First Shaun Phillips, now Steve Foley. At least it's taking three or four officers to subdue any single Charger LB.

Foley arrested after clash with cop

UNION-TRIBUNE

11:18 a.m. April 21, 2006

San Diego Chargers linebacker Steven Foley was arrested early today on suspicion of resisting arrest, battery on a police officer and being drunk in public after an altercation on a University City street, police said.

It was the second time in a week that a Chargers linebacker had been arrested and accused of assaulting a police officer.

Detective Gary Hassen, a San Diego police spokesman, said Foley, 30, was taken into custody after being involved in a fight with at least three officers about 1:50 a.m.

The officers had been called to investigate a report of a possible traffic incident that had left a vehicle parked pointing the wrong way on University Center Lane, a small street that runs north from Nobel Drive just east of Interstate 5.

Hassen said that when officers contacted Foley, he tried to drive off. The officers attempted to detain him for questioning and a struggle began, Hassen said.

The officers, who were trying to find out exactly had happened, told Foley he was not free to leave, Hassen said. He said they also smelled alcohol on him.

“There was concern that he was intoxicated to the point he should not be driving,” Hassen said.

The incident escalated when police determined Foley's Range Rover was to be impounded for expired Arkansas tags. Several officers were called to subdue the 6 foot 4 inch, 250-pound linebacker.

On April 14, Chargers linebacker Shaun Phillips was arrested in the Gaslamp Quarter after a struggle with police.

That's about three blocks from where I live. I don't know what he would have been doing there are 1:50 a.m. Must have been at Rock Bottom?
