Music thread folks: What should be the genre of my next MAD artist? (1 Viewer)

I've got four ideas in my head for the next Middle-Aged Dummies (MAD) single-artist countdown. So I'll let the forum decide. To minimize bias (and keep the non-winners under wraps), I'm listing the options by genre instead of artist. I will reveal the winning artist after the poll closes next Sunday March 9.

No insight, but as an aside just finished listening to April Wine’s The Nature of the Beast on vinyl and thought of you. First time hearing it on vinyl in about 40 years - sounded sweet.

The Yacht or Nyacht guys have some strict criteria. I don't necessarily agree with them because Yacht Rock is more about vibes than the average genre.

It wasn't a genre until those internet comedians made it one.

In my 1975 countdown, I had four consecutive songs that would be called yacht rock today but were called four different things back then (soft rock, jazz rock, adult contemporary, etc).

I had some 70s R&B/funk as one of the two I was debating between. So, if you go psychedelic, I can use that as tipping me to make sure some representation.

(And it would not stop me from still doing it as some extra representation if you or someone else does that genre too.)

Zegras said he would do another single-artist one, but we don't know when. I don't think there's a concrete plan yet for what comes after the current countdown.

I dated a girl (who's now a famous architect, damn her) in college who's family went every holiday season to The Sweetwater for some Jug band who was there every year. Went with her a couple times... I was surprised how much I enjoyed it.

It was close, but Psychedelic Rock wins. It jumped out to an early lead but the others got closer over time.
