Per CBS:

Leshoure carted with injury: RB Mikel Leshoure was carted off the practice field after sustaining what appeared to be a serious left leg injury on Monday. Leshoure could not put weight on the leg as trainers helped him to the cart. MLive.com believes the injury is to his left foot, not his leg. Leshoure was the Lions' rookie expected to work in tandem with Jahvid Best in the run game this season.

Morice Morris has been battling injury as well. Who could DET bring in. Ricky Williams?

Fortunately for dynasty owners, they're talking the foot and not the knee. We're still 4 weeks away from the regular season so not necessarily a dealbreaker (no pun intended) for owners who were hoping to get a look this year.

I was hoping to grab Best as my #2 with extreme upside in the 4th round or so . Now I will have to grab Best way too early. I can see him jumping to round 2 if he has 1 good pre season game.

Mikel Leshoure - RB - Lions

Mikel Leshoure is out for the season after tearing his Achilles' tendon in Monday's practice.

Wow. Big blow for the Lions and their fans. That just sucks. I hope he recovers and still has a strong future in the league--very fun bulldozer to watch in action.

I traded for Best before the NFL draft and am counting on him fairly heavily, and a guy I don't care for has Leshoure and needs him to be startable... But I really hope this isn't an Achilles tear. I hate seeing players, especially young ones, get career threatening injuries.

Yikes that is to bad for him :(

Def moves him wayyyyyy down on rookie draft charts and moves Best wayyyyy up on startup boards.

Glad I had him ranked way lower than most and stayed completely away from him.

What a shame! He was looking real good in camp and was definitely going to be a big part of the offense this year.

While Best's value does increase, I wouldn't push him up too much higher. Clearly there was a reason that the Lions drafted Leshoure pretty early despite already having Best in the fold - to handle the grinding, between-the-tackles work. I would expect that the Lions will find someone via free agency - or maybe even a trade - to take over that role. I'm not sure who is left, but a Ricky Williams might have something left in the tank to handle the pounding.

Whoever they get (if anyone) will probably dictate Best's increased value.

Either way though, you definitely have to feel for Leshoure.

In rookie drafts, I would guess it drops him to round 2 (although being an achilles versus an ACL, personally, I would not touch him 'til Round 3). As far as Best goes? One of the best sleepers going into 2011, just woke up. I never thought Leshore would do the damage against Best's stats that many thought (we will never know), but Best was a 1st rounder just last year...we seem to forget that, plus how he broke out on the scene. if he can stay healthy, I would say his floor is top 20 RB with his ceiling being top 5 (again, all based on a healthy year).

Leshoure drops down to a 4th round gamble at best.

Best increases in value temporarily but they'll find another RBBC-mate somewhere even if it's Morris, Smith, or Ricky. Snelling would have been a great fit if he held out just a couple more days.

Bringing back Kevin Smith would make the most sense.
They didn't seem to value Smith very highly, and he'd likely be behind Morris and possibly Brown as well.Ricky could make sense, Linehan would be a link with him from Miami. Rumor has it Tashard Choice is very available as well.

:goodposting: Was thinking the exact same thing. Leshoure was drafted for a reason. And in dynasty, now might be the perfect time for Best owners to cash in on his perceived value.

What?
Achilles is a devastating injury. He probably will never be 100%. Like Demaryius, he was such a high pick, the Lions are going to give him a chance to get worked slowly back into it and 2013 is really his chance to become fantasy relevant again. Waiting 2 years on a RB who might be 80% of what Leshoure was this morning is not a valuable piece. Look at another RB: Andre Brown is a 4th round pick instead of 2nd, but look at his history since suffering the injury - 6 teams, 2 career carries. I liked Leshoure coming into the league, but he's a long term gamble. RBs going in the 4th whether it's Fannin, Deon Lewis, Royster, Ridley, what have you, are going to have a chance to at least gain in value. Leshoure's going to take a roster spot on your team for a long time before you get any return or even know what is left there after his recovery.

Oh. 4th round of a dynasty rookie draft.Got it.

So who's the add? I rolled with Kevin Smith but I am sure that was the wrong move as it'll probably be someone not currently on the team.

Yep. I was hoping to get Best in Round 4 or later in my re-draft - but now there's a good chance he doesn't make it out of the third.
