Mount Union (OH) invitational began last weekend... (1 Viewer)

In light of recent history, shouldn't this thread be renamed "UW-Whitewater Invitational started last weekend"?

Whitewater coach Lance Leipold will finish the season then leave to take the job at Buffalo. I played against Leipold in high school. He was the QB at Jefferson and I played at Whitewater high. It's pretty amazing what's become of the university there since they made the decision to dedicate resources to improving the athletic programs.

Not many Whitewater alums here but a game like this has to make you smile!
Offdee is one I think. I'm a johnnie alum but rarely follow. Did watch them beat st Thomas this year.
I went to Bethel. We were good a couple years. Then Johnnies beat us at St Johns. When we were nationally ranked. And that was the game that gave the coach the record for most wins. And it was on Sports Center.
Gagliardi basically is the d-3 paterno.

Isn't there a size requirement to the divisions? Seems unfair a 17.000 student population plays against one w a 3.000 student enrollment...

Bump for tonight's Whitewater/Mt. Union game. My son has hockey practice tonight, I will have to miss some of the game, but hope to catch the second half.

Coach Leopold has more National Championships than he does losses. Step one completed y owat day the 3 sport sweep.
Close. 6 championships, 6 losses. The more astounding stat I heard today was that Mount Union is 114-6 since Leipold took over. Those 6 losses are to UWW in the title game.

Really curious to see what he can do in Buffalo

5-7, ended the season with 3 straight losses

It won't be in the championship this year. How do they not get seeded to have it a possibility? How long can it go?

WarHawks!!!

Considering how things have gone the last few years, shouldn't this thread be changed to the Wisconsin-Whitewater invitational?

St. Thomas (MN) has crushed every team they played this year. Wouldn't surprise me if they won it all.

Whitewater and Mount Union play each other next week

Mount Union plays Mary Hardin-Baylor this week and John Carroll plays UW Oshkosh. The winners go to the Stagg Bowl for the Division III Championship.
#1 John Carroll was defeated by UW Oshkosh on September 3 and has won 12 straight since. They beat Mount Union on November 12 and knocked out UW Whitewater last week.

Mt. Untion has won all of their games so far on the road.  Has anyone ever won the Stagg Bowl winning all of their games as the road team?

hfs, what a gutsy call on 4th down by Mary Hardin-Baylor!

first time in 12 years Mt Union is not in the final.  not Whitewater, either.

go Oshkosh!

Not exactly Div III, but JMU is on the road, and closing out a dynasty - holding a 10-point lead @ North Dakota State who have been in the National Semis - 7 straight years, and won the last 5 championships

Semifanals week.

Mount Union, down 35-10 has come back to take the lead 43-40 midway through the 4th quarter against Wisconsin Oshkosh.

Mary Hardin Baylor is up 21-0 early over Brockport in the other game

How does SUNY - Maritime get in this tourney at 5-5? Did they run out of D3 schools?
Their conference champ isn't in the bracket, so i wonder if they're ineligible. Google search didn't yield anything relevant - including 'dean' in the search in something related to college probably not helping.

With Dean going through their final year of NCAA provisional status, runner-up program SUNY Maritime will repesent the ECFC in the NCAA postseason as they have earned the league's automatic-qualifier. LINK
