Came across a new mobile company advertised on TV today. They offer phone plans for $15.00 a month (2GB of 4G data) but the catch is that you "buy it in bulk". So you pay for 3, 6, or 9 months of service at a time which still prorates to some obscenely low costs. The company itself looks as if it's 100% loss leader at this point.

Happy to take whatever part of the market they can get their hands on. I'm going to try out the $15.00 plan and see how it goes. Everywhere has WiFI nowadays. The only benefit to a high gigabyte plan is listening to Pandora in the car.

I *think* they are the company that jacks up the price after your initial "bulk" purchase though.  Be sure to look into that if you are considering Mint.

They do get great reviews on the No Contract forums though.

To keep the initial 15/mo price after 3 mos, you prepay for a full year 

Right, and then after that year the price doubles or something if it is the plan I am thinking....

Republic Wireless.  $15/month for 1gig data. 

backs up to Sprint towers. no contract. cancel at any time. bring your own phone, buy one of theirs, doesn't matter.

P.S. I am about to move my daughter to Unreal Mobile's $10/month unlimited plan that has 1GB data at LTE speeds then caps it to 2g or something after that. That's the same price I am paying for her current Red Pocket plan that only included 500 mins, 500 texts, and 500GB.   Now that is a bargain for you low data users!

P.S. CDMA only for now, but GSM coverage is coming (which is what I am waiting for)
