Muhsin Muhammad @ SD without Steve Smith (1 Viewer)

Remember when this dude had 16 TDs & 1400 yards opposite Steve Smith on this very same Carolina Panther team?

He should get a good # of targets this week, esp if they're behind late in the game.

I agree with your line of thinking, but Smith was knocked out for the season in the first game of that year.

I think Mush is a good value pick this year and may make a good WR3 this week. That said I would probably go Jennings. They should both have a good week.

with Marshall out of my lineup this week, I thought Mush @ SD would be a great play, but at second thought, I see a ton of running in this one. I certainly wouldn't start him over Jennings.by the way, Carolina +9.5 is a lock.

Delhomme loves to hone in on 1 receiver (See Moosh's stats the year SS got hurt). Moosh is a good play in PPR until Smith gets back.

Moose could have 6-8 catches today. This is a good call. DJ Hackett will also surprise. I also agree that CAR +9.5 is good play. Five of their seven wins last year came on the road. They are coming to SD to win and they know they can do it.

He's only had 12 TDs and 2100 yards in the three years since then. As far as those two categories go, that year was an anomaly. And I have my doubts about a 14 year veteran discovering the fountain of youth just because he goes back to his old team.As far as this matchup goes, the Chargers have a good pass rush and a very underrated secondary. They also have been having some trouble stopping the run, which is what Fox would prefer to do anyway.

I would start Jennings. I don't think Muhammed is going to put up great numbers today.

Plus, I always like having someone play on MNF!! Gives me one more reason to watch the game.

I wouldn't consider it a lock. I really just don't see how the Panthers are gonna put up alot of points this game on the road. The Chargers will load up the box and force the Panthers to throw it to Jammer and Cro playing man to man. TBH I see a blowout this game with the Panthers not being able to keep up.

Starting a young and number 1 WR in Jennings I think is a gimmeee over Moose.

Moose might get some looks, but I think too many are doubting Rogers and if the Pack want to win they will need to throw against the Vikes - not run.

The Chargers have some serious playmakers in the secondary.

Machine will get his looks, but with no separation speed, his TD's will have to come via red zone looks.

Gutsy call.

Has Hackett even caught a pass from Delhomme yet? I'm playing Moose in Marshall's stead over a couple of similarly ranked guys (Mark Clayton and Reggie Williams).

Assuming the game is close and/or Carolina is trailing we should see 25+ attempts from Delhomme. With Moose being the #1 WR, Delhomme's proclivity in locking to one WR, I would expect Moose to get 8-10 targets today.

What he does with them depends on the O-Line, Delhomme, and the Chargers DB's. I haven't seen enough of them this year to assess these factors.

That said, in a PPR league, I would not hesitate to start a WR I expect to get 8-10 targets.

Ok, even though we don't talk WDIS on Shark pool....It was brought up starting Mush over Jennings...

How about Mush over Bowe ?? I've got Housh - WR1 and Cotchery WR2 ...For my WR3 I'm thinking Mush over Dwayne Bowe.....

Any thoughts ?

DJ Hackett is the WR to own in that offense while Smith is gone. No way Muhammad does well enough to warrant a start. You'll regret it, especially over Jennings- playing the 32nd ranked pass D from last year with a hurt RB.

You obviously haven't watched many Bears games over the past three years.
Delhomme tossing the rock is alot different than Orton/Grossman throwing it. Chicago is a graveyard for wide receivers. Getting back in Carolina is exactly what the doctor ordered for Moosh. That being said, I'd start Jennings over Moosh this week.

It's an excellent call. Driver should have a solid game against Minny; Jennings will not. Nor will Rodgers, for that matter. Delhomme will be forcefeeding Moose every time he drops back, just as he did in the one preseason game Smith missed with a concussion.

Muhammad is seriously overrated on this board. No way I would start Muhammad over Jennings.

People here are saying Delhomme loves to focus in on one WR... I disagree... he locked in on Muhammad the year Smith got hurt and on Smith in recent years because their other WRs were so terrible. This year they have Hackett, who will be a better second/third option than Delhomme had in those other seasons.

Of a kind, what has DJ Hackett ever done to deserve the love he receives on this board? He had a nice Monday night game late in the season a couple years back that gets everyone all misty-eyed. To me he seems perpetually injured and unmotivated, which is prolly why Holmgren let him walk. I equate DJ with Reggie Brown and Donte Stallworth (anywhere but the Pats) -- i.e., guys you don't want on your team.

Holmgren let Hackett go because in 3 sesons with SEA he could just not stay healthy.Muhammad is 35 years old, I'm sure he's lost a step since he was last in CAR. I agree that Delhomme likes to zone in on one receiver, but at the same time I do not think that will be muhammad. Hackett gets love because he's got talent. He just can't stay healthy. He appears healthy this preseason, and at least for week 1. I can't back up my claim that Hackett will out-perform Muhammad with any facts or any links or anything. I'm just saying, this guy makes this start seem like a no-brainer and like a lock. It's not really. Hackett is a big consideration

Speed and agility were never Muhammed's strengths. He has always made his living on precise route-running, great hands, and an ability to adjust to a ball in the air that is just a notch behind Mr. Ocho Cinco. These are exactly the type of skills that have allowed receivers like Harrison, Bruce and Jimmy Smith to flourish well into their 30's.

I agree that Delhomme has focused primarily on one WR over the last few years due to WR#2 not being a good option. When Smith and Moose played together during the Super Bowl season, Delhomme spread the ball around to both of them. I think Moose is a good play today, because Hackett has missed all of preseason, and a big chunk of camp. Hackett will certainly play today, but Moose and Jake's timing and chemistry is great, whereas Hackett more than likely will need to work out some kinks, and Jarrett is also in the picture. Jarrett played well during preseason, and has earned some playing time this weekend. Hackett will be in the picture a lot for the Panthers this season if he can stay healthy, but I think for those wanting to slip Moose into their lineup today, he is a good option.

I'm no Muhammy fan, but I have a hard time believing that Hackett will get more targets or catches this year, barring injury. Short term with Smith out, and long term Muhammy appears the better option. Hackett could prove me wrong, but what would the logic be behind that opinion?

I think Moose could be in for a very nice year. Could be a very nice later rd steal this year.

He had 3 good games last season out of 6 games played, despite playing behind Engram and Burleson. :popcorn:WTF did Muhammad have his last good game? It was longer ago than Hackett.

Wow so Muhammad is looking REAL good so far with his 37 yards... You can bet Jennings does better than that.

Oh yeah, Hackett, 42 yards so far....
