Movie booking/convenience fees (1 Viewer)

It’s been going on around here for a couple years now. All the theaters have it when you buy a ticket but I just realized today that it’s when you book on their website only. WTH is that? I had to go into the theater to buy three tickets today because I had a gift card and no booking fee at the kiosks or the register but if you book on the same site as the kiosks at home it costs $2 per ticket as a “booking fee”. Not huge money I know but it does add 15% to the price of the ticket and for what? No wonder nobody is going to the movies anymore. It’s like a forced tip for movie tickets.

I haven't been to the movies in ages but when you order food on various apps it's higher price than at the restaurant. It's likely an "upkeep" fee. So I assume it's the same thing. But you are going to go to the theatre to watch the movie so just buy them there?

The pandemic devastated the theater business. They are looking for any way to make a buck these days. Online fees are a way of life these days.
