Mr. Baseball - Movies you love that got panned (1 Viewer)

Crazy People (Dudley Moore)
Some of the ad lines were hilarious!

You may think phone service stinks since deregulation, but don't mess with us, because we're all you've got. In fact, if we fold, you'll have no damn phones. AT&T - we're tired of taking your crap!

"Paramount Pictures presents 'The Freak.' This movie won't just scare you, it will #### you up for life."

Metamucil: It helps you go to the toilet. If you don't use it, you'll get cancer and die.

Porsche. It's a little too small to get laid IN, but you get laid the minute you get out!

United Airlines: Most of our passengers get there alive

Come to New York, there were fewer murders than last year

Jaguar - sleek and smart. For men who would like handjobs from beautiful women they hardly know!

SONY - because Caucasians are just too damn tall

Bolded = enjoyed a lot.

King Kong was (other than Jaws) one of my best going to the movies with my dad experiences. I was only 6 years old but remember all of it. We went to the Normandy on 73rd and Collins ave in Miami Beach. It was an old school single movie house with a balcony for smokers, rocking seats, giant screen. They had a 35 foot cardboard Kong draped around the marque of the theater. I remember being in awe. The line wrapped around the block to get a ticket. I fell in love with Jessica Lange at that moment. Every time I watch that movie I always have a smile on my face. And the soundtrack composed and conducted by John Barry is IMO one of the all time epic soundtracks. It is so under the radar because the movie was an awful flop. It was my first big monster movie in the theater. My dad showed me the black and white before as well as Mighty Joe Young to prep me. He hated this movie while I loved it and cried like a baby when Kong was getting shot up by the helicopters. The final scene of Kong laying there, the heartbeat thumping it's final beats....pure tears for me.

Funny Farm - My wife and I love quoting lines from this gem. Chevy Chase was in top form. A underrated 80's comedy.

Summer School - So cheesy now when i watch it. Yet back then it was so damn good.

Three O'Clock High - This came out right around the time Ferris Bueller did. This movie flew under the radar.

Helter Skelter - Was shown this in Sophomore Biology.....we had two football/wrestling coaches who dual taught us in biology (must have been 45 kids in the class back in 1986). They showed us this movie, as well as The Last Dragon. To this day...I never understood why LOL.

I don't think Helter Skelter would qualify for this thread. That got Emmy nominations and I'm pretty sure it was highly regarded.

Damn scary movie at the time when you realized it was all based on true events.
