This may be right up BigBottoms alley, but I'm sure there are others who can chime in.

My daughter needs a hard drive for her music, so she can mix, and edit etc.

I have been recommended these:

Those are kind of expensive, so I was wondering if this would be close to the same thing?

There aren't special drives for music. I'd just find the best combination of cheap and positive reviews.
