More value in 2007 (1 Viewer)

Which player do you think will have more value in 2007? Will Jacobs be the primary running back if Tiki retires or will Lendale take over as the starter or both?

I think Jacobs reminds me of LJ when he runs. I think given the chance, he will put up monster numbers! He won't be pulled at the GL, that's for sure.

I'd like to think that Jacobs will be the guy next year in NY, but I don't see it..dude can't catch a cold, let alone a football.Name the last 264-lb. RB , in the history of the NFL, to lead his team in carries...the ONLY one out of the 400+ RB's to come down the pike since the league's inception, is Christian Okoye. Jacobs isn't going to buck the trend, either.. If you know Coughlin's coaching history, he's always had a fast starting RB with great hands, and a thumper like Jacobs or Stacey Mack..They'll likely sign a free agent in the offseason.

Would you guys stop it with the Lendale White crap already? The guy is worthless.

:goodposting: Once again, Jacobs can catch the ball well (not Reggie Bush/WR well but has solid hands for a RB) and is suprisingly nimble and quick for a big man. Because Tiki is pretty damn good, Jacobs is relagated to more of a powerback/goal line role but watching Jacobs in the pre-season when he has a chance to run as a three down RB, he can catch, move and turn the corner suprisingly quickly.I wouldn't be suprised to see the Giants draft or bring in another back to compete and complement Jacobs (although Ward who has been injured could potentially have a role next year as well) but Jacobs appears to have all the tools to be an NFL RB. Will he last for 10 years? Probably not, but not many NFL running back do.I'm suprsied that someone with a handle like 'nygiants56' missed on Jacobs true skillset and based his skills on his size, mislabeling him as a one dimensional bruiser as people who haven't seen much of Jacobs assume.

:goodposting: 1) The Giants need to add RB via draft or FA, if for no other reason than depth. Depending on the type of guy they bring in (3RB or potential feature), only until it happens will we know the plans for Jacobs.2) Jacobs runs like a psycho. He'll have a short career if he keeps it up, the Nigerian Nightmare didn't last too long, either. I highly doubt he'll have the same intensity if he were to be an every down back, but he is so hyped up when he gets on the field right now I wonder if he'll put himself into cardiac arrest.

Re: the Nigerian Nightmare, also remember that they had Barry Word there - the "small & fast" half of the RB tandem from 1990 on. The only year that Okoye had over 300 carries was the year before Word joined the team, and when Word was there, they split pretty much 55/45. I could see the same thing in New York. I am sure there will be "speed" players available next year for the Giants to go after with all kinds of prices from low to high (J.J. Arrington, Chris Brown, Domanic Rhodes, Thomas Jones, Michael Turner) or they could draft someone.

Edit - sorry - to comment on Lendale... I drafted him as the best option, but suspect he will be a bust. I found it strange that he had a few carries (one very good) in the game yesterday but then didn't have a carry from early in the 2nd quarter, despite Travis Henry's suckieness. The Ten coaching staff may be going for the #1 pick ;) .

As for who will have the better year next year, at this point I'd guess Jacobs, only because I have seen more positive things from him than LenDale. But that could all change down the stretch, and also depends on who NY brings in next year.

IMO Jacobs is just too big to carry the full load...

Okoye was 3 inches shorter and 4lbs lighter...Jacobs is a Monster..He cant catch worth a hoot and in that O he will have to share carries.. I still like him better than White though. IMO White lacks the desire it takes to be a great NFL RB. He will have a few good seasons and some good games but thats it..

That is just flat out wrong.Jacobs has very soft hands, he just isn't called upon to catch the ball much since Tiki is so damn good at it.

Scouts actually watch players play, in practice and during games, to assess their skillsets. They don't just see someone else that they were about the same size as and then generalize their careers accordingly.

Say what you want. He has 3 catches in the last 2 seasons. I have seen him drop a few..In his college career he had 12 catches. He may be able to catch..but his route running is not ready because he has NEVER done it at any level..

... and before yesterday Tony Romo has 0 career starts. Doesn't mean he can't start.I'm just saying that I've watched him practice and watched him play and he can catch the ball. Again, not like a WR and he sure can't run WR routes (but few RBs can) but he is definitely not a liability is those departments compared to other NFL RBs. His game is much more rounded than other one-dimensional bulldozers that he is commonly compared to by those that generalize based on size.

Jacobs if you believe(and I do) Tiki is retiring. Gotta lean toward a no doubt starter IMO.

Also, White hasn't played as much as I(and many others) expected. Jacobs has taken his game to another level this year. Ward just plays ST now and they were close to RB2A and 2B last year. There's a certain part of development Jacobs has crossed that White hasn't yet.

Jacobs, easily in my mind.

I think that LenDale (if he can even hack it as a pro) will be paired with a more versatile back in a Thunder & Lightning scenario (and likely will be paired with a back who doesn't have attitude, weight and injury concerns).

Jacobs has a chance to play the feature role but I suspect that he will be paired with a 3rd down back.

In a dynasty format I think Lendale has approx. 65-50% the value of Jacobs.

Jacobs runs like a psycho
This is a good point. If he's getting repeated carries throughout a game it's hard to imagine him keeping that kind of intensity. I was half expecting a defensive back to run away from him in terror at Dallas last week. But as it is right now, WITH Tiki, Jacobs is already pretty productive. He's going to be a touchdown machine regardless of who gets brought in. With 10-15 carries a game I think he's RB2 material at the least. 15-20 makes him a fantasy animal.

Umm..you never hear of Jerome Bettis? Played like 14 years...#5 rusher of all time
