Commish decides to randomly set "selection order" for our draft and then you choose your draft slot in order of your "selection order." All well and good so far (I like the idea as it favors more knowledgeable players).

Ok, so commish finds a random number site and goes to work and whaddya know, he draws #1. He proceeds to take draft slot #3. Now, frankly, I think he should've waited for some input here and we could have worked out a method with some more accountability.

Second, the scoring for the league hasn't actually been set. The draft is in 9 days but the scoring won't be set for 2 more days. The issue being that he's already selected his draft slot and will now set the scoring after doing so. The commish is pretty much dictator of scoring and I know it's miniscule but his draft selection is more or less valuable depending on the scoring he sets (i.e. if QBs become very valuable in our 2 QB league then Peyton becomes a good pick at 4 negating some value, you can come up with your own other scenarios, blah, blah, blah).

Now, I don't necessarily suspect foul play on either count but it's certainly not erring on the side of integrity either. I'm getting out of this league next year but I'm wondering how to handle it for this year.

we do the same thing in reguard to draft position choice....but we do it draft day.... why would you need to do it ahead of time? and doing it himself with no witnesses is just bogus..... talk to the guy and explain to him ...this is a new league and we are not getting it off to a good start...a comish should NEVER do anything that even has the appearance of giving himself an advantage....and this assuredly has that appearance..... i say redraw on draft day with everybody present....

If nobody else was present when he did the selection order, that's just bogus. Tell Hitler to redo the selection order in front of others or you will all collectively fold from his league. And what's up with scoring not being set until 7 days before the draft? Scoring makes all the difference when you are planning on who to pick. I bet the only thing he did on time was collect the money from everyone. I suggest you go through your scoring and league rules with a fine-toothed comb. This little DICKtator may have thrown in some strange stuff, like giving TE's 3 points per reception.

If you can't trust someone to radomize a draft order then they probably shouldn't be running the league (or you shouldn't be joining it).He'll take LT, LJ, or Alexander with the 3rd pick. The scoring isn't going to change that. It seems to me like you are making a big deal about very little.

Couldn't agree more. If you are getting out of the league next year, why not make it now? Sounds like you are already pretty much checked out anyway. If you and others are going to pick apart everything this guy does, it sounds like you have a serious trust issue in the league. I agree that the commish should behave in a certain manner, but his league mates should also cut him a little slack at times.Have him use a site like irony.com for dice rolls with an email feature and security key for verification.

Everything should have been agreed by all and set prior to moving forward with any draft related stuff. Unfortunately, you are in a potentially shady situation with stuff being determined/adjusted on the fly!

Two things should have happened -

1) Scoring should be set before the random draw

2) Use a site for the random draw that allows an email to be included in the draw, so the commish's results are sent to someone at the time of the roll of the dice. You can use this dice server to accomplish this Irony Dice Server

Exactly what we do. Irony will e-mail the results to the commish & at least one other. The other owner can verify the legitimacy of the roll, as can the Irony site.

The pick order is going to stand (no one else seems to mind). I stated that I didn't think he was cheating but I did think he was making very bad decisions.

Turns out the scoring was already determined and will stand as was posted (he hadn't informed us of this and had actually told his to ignore it for a few days because he'd be tweaking it).

So... yeah, not ideal, but it's fine. He basically says "it probably wasn't perfect, but i'm busy and this was easiest and hindsight is always 20/20."

On the upside I got the #1 pick in the draft (3 ahead of me took 3, 2, 4).

If scoring had already been determined and disclosed, nothing to argue about on that front. If you trust that he wasn't cheating, it's good (but be sure to mention Irony.com for next year).
