Movie Help (1 Viewer)

Ok, so in the tradition of such great threads as "Song Help," and possibly "Kitchen Help," I'm asking for movie help. Total shot in the dark.

I remember seeing one on AMC or TMC a while back. It's in B&W. It's a 60's flick. Teen movie. The only thing I can remember is that the end of it, there's a guy putting on Wayfarers, looking dead into the cameras for way too long. That's the ideological underpinning. He's straight Max Fischer from Rushmore. It's an angry movie, but earnest, one where he kind of has revenge on jocks and the popular kids, IIRC. Coming of age and all that. Very trite nowadays, probably radical back then. Looks like '64 or something. Probably bad writing and misguided politics, but great camera shots. Lots of close-ups of good-looking people. I think it takes place on a beach at the end. That's all I can remember. Not a masterpiece, but it was memorable, for some reason.

Any help from the film buffs? I've searched for 60's teen movies, but it doesn't seem to come up.

rebek without a cause.... i got nothing
This one has evaded me for about seven years now. Dang. I think he even puts on his sunglasses to early electric Dylan or something. Not exactly a world-burner, but the director wasn't afraid to take some chances.

Was going to say rebel or American Graffiti
Naw, not that, but thanks. This was late-night TMC or AMC. Probably the biggest screening this movie ever got. My only hope is that somebody else saw it and watched it all the way through, which admittedly might be a long shot.

Rebel was in color anyway.

Was the one you're asking about something good or something that might've turned up on Mystery Science Theater 3000? Were there any actors or actresses that you think might've been famous? (You'd have mentioned if you remembered any of their names, I assume).

Not ironically bad, but painfully emo at times. More than worthy of a viewing if you're into the teen movie genre and its history.

I think MST3K could have had fun with some of the shots. Oh, man. I'd have loved to have heard them and a lot of members on this board react.

beach party
Heh. No, don't let the beach part fool you. This was like a more intelligent Rebel Without a Cause meets the late 60's and 90's, even, in B&W. The more I hunt this film, the more I'm lionizing it. It's probably terrible.

British or American film?
Great question. American. It's very mod-influenced, but not a British mod film.
Try google image search using different key phrases like "1960s sunglasses movies" and see if the iconic image pops up?

Good idea, though. I admit it's not much to go on; hoping someone who is way into film is lurking around the board and knows this movie. I keep looking for 60's teen movies and coming up empty.

"Teen movies" will just get you a bunch of Frankie and Annette. If it's all emo, it's probably not classified that way.

How about Rumble Fish? It's set in the 60's, but made in 1983 and directed by Coppola.
