McNabb came close with 3900/23, T Romo 3448/26, M Cassel 3693/21

2007, 6 for 4000+ yds/25+, and Hass 3966/28, D Anderson 3787/29, Warner 3409/27

Romo, Brady and Cutler could all hit 4000/25 or 3800/22. If C Palmer is 100%

that's the 12 QBs starting for your league. How high do you draft a QB?

great thread. I say it goes back to the six or seven range. We did not have the injuries in 2009 most years have seen with the top end passers.

But that doesn't really answer the question about waiting in the draft unless you know who's going to get hurt. It certainly appears that waiting and grabbing your QB late in redrafts is an even better strategy than it has been in the past.

The poll asks how many QBs hit those marks, and why not. I, too, would wait on a QB. I like the group of QBs in the QB7-9 range ... and wait for Favre, Roethlisberger, or Cutler.

Yeah, I misread his final line there.

I am avoiding Palmer this coming season. I do think that if you wait past the Romo/Schaub tier, then the play is to get two of the next group Having Favre and either Cutler or Eli makes might offer upside and stability.u

15 most likely, in order:

Manning

Brees

Rodgers

Rivers

Romo

Schaub

Cutler

Brady

Favre

Roethlisberger

Manning

Flacco

Mcnabb

Ryan

Palmer

Wild cards:

Kolb

Stafford

Whitehurst

Leinart

Moore

Long shot pick......Brady Quinn :goodposting:

Here's how many times it's been done at the team level:

this makes me want to make sure and grab one before it gets to schaub (rodgers, brees, manning, rivers, romo). signs point to a decrease this year

I think the lack of injuries is also a result of the new rules. I'd say 9 or 10 this year. Many of my leagues are going 2 QB now - I'll be drafting QBs in 2 of the first 4 rounds.

Fluke year - The new rules aren't as new, the lesser talents and/or less potent offenses will regress below that 4k/25 mark. I'd guess we'll have around 6: probably 3 of Peyton/Brees/Rodgers/Rivers/Brady, 2 out of Favre/Schaub/Romo/Eli/Cutler, and 1 that's not being discussed like Ryan or Stafford or Cassel. 2 or 3 more will get close to the 3800/22. I'll try to land one of the top 5 in leagues with high QB scoring and wait a bit longer for a combo like Favre/Eli in 4pt TD leagues.

I also think that we'll see a small spike in rushing yards this year as teams adjust to the nickel and dime defenses that they'll be seeing.

DB's are called for holding if they look at the receivers wrong these days.

Players like Rice and Irvin had to catch the ball with a corner holding on to one of their arms.

Modern passing and receiving records are the direct result of the current "made for TV" rules and officiating.

2010 results 4 QB's passed for 4000+/25+. Qb's that came close-5 That doesn't include M Vick. The 2010 12th ranked QB (C Palmer) scored the same as The 2009 12th ranked QB (D McNabb -294) Footballguy's rankings and scoring The difference between the 2 years is the top 2 QB's in 2009 ran away in scoring. A Rodgers 418, D Brees 382, 3rd B Favre 362. 2010 no big drop offs until you hit 6th place D Brees 352, 7th M Ryan 322. then it goes down gradually-no drop offs more then 10 points. The 5 QB's that came close. T Brady 3900/36-#1 in FF Scoring. A Rodgers 3922/28 #2 in FF scoring. M Ryan 3705/28-#8 in FF scoring. C Palmer 3970/26 12th in scoring. M Schaub 4369/24-9th in scoring. M Vick is in a different category 3018/21 but 676/9 rushing. J Freeman was 3451/25 but rushed for 364 to finish 7th. The higher number in TD passes make the 4000 yd mark substanderd-as far as fantasy scoring goes. Poll for 2011? Edited for mistake the FOUR QB's that hit 4000/25- P Manning, P Rivers, D Brees and E Manning. I originally thought Schaub also did it.

If Romo would not have gotten injured, that would have been one more to add...

Even when you take Romo's numbers added to the old and Rusty Jon Kitna over the entire season, you get 3970 Yards, 27 TDs. Romo's numbers pro-rated over the full 16 games would be 4280 yards, 29 TDs.

Still, definitely a down season for QB passing (or a regression to the mean, as stated above...)

There were actually only 4 players that hit the specified 4000/25 mark: Rivers, Manning, Brees, and Manning. Shaub had the yards, but only 24 TDs. Palmer, Rodgers, and Brady all had the TDs, but not the yardage.

I was surprised to see how close Carson Palmer came, to be honest. 3970 yards and 26 TDs? I thought he had a much worse season than that...
