Moving on from the KC Defense (1 Viewer)

I've really enjoyed the ride with the KC Defense. But it's really let me down of late, a fluke game with OAK notwithstanding, and with a looming Week 10 bye followed by DEN twice in short order I felt a switch to a combo of OAK/STL was in order.

Seeing the Defense struggle and seeing Dwayne Bowe implode reminds me KC is a very overrated team, a fluke of a soft schedule, and I think by the end of the season San Diego will be a clearly better team. Not trying to take away from what KC has accomplished, but they are a work in progress and they need a WR very badly.

The defense has carried this team to 8-0 when their qb is alex smith on the other side. I think I'll ride them till the end and try to grab a defense for weeks 10, 11 & 13.

What injuries did the Chiefs have defensively to move on from them? This makes zero sense. They aren't a matchup defense. They are crushing the QB this year. I don't own them, but I would not consider dropping them if I did.

Your "argument" is a complete non-sequitur. Instead of pointing out possible reasons to be concerned about the Chiefs defense, you talk about Dwayne Bowe.

Picked tenn for kcs bye. They play jax. Then they play indy for the two denver games. Not dropping kc def though

Sorry for not writing well- the offensive issues coupled with a tougher schedule mean the D will be on the field more and give up more points. Jason Campbell lit them up- that is absurd.

I'm not lucky enough to have the Chiefs, but I did grab the Colts for the ROS schedule. I'd see if you could grab them to pair with KC and you should be fine.

I thought this at first too, and the colts are a fine option, but I really like tenn better. They get jax week 10 and week 16. Plus I think tenn may score better vs indy then the other way around. Locker does not turn it over....

Not trying to sound rude, but I was careful not to ask for advice in this forum- deed is done- this being more of a tribute / sayonara.

I owned Vick so now I re-own Foles after last night and this has destroyed my bench strategy. I don't have the courage to cut both of them and move on. Hence my painful decision.

kc d will be fine going forward. If you are counting on them to win a game for you, then you are in a rough spot with the rest of your team. I dont think you will see anymore 20-30 point games the rest of the way. For me I play it safe and go with what I know.

We can get -5 for points scored at 28 and -10 at 35. No way I am playing any def vs den. They get 35 when they are playing poorly

Put it this way. Kc defense is currently a top 5 scorer overall in most leagues. Are you dropping that player and allowing some one else in your league to pick that up?

Campbell "lighting up" the Chiefs included a 40 yard flea flicker for a TD, and a couple of additional long plays to Gordon and Cameron. Those are two very talented players, and Cameron's catch was a circus catch. It wasn't their best performance, but I'm not sure why you'd drop them at this point while they still lead the league in sacks and have been studly all season.

I wouldn't bench them vs. Denver. Have you guys seen the Denver line play recently? Manning is going to get crushed.

Skins put up 12 on them.

Interesting combo might be Oakland. Double digit points in every week for my league except the Denver game. They play Giants, Texans and cowboys weeks 10, 11 & 13. Giants are giving up the most points to opposing team defense and texans are 3rd. Cowboys are down on the list but the other two might be worth the combo.

Going with KC/Bills combo

Bills playing Pitt and NYJ week 10-11
I got greedy and didn't want to ruin my waiver priority so I was hoping Tenn would make it through waivers so I could pick them up as a FA, but they didn't. I'm going with this combo as well, but not loving it.

Oakland would be another decent option, but I really expect the Giants (week 10) to come out a better team after their bye and don't want to risk it. They'll have Andre Brown back, which will at the least make the defense game plan against a decent run game even if it's not there. Could just be some optimistic homerism though.

Depending on your scoring for defenses it makes perfect sense to sit the KC D against DEN (or try to find better matchups if you don't like their ROS schedule). If your defenses score points only for turnovers, sacks, and TDs scored then sure, KC D is a fine play against DEN. However, if part of your scoring for defenses includes points allowed and yards given up I don't like this match up at all.

Here is a quick example:

Lets say KC gets 2 turnovers, 6 sacks, 0 TDs, and gives up 31 points and over 300 yards against DEN in week 11. In my scoring that would be 10 fantasy points (6 sacks (6pts) + 2 TO (4pts) + 0 for everything else).

ARI plays JAC in week 11 who is averaging 10.8 ppg and 286 ypg -- 10 ppg would be 6 fantasy points and 286 yards would be 2 fantasy points. So based on these projections ARI only needs 1 TO or 2 sacks to equal the fantasy points scored by KC against DEN.

I just don't like starting a defense against a team where I expect to score zero points for 2 of the 5 scoring categories. Starting the game against a team where you expect to get points in the points /yards allowed categories is better because it represents a minimum score you can expect for that week.

Preemptively grabbed AZ in my leagues this week during their bye to pair with KC for the stretch run. It gets really ugly for KC following their bye next week, in terms of matchups, but I just can't let them go yet. They've been way too good so far.

I am dropping Peyton Manning in my league, it has been a great 8 - 1 ride but his line is falling apart and they have to face the Chiefs twice. I will be going with a combo of Jason Campbell, and Jake Locker.

Lol exactly the OP is an idiot. Lets drop the best young Def in the whole league. Houston,Thomas, berry,Poe and on and on this def has the best young players...

By the way what does Dwayne Bowe have to do with defense? You also realize San Diego will be lucky to 9 games all year!

I think nobiz has enough track record now to say going against his suggestions is going to be profitable.

I also grabbed Arizona.

I'm trying to find the best available for the bye + 2 DEN weeks.
