoing the league-mandated concussion testing. Carroll said Trufant will have a significant exam on Thursday that will go a long way in determining if he'll be cleared to play against the Chiefs.

Wednesday in Hawkville

A recap of the day’s activities:

FOCUS ON

Mike Williams. The Seahawks’ leading receiver has responded well to treatment for the foot he strained in Sunday’s loss to the Saints in New Orleans, but his status remains day-to-day for this week’s game against the Kansas City Chiefs at Qwest Field.

“There’s an optimism about the injury itself that he might be able to come back,” coach Pete Carroll said. “This is one that we haven’t seen. It’s a new thing that he’s got so we have to kind of see how it goes, and go day-to-day with it.”

Williams did not practice today, but he is off the crutches he was using after Sunday’s game and wearing a protective boot on the injured foot.

Asked if he thought Williams would be able to play against the Chiefs, Carroll said, “We can’t tell yet. I don’t know until he’s able get out and run around. I do know that Mike can make it through the week. He was banged up a couple weeks ago (with a bruised thigh), barely got some work and was able to contribute some.

“So we’ll be hopeful that if that is this week’s story, maybe by Friday he gets some work and we’ll see where he fits in.”

Quarterback Matt Hasselbeck is preparing as if Williams won’t play against the Chiefs, but hoping he will be in the lineup.

“Right now, I’m treating it like he cannot go,” Hasselbeck said. “That’s really how I’m going into it, that’s how I’m studying film; I think that’s how this game plan is set up – as if he’s not playing.

“If he can play, that would just be an added bonus. But this is an opportunity for guys to step up.”

The way Williams has stepped up since he was signed in April after being out of the league for two years definitely has been a bonus for the Seahawks’ passing game. He leads the club with 52 receptions and 654 receiving yards. In the past six games, he has caught passes for 100-plus yards three times and also had games with 10, 11 and 11 receptions.

“I’m not sure we’ve ever been so dependent on one guy just winning one-on-one matchups,” said Hasselbeck, who is in his 10th season with the team. “I think we’ve been more dependent on guys knowing what to do and doing it with the right timing, and the system just sort of works that way.

“But Mike’s a guy that if you get him one-on-one, you take advantage. You go for it.”

No matter how it might look.

“You hear the announcer sometimes on the TV copy of our games say, ‘Oh, it’s obvious that they’re picking on this corner,’ ” Hasselbeck said. “That’s like not even close to being true. We just throw to Mike.”

Without Williams on the practice field today, Ben Obomanu worked for him at split end, with Deon Butler moving back in at flanker. Obomanu has started the past two games at flanker.

No link but was listening to ESPN radio and Clayton said "I don't see any way he will play this weekend.".

He really didn't expand to much as to what the injury actually was or why he thought that way.

For the third straight day, receiver Mike Williams did not practice for the Seattle Seahawks, wearing a boot to protect his strained left foot while he watched from the sideline.

Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll said Williams will be a game-time decision, with a chance he could still play on Sunday once trainers work him out during pregame at Qwest Field. Williams was listed as questionable on the team’s injury report

“We’re going to work him out on game day,” Carroll said. “We’re going to hold him out until then, and if he can go, and go full speed, then he’ll be involved.”

If Williams can’t go, Seattle will use a combination of Deon Butler, Golden Tate and Brandon Stokley to replace his production on the perimeter, with Ben Obomanu likely staying at his spot as the team’s starting flanker.

Anyone starting Obomanu in BMW's place? I grabbed him in one of my BMW leagues where I have other injury issues. I think Obomanu has a shot to have a pretty good day seeing how Flowers is doubtful.

Thinking of starting hims over Knox/Amendola

Just an FYI, but Hasselback has thrown for more than 1 TD exactly once so far this year, and that was 10 week ago. So while Obomanu might be that guy this week, betting on him is somewhat akin to betting on the lottery.

Grabbed him in the ppr league where I own BMW. He'll start for me if BMW can't go.

I'll be debating between him or Hines Ward if Mike Williams can't go. I'll probably end up choosing Ward again, and picking incorrectly. It's a weekly event.

I will be playing Obo. He is to me a lock a for 60 - 80 yards with upside of 110 and 1 TD.

I love playing people like this as my last flex player. It gives you a lock of some average points instead of a complete flop and a decent chance at some upside. In fact, I'm playing Obo over Steve Smith (not a huge surprise).

Anyone think that golde Tate could be the play here? When Tate was healthy he received 21 targets in 5 games compared to 19 for Obu on 6 games.

Think I may roll with Knox instead since A. Samuel is out this week.

go with Knox - Tate is an unproven rookie

knox has been pretty productive from a yards standpoint but never catches tds. hes gonna go 1100 and 1 lol for the yr.

Any updates?

ETA: “Today they looked at him and there wasn’t a lot of improvement, so we’ve got to wait and see …,” Carroll told reporters during his regular Monday press conference. “We’ll have to go day-to-day, and we’ll rest him until he’s ready to run fast, until he can really go. We’re not going to push him back on this thing until we get it resolved.”

Williams did not practice last week, wearing a protective boot and watching from the side; he was ruled out by trainers after a pregame workout Sunday. Carroll said he would like for Williams to practice a day or two this week before he determines if he can play Sunday against visiting Carolina.

Williams’ status will affect on how Seattle prepares offensively for Carolina.

“We’ll talk about that,” Carroll said. “We’re going to talk about that and try to make an assessment. We won’t really know for a few days which way that’s going to go. You’ll know about when we do – probably Friday or Saturday or something like that, what way we’re leaning.”

Williams has been a playmaker for Seattle this season. He leads the team in receptions with 52 for 654 yards and a touchdown. He has three 100-yard receiving games, so defenses have to account for the 6-foot-5 receiver.

“It was a tough deal, not having Mike,” Seattle quarterback Matt Hasselbeck said. “He’s been a great player for us. He’s come out of nowhere and done a great job. But we can’t use that as an excuse. … I don’t know what else to say. We’re playing the game anyway, whether he’s ready or not, so we’ve got to figure out a way.

They're owned by me! :pickle:

Are we still left to guess when this so called strain will get better? I wish I had started Obomanu last week...I would have lost by less.

Mike Williams, WR, Seattle Seahawks Wednesday 12/1, 5:48 PM CT

Updating an earlier item, Mike Williams (foot) was able to catch a few passes and run a little in Seahawks practice, according to ESPN's Mike Sando. Earlier reports had said he missed practice entirely.

Our View: Williams found this to be "encouraging," as will his fantasy owners. While he still has a lot of progress to make before Sunday's game against the Panthers, this is obviously a good sign.

Receiver Mike Williams did not practice today, watching from the sidelines. But Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll said Williams did some running around today, and will do even more on Thursday with the hope that he can play on Sunday.

“I threw to him just to see him move, and he’s made some progress,” Carroll said. “So we’ll see what happens with each day. He’ll run around considerably more, and we’ll see where he is. It was encouraging today though, the he might have a chance to move into some playing opportunity.”

Williams did not wear a protective boot at practice today, however. Along with Williams, offensive lineman Chester Pitts (ankle, defensive tackle Colin Cole (ankle), defensive end Chris Clemons (ankle), cornerback Marcus Trufant (leg) and linebacker Lofa Tatupu (knee).

That can't be the same team though, can it? that would really suck.
why stilll own Torain? or any skin rb?
Just stubborn. Well, I'm enticed by the playoff schedule, reminiscent of his "featured back" role a few weeks ago, and not all that impressed with Keiland Williams. I have a feeling it's going to be James Davis (I know he looked bad last week) or Torain that can possibly provide RB2 numbers during the playoff stretch. But, yeah, I'm a slip of a finger away from dropping his injury-prone butt at any minute this week.

That doesn't sound all that encouraging to me. As a BMW and Obomanu owner, I hope they rest Williams another week so he's completely ready to go in week 14.

Agree, this sounds like even if he does suit up on sunday and play, he'll be in and out of the game all day.

I'll agree that that particular quote isn't terribly encouraging, but I've begun to take coach-speak with a grain of salt. (Yeah, late to that party)... between a coach putting his spin on things, then the media doing a little creative editing, I never know what to expect.

Hopefully we can get some sort of declaration, and avoid the GTD.

Not to be confrontational but I don't read it that way and don't know how you came up with that. Obu owner/wishful thinking maybe? I think the fact that different people are interpreting it different ways says alot about the information coming out of Seattle. IMO, if he starts for Seattle, he starts for me so that could be why I don't read it that way. I don't have alot of other great options though.

I am another one of those BMW and Obomanu owners. I hope BMW is ruled completely out if he is not close to 100%. I do not want to have to decide between those 2 if BMW is supposed to play at a less than 100% capacity. It really is all about me.

Nope, actually a M. Williams owner. Obviously it's coach-speak and we're all trying to read in between the lines, but to me, its the specific words "some" and "opportunity" that led me to my interpretation. It, at least to me, implies that the opportunities, even if he plays, will be limited somewhat. If he simply meant that he has a chance to play, he could have simply come out and said just that, it gives nothing away in terms of a competitive nature. But he doesn't, he adds the "some" and "opportunity". But my guess is as good as yours. It's hard enough to try to interpret coach-speak, it's even harder to interpret coach-speak when the sentence is just plain poor english.

Own both and this is how I read it. I'm rolling with Ob-man. I envision a scenario where even if BMW plays it is only until the game gets out of hand, and since this is CAR that could be fairly early.
