MSNBC panelists make fun of Romney's black grandchild (1 Viewer)

MHP is awful. Never insightful, not the least bit interesting or witty. She's got a terrible lisp to boot. She can't go away fast enough.
Hey, that's "America's foremost public intellectual" that you're talking about! And "there is no one who communicates the work of thinking to more people with more rigor and effect than Harris-Perry."http://m.theatlantic.com/politics/archive/2014/01/the-smartest-nerd-in-the-room/282836/
Oof.

She's truly loathsome.

There's this promo they run of her yapping about education and she busts out "exspecially." A Tulane professor is saying that. And they didn't reshoot it. Wow.

So, to recap the last several days:

-Melissa Harris-Perry makes a seemingly genuine apology while nearly tearing up near the end.

-Alec Baldwin mocks her for it, asking on twitter if he will be forgiven if he cries, clearly oblivious to the fact that he is a pompous nutjob.

-Ann Coulter calls Harris-Perry MCNBC's "token African-American."

So, while Harris-Perry screwed up, and clearly only apologized because of the ####storm that happened, she is coming off not as bad as she did at first, thanks to the idiocy of dopes like Baldwin and Coulter.

I heard the tearful apology on the radio and I couldn't help but notice she only started "crying" when she was referring to other interracial families, probably some of her viewers who complained. But that last part is speculation on my part.

I don't think statements from people like Baldwin and Coulter are shielding her that much. She and MSNBC have taken a national beating. Nothing is going to change that.

Romney probably took some pressure off with his statements though.

I guess not, because it if that upsets you it seems to me like you are being very sensitive.
It's terribly lame to suggest that "the rightwing" will not like an ad featuring an adorable biracial family -- as if "the rightwing" in general are a bunch of racists.

Racists suck because they unfairly stereotype people. What the MSNBC tweeter needs to realize is that fighting against unfair stereotypes by unfairly stereotyping people is not a wise solution.

I am sure we could publish a book of "unfair" MSNBC tweets. I just don’t see this being a big deal, the "rightwing" is pretty non specific target. I guess MSNBC could apologize to the "rightwing", if the "rightwing" was offended.

Maybe the rightwing will hate it, but everyone else will go awww: the adorable new #Cheerios ad w/ biracial family. http://on.msnbc.com/1dPgQEU
Um yes it does.. “@msnbc: We are deleting the earlier offensive tweet. It does not reflect msnbc's position and we apologize.”

You read worse stuff all the time but this kind of thing should not be coming from any news organization.

The idea of professional journalism is almost all gone, but it's appears to be absolutely dead at msnbc.

I miss the days when news sources pretty much just reported the news.
True, me too.

And that offended people?
It's really not that strange that people that support right wing politics prefer not to be stereotyped as racists by news organizations.
Yeah, good point I guess. Probably shouldn't associate with all those racists, though...it'd probably help the image.
Better not tweet that

I am reporting you to Tim....May you suffer a long-winded mostly plagiarized lecture on why your post was offensive.

Dude, I know we disagree politically but there's no need to get all medieval on me. Jeez.

I think the problem was it came from a "news" organization.
Except MSNBC doesn't call itself a "news" organization and it is not considered as such - from Wiki:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MSNBC

MSNBC is an American basic cable and satellite channel that provides political commentary on current events and is owned by the NBCUniversal News Group, a unit of the NBCUniversal Television Group division of NBCUniversal. The channel features current events, information, and political opinion programming. Its name was derived from the most common abbreviations for Microsoft and the National Broadcasting Company.[5]
In any event MSNBC has issued an apology for the tweet.

They have an entire web page filled with news articles. Why are you being obtuse?

If you really believe they are a news channel, please notify Wiki of their error.

It's not wrong. Communicating information on current events is news.

Some members of the left (not all) are turning into reverse rednecks...if you think differently than them they simply hate you...a diverse society doesn't seem to include different opinions...

squistion, I normally enjoy your posts, but you're talking nonsense. Of course it's a news channel. How do I know? Because whenever there is breaking important political news (like the State of the Union Speech, as the most recent example) MSNBC not only covers it live but offers several hours of commentary. Come on now.

OK, I am glad to see that in the future, I can give a link to Rachel Maddow as an objective news source.

Seriously, MSNBC is no more a news channel, then FOX is a news channel. Both are predominantly opinion channels that incidentally also have news. I think most progressives/liberals do not think of it as a news channel or would argue that it is. Carrying some news or breaking news does not make it a news channel, per se, IMO but if you and others see FOX and MSNBC as legitimate news sources then we will have to agree to disagree.
