Im a Yankee fan but I think AS OF RIGHT NOW the Sox should be ranked ahead of them. To put the Yankees at 1 and the Sox at 5 is laughable. Also the Indians are in NO WAY IN HELL the 2nd best team in baseball.

o/u on Yankees win total this year is like 98Boston is like 88-I'm a Sox fan....I'm just saying I think your thoughts are not echoed by the gambling world.

I wouldn't dismiss the Indians so quickly. They have a TON of talent and they just haven't played up to it yet. Eventually, they will. The AL Central is going to be a bloodbath.

Considering his #2 and #3 ranked teams, pitching means nothing to this guy. Phillies should have made that list IMO and although Cleveland will be tough, they aren't going to be the second best team in their division yet in all of baseball. :1948:

Not saying the Indians cant compete but 2nd best team right now? NO WAY. The Tigers have more talent than them.

The Mets at #3? Seriously? They're living off of a weak NL, so they may end up having the 3rd best record in the league, but they definitely aren't the 3rd best team in the league.

:pickle: Good pitching staff and great infield down?

:pickle: Theyre rotation is God awful but their bullpen is top notch and their lineup is 2nd to none (maybe the Yankees) in baseball. Also, Pedro may come back after the AS break and I am sure they will trade for a pitcher by the deadline. #3 sounds about right.

Interesting, because the books have made the Sox and Yankees co favorites to win the World Series. I was in Vegas this weekend and they are both 4-1.With that disparity in the win total, Boston is a value bet compared to the Yankees. The East should be tough this year but whoever wins the East is going to have between 92 and 95 wins at least.

Talent? Sure. But, seeing how the AL Central looks, I think the Tigers will have a hard time duplicating the 95 wins they had in '06.
The Indians at # 2 is a joke. The Blue Jays have as much of shot of making the playoffs as the Indians.
A joke? :pickle: . A stretch? Definitely. But they should be in contention come September.

I would just like to point out that the Detroit Tigers are the defending American League Champs.

That is all.

This would be my 12 pack:

1. New York Yankees

2. Boston Red Sux

3. Chicago White Sux

4. Detroit Tigers

5. Philadelphia Phillies

6. New York Mess

7. St Louis Cards (defending champ bump)

8. Anaheim Angels

9. Minnesota Twins

10. San Diego Padres

11. Milwaukee Brewers

12. Oakland A's

Odds to win the AL East:NY Yankees -140Boston +221:shrug:I think the thing is, the chances of the Yankees winning 100 games is much better than Boston. But in a short series, the Red Sox with a healthy Beckett-Shilling can beat anyone.

Yet they are both 4-1 to win the World Series and there is certainly no guarantee that the loser in the AL East will be the wildcard team. In fact, they probably won't because the East is going to be a bloodbath this year. The Yankees do have a history of winning the division but its obvious who the better value is.

I don't think any of these teams are better than Cleveland.
Again, I think the Indians will be a dangerous team but I think they are actually going to be a little overrated in 2007. After reading all the Tigers boards there are a lot of folks who think the Indians are just going to be insane good. If they were in the west, maybe. Having to play against the pitching in Detroit, Minnesota, and Chicago over 50 times is really going to hurt a team that leans too much on offense. Maybe they should have made my top 12 as far as raw talent but I considered situational information. I think any of the four teams in the AL Central would be in first in any other division in baseball outside the AL East. First to 90 wins gets it.

I see the Red Sox at 9/1 and Yankees at 7/2

While I don't think the Indians deserve #2 right now (they were #1 on alot of people's lists last year), some of you are WAAAAAY underrating them. Comments like....Detroit having tons more talent, pitching means nothing to this guy, seeing teams like Mil/SD over them, Toronto has a better shot than the Indians at the playoffs....are making giving me a nice laugh right now.

Glad you had a good laugh. Cleveland fans thinking their teams will rule the roost every year (this years Cavs :lmao: ) having not won a major sports championship in half a century, makes me laugh. Different strokes....

id be a little leary about the tigers young pitching doing what they did last year. I think verlander could come back to earth a little bit. That being said, they still have to be the favorites in the central. I hate the red sox, but id definetly take them over 88 if i were a gambler(despite their bull pen issues)

Eearly predictions

AL east- Yanks

AL West- A's (rangers need to show me they can pitch first)

AL Central- tigers

Wild card- Boston

NL east- Philly (mets rotation is that bad)

NL West- Dodgers

NL central- St. Louis

Wild card- mets

AL East - Yanks

AL Cent -- CLE

AL West -- Texas

AL WC -- BoSox

NL East -- Mets

NL Cent -- Astros (assuming they get Roger)

NL West -- Dodgers

NL WC -- Phillies

WS -- NYY over Dodgers

There you go. Mark it down.

Not sure what Cavs fans you speak of. While the Cavs have underachieved so far, so has just about every team in the East. There would be nothing wrong with a top 4 seed, although top 2 is preferred. Sounds like you get a kick out of your own Piston fans. :lmao:

Cleveland? With their pitching? In the AL Central? 85 wins would be a great season for them. With Jake Westbrook, Cliff Lee, and Paul Byrd in the rotation, throw in the great Keith Foulke and baseball pundits can see why the Indians will overpower the likes of the Tigers, Twins, White Sox, Red Sox, Yanks, and whichever power comes out of the West.

I love the Twins being mentioned as an also-ran in the Central.

Did you guys miss the Jeff Cirillo signing????

Closed circuit to WhoKnew:

x-Minnesota 96-66

Detroit 95-67

Chicago 90-72

Cleveland 78-84

Crap City 62-100

Seriously... The Indians "improvements" in their bullpen were Keith Foulke, Roberto Hernandez, and Joe Borowski. Their rotation is solid and they still have great talents in their lineup like Hafner, Martinez, and Sizemore but Peralta was BAD last year, Marte is very green, and their corner outfielders are below average.

Yea. Congratulations. The Cards earned it.That one still hurts.
Thanks, and, trust me, I know how much it hurts to see your team get to the championship and then lose. It is not fun. The Tigers still have a good young team, so they could easily make it back sooner than you think. I am not surprised to see the Cardinals not in the top 10, given the current nature of their staff, but as well as Suppan and Weaver pitched in the playoffs, they were not regular season stalwarts, so it is not like the Cardinals are having to replace Cy Young award winners or anything.

I still cant believe the Cardinals won the WS with that team last year. Could be the worst champion in baseball history (Im not trying to disrespect what they accomplished).

Its not like people aren't giving MN respect. They aren't predicting 78 wins for them or anything. Its just a brutal division. I think CLE will win -- but that's just a guess. Any of the four could win. I suspect it'll be very close right until the end.

 I think you have to rank Cleveland 4th out of the AL central contenders until they prove they're something other than big chokers.

There was absolutely no point to keep the bullpen in tact. So while the changes may seem like nothing was improved, we're just not going to know if that's the case until we see them play. It can't get much worse than it has been the past two seasons. The starting pitching and hitting are solid/good enough to win, Barfield was a nice addition at 2B, so it could come down to the pen once again. Cleveland luck will probably mean a lights out bullpen and SP injuries all season.

Its not so. The White Sox played the off season for tomorrow. The Tigers played it for today. As long as the arms hold up, the Tigers should be 5-7 games better than the White Sox.

The more I think about this, the more I like the Cards. They have Carp and then two exciting younger pitchers in Wainwright and Reyes. Duncan LOVES old retreads and he's got a bunch to work with -- Wells, Looper, Franklin, Thompson. You have to figure at least one of those is going to have a breakout season, if not a couple of them. Then you have Poo-holes.As a result, I would like to formally change my prediction above to the Cards as the Cent champs and losing to the Yanks in the WS.

Oh and BTW the Rangers are my surprise team this year. I think theyll win the AL West.
:snort:WHY?

The only, and I mean THE ONLY reason they have a chance is that the West is about as lackluster as you can get.

This Rangers' lineup is not your father's Rangers' lineup. You know why Texiera had 27 HR last year? Here's a hint: THERE'S NO PROTECTION FOR HIM!

Seriously, who's their biggest HR threat after Texiera? Wilkerson? Young? Blalock? Lofton? Cracker, please.

And don't get me started on that rotation. Staff ace is Kevin Millwood. Let me say that again. Staff ace is Kevin Freaking Millwood.

GLLLLLLLLLL

They've got Eric Gagne coming out of the bullpen....
