Moss vs. Revis

Revis is really good. Easily one of the top at his position in the league. His make up speed is nasty. How do the Jets play Moss man up for most of the game and allow Welker to catch 15 passes is just down right pathetic though.
The problem is if they put Revis on Welker, then Moss destroys them. I think they could have tried something different to slow down Welker but they only have one quality CB and that's Revis. If he's locked up on Moss, then Welker's going to have a field day.
If Rhodes was still Rhodes of 3 years ago, they could put Sheppard or Strickland on Moss and just play Rhodes over the top. Yeah, Moss is great, but at least then, you're relying on Brady to throw it 40 yards. (as opposed to throwing 12 yards to Welker all day long)
Agreed. I mean NE did something very similar by taking Clark out of the game last weekend so Manning did not have that easy underneath move the chains stuff over and over again. Now Manning made the adjustment and started working other WR's and running more, but it was effective for the first part of the game for sure. I would have at least like to see the Jets attempt that.

it shows that Ryan has no faith in either Rhodes or Leonard to provide help over the top. Either that or he just didnt consider it.

I actually was thinking about this strategy before the first Jets-Pats game. (of course, welker ended up sitting that day, so it didnt matter). If the jets can get either a viable CB2 or a good cover safety, i think its a good game plan. Welker was just making it look so easy yesterday. The same routes over and over again. If was a member of the Jets D, i'd be very embarassed.

edit: i also remember at least 3 or 4 of those catches being against a LB. There is NO excuse for ever having a LB on welker. None. if it happens, someone didnt do their job.

Because they weren't playing Moss man up. At one point they showed a replay of Welker being wide open because Moss had four guys covering him.eta: But I agree Revis is easily one of the top at his position.

I was flipping between games, but a lot of the times Revis was man up against Moss from what I could see and he was actually fairing quite well. Even the Moss catches was good defense by Revis.

Yea, there were a few plays where Moss wasn't being defended by Revis but I'd say Revis was on him at least 95% of the time. He had safety help over the top on a lot of plays but that's standard operating procedure against Moss. But Revis was up on him playing press coverage on almost every play.
