Mock Drafts: Post yours, post theirs, post them all, post them here.. (1 Viewer)

Here's my shot, based on what I think teams WILL do. It's my opinion that D-linemen, OT and CB are the most reached for 1st rounders, so I don't expect them to slide, and when deciding between a few players, I will lean to those positions.

1.Tampa Bay Buccaneers2-14 Jameis Winston--Tampa is willing to take the chance that Winston will mature under Lovie, and take the more refined passer.

2.Tennessee Titans2-14 Marcus Mariota--No trade down. No Leonard Williams. They take the QB with 4.5 speed and exciting upside. Ruston Webster and Ken Whisenhunt need this team to get better in order to maintain their jobs, and this team needs something exciting. Man, they're boring. Adding a D-lineman to eat blocks in front of Derrick Morgan and Brian Orakpo ain't the way to do it. I know: Whisenhunt won with Kurt Warner and wants a pocket QB and blah blah blah---come on now. Dig a little deeper. Ken Whisenhunt: first year with Steelers, Kordell Stewart threw for most yards in his career. First year as OC, rookie QB Ben Roethlisberger ran around all year, winning a Super Bowl. Whisenhunt's defining moment in that game? WR pass from Antwaan Randle-El to Hines Ward. If Whis cannot imagine winning games with Mariota, in a league where Cam Newton, Russell Wilson and Colin Kaepernick are playoff QBs, then TEN needs a new coach.

3.Jacksonville Jaguars3-13 Dante Fowler--David Caldwell and Gus Bradley can keep a secret. Blake Bortles surprised everyone last year, and they added some young WRs to play with. In free agency, they added Julius Thomas to the offense. Bradley is now tugging on Caldwell's shirt, and pointing at the all-important Leo position with a look of longing. I don't think Leo Williams is in play here. Sen'Derrick Marks was their best defender last year, they re-signed Alualu, and added Jared Odrick. This team needs a Leo and an Otto. In FA, they added JT Thomas and Dan Skuta to the re-signed Posluzney and Telvin Smith. They might help at Otto, but not at Leo. Fowler's extra 30 pounds gives him the spot over Beasley, and clean piss test over Gregory.

4.Oakland Raiders3-13 Leonard Williams--Reggie and Del Rio want to get bigger and meaner on defense. Carr needs some toys, it's true. But there's a much better chance of getting a WR that contributes in the 2nd round than there is getting a 300 pound dancing bear for the D-line. Reggie learned in Green Bay, you can get WRs later. Williams in an easy decision over Cooper. Give Reggie a choice between DL and WR in the 1st round, and he goes DL every time.

5.Washington Redskins4-12 Vic Beasley--I am not going to predict trades, but if I was, this would be the spot. New GM Scott McCloughan is a proponent of the build throught the draft philosophy, and I could see a trade down with the Dolphins, and hoping Gregory slid that far. Makes a lot of sense to me. If they stay put, the Skins add some speed to the defense, and Beasley has a devastating 1st step. He's probably a bit lighter than the Skins would like, but he is a much better pass rusher, right now, than Dupree or Ray.

6.New York Jets4-12 Amari Cooper--Completely new group running this team. Let's see: Mike Mccagnan is the GM, Todd Bowles is the HC, and Chan Gailey is the OC. I almost went Bud Dupree here, and would love to see what Bowles could do with this guy. But Bowles put a great defense together last year with no linebackers and a bunch of safeties, I think he feels confident in his ability to generate a pass rush with some spare parts. This might be a case of BPA, and getting Gailey and Geno Smith the best chance to succeed. Not sure how much Marshall has left, and the new regime gets a nice, safe pick at #6.

7.Chicago Bears5-11 Danny Shelton--I could see this in a trade down. Had a tough time with this pick. I don't believe 3-4 NTs are worth a top 10 pick, but Shelton is a special one. If someone wanted to make a case for White or Dupree, I wouldn't argue. There are other NT-types out there, but the drop off from Shelton is big. The team added a lot of pieces on defense, and expect to produce pass rush in some form from McPhee, Allen, and Houston. Dupree is a projection as a pass rusher, moreso than an actually good pass rusher, and I believe the team likes Jeffrey, Wilson, Royal and Bennett as receivers.

8.Atlanta Falcons6-10 Alvin 'Bud' Dupree--The Falcons run a 4-3, and right now, their starting DEs would be Adrian Clayborn and Tyson Jackson. I mean....yeeesh. Dupree has the size for DE in this scheme, and Dimitroff needs to get the defense some help. Adding Clayborn and O'Brien Schofield ain't gonna get it done. Look out for Gregory or Todd Gurley here, as well. Dupree is a clean prospect as well, character through the roof.

9.New York Giants6-10 Todd Gurley--That's right, that just happened. It's going to take a stable team to take Gurley, in case he's not ready to go week 1, and the Giants are the most stable front office/ownership in the league. Adding a talent to the team like Gurley could have as big an impact in the next four years as any player in this draft, and the Giants are in their window. This team may have as sorry an offensive backfield as anyone in the league, and I am shocked I haven't seen this pick mocked a lot before.

10.St. Louis Rams6-10 Kevin White--The Rams have a lot of pieces in place, and I think they could call to see about Mariota. Assuming they stay put, a top WR is still a need. They have a strong defense, and added more to it with Fairley and Ayers. It has to be offense here. The o-line run is gonna start here somewhere, and the Rams have a need at RT, but could still re-sign Barksdale. Kevin White still being there makes the difference.

11.Minnesota Vikings7-9 Brandon Sherff--The Vikes decide to help the young QB with the versatile Sherff. The team had a quiet offseason, but added Mike Wallace to the emerging Charles Johnson and Kyle Rudolph. Scherff can slide in at guard, and the Vikes aren't so sure he can't play LT, if Matt Kalil doesn't work out. Having their choice of the O-linemen, and gaining Sherff's polished game to help protect the young QB is an easy pick.

12.Cleveland Browns7-9 Arik Armstead--The team is considering OL and maybe WR, but there are players to be had there at #19. There aren't any 3-4 DEs with Armstead's upside, aside from him. The team filled holes with Bowe, Hartline, and Housler. Breathtaking? Well, no. But neither are Des Bryant and Billy Wynn, the starting DEs. Character concerns are not an option for this team, so I didn't consider any red flags.

13.New Orleans Saints7-9 Randy Gregory--This team needs a jolt. An improved pass rush is more important to a team looking to win now than anything else, and they take a chance on Gregory. There is a gaping hole across from Galette, and Gregory can platoon with Anthony Spencer and Parys Harylson. With Brees in the twilight, it's time to swing for the fences. Talent-wise, Gregory is all alone here.

14.Miami Dolphins8-8 Breshard Perriman--The Dolphins, if you haven't been paying attention, are being run by a wild man. Stephen Ross is truly playing fantasy football with this team, and ran out and signed Suh and athletic concussion-about-to-happen Jordan Cameron. Hartline and Wallace were sent packing, leaving Jarvis Landry with about 200 targets coming his way. The more polished Parker is bypassed for the freaky Perriman. Perriman's Florida roots are not unnoticed by Ross.

15.San Francisco 49ers8-8 Marcus Peters--I believe some team is going to take Peters as the #1 corner off the board, and feel that the character stuff is overblown. And it's going to be a team, coincidentally, with a crying need at corner. Enter the 49ers, who really don't need another headache, but corners are a premium in this league, and Peters' problems stem from emotion, not drugs or baby mama drama. Worth the risk here.

16.Houston Texans9-7 Devante Parker--The Texans are happy to scoop up Parker, sliding Cecil Shorts to a more comfortable underneath role. They still need a QB and an ILB, but Parker is too tempting. By letting the draft come to them, the Texans come up big. They consider Kendricks here, but aren't sure about him taking on blocks in the 3-4 defense.

17.San Diego Chargers9-7 Malcolm Brown--Chargers could go in a lot of different ways here. CB, WR, OT, RB, Edge rusher. By signing Franklin to play RG, they decide to keep Fluker at RT. Re-signed Flowers and drafted Verrett last year. RB can be had later. Brown is an unusual player, and putting him across from Liuget in the 3-4 creates some interesting problems for opponents.

18.Kansas City Chiefs9-7 Trae Waynes--Chiefs scoop up the solid Waynes, adding him to Sean Smith and Phillip Gaines, who are nice, but not great. This is a nice player at a premium position sliding to them, and Reid pounces. Cam Erving also makes a lot of sense here.

19.Cleveland Browns (from Buffalo)7-9 La'El Collins--Collins has some versatility, and the Browns could use him at RT or guard, depending. Mitchell Schwartz is in the final year of his deal. Best player left on their board. With Parker going earlier, the Browns decision is easy.

20.Philadelphia Eagles10-6 Jalen Collins--A Collins from LSU goes back to back, and the Eagles take the SEC-tested Collins over the world long jump champ Byron Jones. Chip Kelly doesn't need superstars at WR or RB to run his team, but there's no hiding cornerbacks. They spent money on Maxwell, but you need several CBs these days, and Kelly will look for WRs later. The positional importance of CB overtakes safety, as the Eagles also consider Landon Collins and Damarious Randall.

21.Cincinnati Bengals10-5-1 Cameron Erving--The Bengals could use pass rush, another WR, an OT, or a DT next to Atkins. Erving can start right away, and maybe replace Whitowrth at LT next year. I love this pick for them, personally. A very good center can positively affect the entire line, and by extension, the entire offense. Also considered Kendricks, Ray, and one of the OTs here.

22.Pittsburgh Steelers11-5 Kevin Johnson--Sweet Jesus, does this team need some cornerbacks. They need some pass rush, and Ray's name is brought up, but the Steelers have a long histoey of finding OLB later in the draft. Steelers are happy to have the long-armed KJ available here, and while I may have the player wrong, I think that PIT will like a CB here. They are also tempted by the OTs still hanging out.

23.Detroit Lions11-5 Andrus Peat--Lions have some weaknesses to address, and one could make a lot of arguments here. But they are pretty happy to grab Peat, who may be a LT in the NFL, but can definitely play RT. Well-coached and strong, with huge hands, he'll help the running game right away, which took a step back last year. They would love Erving here, and may even move up for him. Everyone says DT, but they have Ngata, and Tyrunn Walker will be a nice rotational piece.

24.Arizona Cardinals11-5 Shane Ray--The slide ends. A one trick pony? Well, the Cards need that trick. Pass rush is a priority for the Cards, who lost the architect of their defense last year to the Jets. Ray will learn on the job, and the Cards will just ask him to relentlessly pursue the QB. The Cards could use a corner, and a MLB or three, but Ray is alone at the top of their wish list.

25.Carolina Panthers7-8-1 DJ Humphries--Everyone is mocking an OT to Carolina, and I won't be contrarian for the sake of it. Humphries is more polished than Clemmings and Flowers, and could beat out Jonathan Martin and Michael Oher right now. Carolina could go O-line with their first two picks, and I would applaud. Only other players considered here were different OTs.

26.Baltimore Ravens10-6 Nelson Agholor--I love trying to step into the mind of Ozzie Newsome. #1 GM in the NFL, IMO. A trade down seems possible, but classic Ozzie is letting the draft come to him. Does that mean Landon Collins? Ereck Flowers? Melvin Gordon? Maxx Williams? I have a feeling when he does pick, everyone will say, "Of course". Agholor has a lot in common with Amari Cooper, and one has to wonder if they were on opposite teams, where they'd be ranked.

27.Dallas Cowboys12-4 Byron Jones--Melvin Gordon, you say? Please. What's the point of having that line if you can't have a great running game with some 3rd rounder running behind it? No way do the Cowboys take a RB over an athletic marvel like Jones. Brandon Carr is on the way out, and CB is really a desperate need here. Coners go fast, if Dallas doesn't get one here, they gonna be gone in the 2nd. Dallas would love Peters' red flags to cause him to drop to this spot.

28.Denver Broncos12-4 Cedric Ogbuehi--Killed it at RT, not so much at LT. No problem, the Broncos have a LT. Clemmings and Flowers' rawness allows the late-rising Ogbuehi to slip into the first. Broncos are in win-now mode, and need to protect Peyton. The Broncos signed no O-linemen of consequence in FA, and this has to be a priority.

29.Indianapolis Colts11-5 Ereck Flowers--The Colts still want to be a power running team. If Gosder Cherilus can hold up, Flowers can refine his pass pro for a year. If not, Flowers will start, and learn on the job. Almost went Damarious Randall here, but this first round might not contain a safety at all. They need pass rush, but that bone has been picked clean. An Eddie Goldman or Jordan Phillips also makes sense.

30.Green Bay Packers12-4 Jordan Phillips--He is simply too tantalizing. Pack have needs at ILB, but Kedndricks doesn't fit, and too early for the other guys. Corner is a need, but a NT is a crying need for this team. Look out for Ronald Darby or Eric Rowe here as well.

31.New Orleans Saints (from Seattle)7-9 Benadrick McKinney-I had tough time with this pick. Saints could go WR, OL, CB or NT here. But Payton has faith that he can scheme a passing game, and like a rotation of Bunkley and Jenkins. I could see Darby/Rowe/Williams at CB as well. Instead the Saints take a chance on the tantalizing talents of McKinney, who has the size to play ILB in the 3-4.

32.New England Patriots12-4 Eric Rowe--Patriots lost Revis, Browner, and Wilfork, and Carl Davis or Goldman make sense here as well. Parcells loves the length and versatility of Rowe, and if he can't play CB, he will slide him next to McCourty at safety. Look out for Tomlinson/Randall/Odighizuwa as well.

Flame away, homers.

I like the NY Giants pick. I actually could see it. Coughlin likes his power backs.

9.New York Giants6-10 Todd Gurley--That's right, that just happened. It's going to take a stable team to take Gurley, in case he's not ready to go week 1, and the Giants are the most stable front office/ownership in the league. McShay, stealing my stuff on ESPN tonight!

Actually, I think the CBS seven rounder was one of the first I saw that had him sliding even further. It's difficult for me to figure out how both Ray and Gregory clung to the top ten for so long.
Gregory has some great tape. He's a superior pass rusher, and even wearing a Bob Marley jersey, he ain't dropping far.
I guess I have big worries about guys that have great tape, at a weight significantly different than what they were at the combine or pro-day. That worries me about both Gregory and Humphries who both lean heavily on athleticism. Maybe they can both bulk up in a few months, but when they do that are they the same guy on the tape?

Also, in the case of Gregory... they call it the intelligence test for a reason. Although I think judgement test would be more accurate. Some guys mature.... others? I don't think he can even be on the CLE board based on their recent debacles for instance and those are two pretty high picks.

Pete Prisco has Damarious Randall going in the first round to Indy. He had a good combine and has gotten a lot of good press from the talking heads. All that made for a major disappointment when I watched his play on draft breakdown. He plays fast but misses tackles and takes terrible angles. I can hardly wait to see where he actually gets drafted.

Means this has to be one of the worst safety classes ever. he is Mayocks #1

Josh Norris:

1. Tampa Bay Bucs - QB Jameis Winston, FSU - I still think Marcus Mariota has a chance to be selected here, much more than given credit for. As Yahoo's Charles Robinson reported, the Glazers have final say in signing off on Winston. But mocks are for what I think will happen, and most signs still point to Jameis. Winston can be a quality starter in the NFL.

2. Cleveland Browns (via Tennessee Titans) - QB Marcus Mariota, Oregon - The Browns trade picks 12, 19 and a 2016 3rd-round selection. After the GM and owner made the wrong quarterback choice last year, there is pressure to make the decision right. Mariota will do just that. I expect the Titans to talk themselves into sticking with Zach Mettenberger in the next two-plus weeks. It is the wrong decision, but more on that later.

3. Jacksonville Jaguars - DL Leonard Williams, USC - Everyone is mocking an edge rusher here. I bet the Jaguars think they can get their edge rusher, for the role he will play, in the second round (Eli Harold, for example). Yes, the team signed Jared Odrick to play either the big end or 3 technique. I think the team is concerned with Sen’Derrick Marks’ availability early in the season. Marks’ contract is also very easy to move on from, if necessary. Adding another versatile piece up front that could be viewed as “safe” makes sense.

4. Oakland Raiders - WR Amari Cooper, Alabama - I think Reggie McKenzie has his eye on Bud Dupree, so a trade down is very possible. But with Amari on the board, he is a logical fit. Amari could thrive in this offense, which would get the ball in his hands and allow him to create yards after the catch.

5. Washington Redskins - OL Brandon Scherff, Iowa - Mimicking the recent approach of a division rival. I bet many teams will think Scherff is this year’s Zack Martin. Some might think this is early for a guard. Maybe, but acquiring prospects with traits that translate is paramount.

6. New York Jets - EDGE Dante Fowler Jr, Florida - The first edge rusher off the board. I think Fowler is a good player, but not the quality of a team’s No. 1 disruptor. He won’t have to be on the Jets, as they have multiple interior defensive linemen who create havoc. Fowler is always looking to separate and has attacked from multiple alignments.

7. Chicago Bears - WR Kevin White, WVU - There are only a handful of foundation pieces in this draft. I think Kevin White is one. Place him across from Alshon jeffery and you have two receivers who can win in contested situations. White also offers yards after catch ability.

8. Atlanta Falcons - EDGE Alvin Dupree, Kentucky - As previously mentioned, Dupree could be selected much earlier. In fact, he could be the top edge off the board. His tape doesn’t match it - Dupree was asked to play multiple spots and never nailed down one area where he wins. But teams will like his “personality” and ridiculous athletic traits.

9. New York Giants - T Andrus Peat, Stanford - The Giants tend to invest in pass rushers, wide receivers or OL early. Do not be surprised if Peat is the first true tackle off the board. I think La’El Collins is also a tackle in the NFL and rank him higher, but teams could view Peat as the top “true” tackle.

10. St. Louis Rams - OL La’El Collins, LSU - If Collins is selected, who plays LT? Either way, you have two powerful blockers along the offensive line in an offense that will need to keep its quarterback clean in the pocket and open running lanes.

11. Minnesota Vikings - CB Trae Waynes, Michigan State -Everything points to the Vikings selecting a cornerback. So will it happen? I could see one of three names: Waynes, Byron Jones and Kevin Johnson. Waynes is a pure press corner who uses length and frame to stick with receivers and combat the catch point.

12. Tennessee Titans (via Cleveland Browns) - RB Todd Gurley, Georgia - If the Titans trade out of No. 2, they are sticking with Zach Mettenberger. Bishop Sankey is not a primary back. Why not dampen Mettenberger’s responsibilities with a foundation piece of an offense. Todd Gurley is clearly the top ball carrier in this class.

13. New Orleans Saints - EDGE Vic Beasley, Clemson - My buddy Tony Pauline recently stated the Saints are very interested in Beasley. Why wouldn’t every team be interested in a ridiculous edge rusher with unreal athleticism who can at least offer outside speed with bend. It lines up perfectly with a need for the Saints.

14. Miami Dolphins - WR DeVante Parker, Louisville - I know the Dolphins just added Greg Jennings, but you don’t pass one Parker for Jennings. The team visited with a number of receivers during the process. That might not help pinpoint a specific name, but it conveys a general feeling they will be adding to the position early.

15. San Francisco 49ers - CB Byron Jones, UConn - Byron Jones could be the first corner off the board. Teams will love his size, athleticism and that his medicals checked out. Also, his experience at safety is a plus. Jimmie Wardshould man the slot.

16. Houston Texans - DL Arik Armstead, Oregon - Armstead’s projection is a difficult one in terms of draft selection. I could see him in the top 10 if a front office views him as a comparable talent to Leonard Williams. The flashes are there to warrant it. On the other hand, Armstead will not fit every base scheme and disappeared for stretches.

17. San Diego Chargers - RB Melvin Gordon III, Wisconsin - Two running backs in the top 20? Let’s destroy the narrative, NFL. Again, I’ll bring back the “foundation piece” logic. A team could look at other non-RB talents in this class and view them as role players. Then they could look at a ball carrier

18. Kansas City Chiefs - LB Eric Kendricks, UCLA - The Chiefs have to improve their inside linebackers. With so much talent up front, Kendricks would thrive in Kansas City. Add in the fact Derrick Johnson is in a contract year coming off injury, and it makes a lot of sense.

19. Tennessee Titans (via Cleveland Browns) - WR Breshad Perriman, UCF - In this mock, the Titans added a RB to go with Mettenberger. Now they add a receiver. The teams has looked at a number of top 50 receivers, and I think the NFL likes Perriman more than many on the outside.

20. Philadelphia Eagles - OL Donovan Smith, Penn State - Suprise? Smith checks all the boxes the Eagles (apparently) look for: Senior Bowler, athletic and visited the team’s facility. I don’t love Smith’s game, but teams who do likely think he can play guard and tackle. They must be able to unpack the traits he offers.

21. Cincinnati Bengals - T D.J. Humphries, Florida - I don’t love this fit. However, both of the Bengals’ tackles are entering contract years. Humphries, Cedric Ogbuehi, Ereck Flowers, etc. are all options. Humphries has added weight during the draft process and now sits above 300 pounds.

22. Pittsburgh Steelers - CB Kevin Johnson, Wake Forest - Kevin Johnson could be selected much earlier. The Wake Forest corner has awareness and finds the football in both man and zone situations. There is little wasted movement to his game and he attacks the catch point.

23. Detroit Lions - DT Danny Shelton, Washington - I know, I know. “But Shelton and Haloti Ngata will play the same position.” From watching the Panthers so closely, they have had success putting two “nose tackles” on the field in high run percentage downs, then they use a rotation from there. Key word: rotation. It will be a major focus of Shelton’s career. I think Shelton is a good player, but his evaluation was inflated early in the process. Ngata is also on a one year deal.

24. Arizona Cardinals - EDGE Shane Ray, Missouri - This might be seen as a “drop” by some, but I think this is where Ray belongs. He tested as a bad athlete (in the 22nd percentile for his position) but does maximize it on the field and possesses a great motor. Some teams have medical questions, per multiple reports.

25. Carolina Panthers - T Cedric Ogbuehi, Texas A&M - Looking at the Panthers' offseason OT moves, they likely think the team can win with a combination of Michael Oher, Nate Chandler, Mike Remmers and Jonathan Martin. Ogbuehi seems on track to play in his rookie year, but it might not be a complete necessity (in the Panthers' minds). Ogbuehi does need to fix his punch timing.

26. Baltimore Ravens - CB Marcus Peters, Washington - I know the Ravens just gave Jimmy Smith a large contract. But Lardarius Webb is declining and the team has struggled to add corner talent since. The Ravens are known to work with prospects and have patience for personalities more than others.

27. Dallas Cowboys - EDGE Randy Gregory, Nebraska - I think Gregory’s “fall” ends here. Talent wise, Gregory is near the top. The Cowboys will likely be without Greg Hardy for 10 games, so they still have a monstrous edge rushing need. Enter Gregory who has speed and power despite playing around 230 lbs.

28. Denver Broncos - OL Jake Fisher, Oregon - The Broncos have needs at tackle and guard. Fisher has played both tackle spots along with guard and has athleticism to be used in Gary Kubiak’s zone scheme. It is a great fit.

29. Indianapolis Colts - S Landon Collins, Alabama - The Colts need a long-term starter at both of their safety spots. Collins is likely best in a strong safety role but has experience in multiple alignments due to Alabama’s advanced coverages.

30. Green Bay Packers - DB Eric Rowe, Utah - This fit makes too much sense, and it is rarely mocked. Rowe will be evaluated at both corner and safety. He is the best athlete among defensive backs this year and is long, two traits the Packers look for at the position.

31. New Orleans Saints (via Seahawks) - G Cameron Erving, FSU - Yes, the Saints added Max Unger. But a hole at one interior OL spot is glaring. Erving showed promise at left tackle, however, he solidified the Noles’ OL while at center. He is being evaluated at all three spots.

32. New England Patriots - LB Shaq Thompson, Washington - A forward thinking Bill Belichick could notice his lack of second level coverage defenders and love Shaq in this role. We have seen Thompson play man, stay patient and attack the ball at the catch point. He could be Mayo’s replacement as well.

Josh Norris:
He took a lot of chances, and I like mocks that are out of the ordinary.

I thought I was a big fan of Donovan Smith, but I would be amazed if he was taken in the top 20 of the draft.

Hate the SD pick with Shelton on the board.

The Gregory/Ray slides make a lot of sense to me.

Not a mock but I didn't notice something when looking at them:

There's only one out of the 9 teams west of Minneapolis picking in the top 14 (Raiders).
