MLB Single-Season Team Wins Record (1 Viewer)

:coffee: In all seriousness, the Yanks still have alot of flaws. They play in the toughest division in baseball and while I think they improved theyre still gonna be neck and neck with BOS and TB all year.

Current record is 116 wins

I could see the Yanks going something like 130-32..... if they have a rough stretch.
I think you'll need better bait for this fishing trip.
Honestly, I'm only half-fishing.I respect Tampa's young talent, but it would not surprise me if their '08 season was the anomaly instead of the norm.

The Sox are the Sox, but how many times will they beat NY? 8?
Tampa stumbles this year and rebounds in 2010.

Won't happen. Their division is too tough.

You need a powerhouse team AND a crappy division to get to that stratosphere.
Not always. 2001 AL West

Seattle 116-46

Oakland 102-60

Anaheim 75-87

Texas 73-89

Both the AL East and AL Central had two teams with substantially worst winning percentages than the Angels and Rangers.

I would be surprised if any team managed over 100 wins in the AL East for 2009 though. Boston, New York and Tampa Bay all have at least 19 games against one another. The Blue Jays aren't exactly pushovers and the Orioles young core is clipping along.

It's going to be a blood bath.

The Yanks will need 100 wins just to make the wildcard over Boston.
:lmao: I miss the days when Tampa baseball fans knew their place.
I love the "I root for the Yankees so I'm better than you" shtick.Maybe if the Rays do well this year you can bandwagon them as well? They're about as close to Oakland as NY is.
Yankees last title = 2000Raiders last title = 1983

Perhaps you should find out what bandwagon means before posting again.

No....I don't see them winning 100 games.
Way to go out on a limb.
You say this like it's so obvious that they won't. The way the team is built, they can certainly win 100 games. Do I think they will? No, I think they'll fall just short. But it's not outrageous. Their starting pitching has a couple of questions, but they COULD be really good. The bullpen IS good. The offense has the ability to put up a ton of runs.Suggesting that this team won't come close to 100 wins is unwise in my opinion. They won 89 last year with Pavano, Ponson, and Rasner in the rotation the 2nd half of the year and no contribution from Posada, Matsui, and to a lesser extent Cano.

What are your feelings on the '09 versions of the Rays, Sox, Jays, and O's compared to '08?

I HAD thought the Rays would take a step back from last year and I didn't think Boston was going to be a playoff team. I figured Toronto would be beyond putrid and the Orioles would be slightly better.I also said the Yanks had a good bullpen so what do I know?
