MJD Likely Out an "Extended Period" (1 Viewer)

MJD tweet tonight: Shouldnt've traded Calvin Johnson for Maurice Jones-Drew..Here's to Michael Crabtree turning into an absolute stud...

For him to tweet anything negative about himself for fantasy ... perhaps I'm reading too much into this ... but I'm bracing for the worst here.

Based on his twitter timeline, he didn't say that. Unless he deleted it.

I'd say it's quite likely he deleted that. The team probably asked him to.

Mularkey said it appears Jones-Drew has an arch sprain “based on the pressure and where the initial swelling comes from.”

Mularkey said there’s even concern that Jones-Drew could have a Lisfranc fracture (dislocation injury of the tarsometatarsal joints) that could end his season.

We need more certainty, damnit!

go ahead and drop mjd.don't be afraid.

I just traded for MJD and Roddy White, but I gave up a lot (too much, lopsided in fact), Bradshaw+Fitz in PPR, but I have a stable of RB's so it's a WR upgrade. More of a lottery ticket.

They already ruled out Lis Franc a week ago.

But when the post was made 7 1/2 days ago it wasn't ruled out yet.

Yeah, lottery ticket it right. You basically upped another team's talent level at two positions.
You think I upgraded his WR's?I traded away:WR19 + RB22forWR4 + RB61 (inj)I have RB8 + RB15 starting for me soBradshaw was only starting due to matchupswith RB27 and RB44 already on my bench My starter(s) got upgraded and I take a hit on RB depth. You need to take risksto win in FF IMO.

BUMP. I've got a guy going heavy after Jennings from me and I'm thinking about trying to deal him in a package for Harvin (PPR). I'm deep at RB (Forte / Martin / Matthews / SJax / LeShoure) so I'm considering it... but I'd love to know where we stand with Jones-Drew's foot.

ETA: Also has anyone read anything about MJD's long term prospects in Jax? He's a very likely holdout next year, no? I believe I read something about him wanting a trade? Is Jennings the guy in Jax Next year?

He hasn't requested a trade, that I am aware of. He said he wanted to retire a Jag. Jennings is a good NFL RB, but not talented enough to secure a starting job longterm, in my opinion. Especially if you have RB depth - move him now while his value is high. Especially in a deal for a top level player like Harvin.

Does anyone have any idea when MJD will be returning? I can practically steal him right now with my roster depth and won't need him before the playoffs.

Keep an eye on DeMarco Murray, MJD got a similar injury one week after Murray. So watch DeMarco and guesstimate MJD one week behind. It is not science but as good an indication as your are likely to get.

Someone just did just that in one league and I was shocked, had not even noticed MJD dropped.Surprisingly little discussion on this.

^^Is this true? It's the exact same injury? Murray has not been close this week, right? So maybe out at least through week 10?How about some guesstimates as to what actual week Maurice could return? If Murray is week 11, then MJD is week 12?

Murray sounds confident he'll be ready for week 10, so slot MJD either 11 or 12 using this fuzzy medical logic going on here.

Sounds like one of the worst ideas I've heard.

Do you have a better solution other than having no idea?

You are right. I will just wait for the team to explain exactly what the injury is an give a detailed and honest projection of when he will return. That is a much better plan. :)

Some fantasy owners are dropping MJD.

One just did in my league, but in all CBS leagues,

MJD is still owned in 99% of leagues.

If he is available in your league for pickup,

and you have strength already at the RB position,

with what little you know NOW, would you pick him

up and stash him on your roster for a possible return

to action in time for fantasy playoffs in week 14???

(Over a month away)

As an example:

(12 team league)

I have

Arian Foster

Matt Forte

Jonathan Stewart

Vick Ballard

Foster/Forte are locks for starting every week.

Ballard's usefulness window closing with the imminent

return of Donald Brown and Stewart likely to get more work.

Would you drop Ballard since you're done using him

and take a flyer on MJD?

From Rotoworld:

Maurice Jones-Drew (foot) has been ruled out for Week 10.According to coach Mike Mularkey, MJD is "questionable" for Week 11. Mularkey doesn't believe his star running back's season is over, but it's safe to say he remains out indefinitely. It's fair to wonder if the Jaguars were being truthful when they said Jones-Drew had avoided a Lisfranc injury. Averaing 52 yards rushing and 3.6 yards per carry in MJD's absence the past two weeks, Rashad Jennings will make another start against the Colts on Thursday. It seems like many moons ago some were speculating the Jaguars wouldn't miss Jones-Drew if his holdout extended into the regular season.

Worst poem ever.

Im getting offered Roethlisberger and MJD for Redman/Decker. QB TD = 6 (have Romo)

I just dont think I can take this deal and the question marks surrounding MJD lead me to believe if he really is that hurt why would the lowly Jaguars rush him back? I really wish we had more news but I cant find 1 positive thing that would lead me to believe MJD is going to be relevant this season.

No way, there's a good shot MJD is out for season. The upgrade from Ben to romo isn't worth an every week starter like decker.

Latest MJD status courtesy of Rotoworld:

Maurice Jones-Drew (foot) owners should not be encouraged by recent developments. He continues to be ruled out very early each week. He’s still getting around with a cart. The Jags have no target date for his return. He feels he’s underpaid -- will he really rush back for a 1-7 team?I’m not saying Jones-Drew should be dropped in any format, but owners can’t expect him back anytime soon.

with my luck, he will probably remain active all year and not play another down.

big difference in my league - and probably most - between OUT and IR.

I got fed up wiating on MJD. Jags are in the tank. Nothing to play for when MJD finally gets back and he's clearly unhappy with his contract so what's his motivation? Finally decided to shut him down and pick up a waiver defense for next week. Someone will fall all over themselves bidding for him on waivers next week I'm sure. I don't care what MJD thinks about coming back soon. He's too close to the situation for any objectivity. I think he's done.

The Jags have no reason NOT to play MJD if/when he is healthy. Everyone in the NFL is coachign for their jobs; if not this one, the next one. A coaches W/L record is their resume. It's not as though MJD is a franchise QB whose health is tied to the coach's long term job security.

:goodposting: I'm sick of the posts declaring player x is going to sit out if healthy because the team has nothing to play for. There's always something to play for. Playoffs, fan attendance, job security, future pay raise, or simple pride from years of competition and hard work to get where they are.

Nessler and Mayock reported tonight that they spoke with MJD and he expects to be back in TWO weeks.
Players are always overly-optimistic.
Exactly. Demarco Murray "could have returned" against the Ravens in Week, 6 and vowed to his teammates that he would be back for the Giants in Week 8. We're going on a month now, and it's looking like the earliest we'll see him is Week 11. To make matters worse, regarding MJD, Murray walked off on his own and even came back for a series. MJD was carted off.

Got a bad feeling both MJD n Murray are toast for the rest of the season
