interestingly, we wouldn't come back. our plan has been a relo to Italy down the line; however, my wife works for a global entity and she kind of mentioned our move. they said they would allow her to keep working there. this is 18-24 mos. down the line, but that will go fast. I am trying to find out how much a company will assist a moving employee. I heard that in Europe they pay you 1x a month. etc.
No, but being Danish I've transfered the other way a few times and everytime the company helped with visa and moving expenses. transfering back to Denmark they only paid the moving expenses obviously.

our dog is has extreme anxiety when we are not around, i can’t imagine 8 hours in cargo won’t kill him, honestly. we have thought long and hard, but just don’t want to gamble his life. it would make our lives much easier, but he just isn’t that kind of dog.
There is a car train from Hamburg to Northern Italy I believe.
It goes from Hamburg to Southern Germany............i am gonna need a long term car rental, i have been advised not to ship a car to italy, it is virtually impossible to reregister. Here in Denmark over half the non compact cars on the street are leased - and there are a lot of Audis, BMWs and Mercedes. I would guess that would be the case in Italy as well, although Fiat is the home brand (not a very reliable brand though)

no more quarantine, but i need a virtual book of info in advance for dog boy to go. i heard on the qm2 that after 6, you gotta be dressed. this ain’t gonna happen, to an extent. i won’t do any formal nights. i do not wear suits on cruises. looks like i have to bring an evening jacket. thinking, pair of black pants, pair of tan, mix some collars, 1 jacket and some shorts aka lounge wear. seems we may be in the kings court buffet a lot. i don’t need the dining room for witty banter.
Debating whether or not a balcony is needed here, I mean, its just ocean..........however, we are likely to go brittania club balcony, prolly around 5000- for both of us, all in. I think dog boy costs 1k.

Don't forget Brexit. If you get off in the UK you have to do it there and then in the EU as well. IIRC the UK rules for pets are among the strictest in the EU

yeah, hitting the mainland makes sense from a transit standpoint. EU too. no driving on the left on the right side of the car. don’t have to cross the channel.
House looks amazing and peaceful.so, with covid hitting 2020 and our dog getting sick thereafter, plans changed. the last time we were in italy was that 5/2019 trip. our apartment has been empty and untouched, except for 2021 when my realtor let my HVAC guy in to install a digital thermostat. we pretty much said we’d let our dog live his best life and start to look again once he goes…..so, after that we began a planning a return trip for 3 weeks in May to looks for property, hitting florence and rome too. we started to make a list of properties and ran across what we felt was a too good to be true property. my wife set up a virtual tour with the agent. when we saw it, we knew…….we told the agent we would talk prices and see if the seller will agree to a price with us, if they do verbally, we’d get on a plane and look in person and decide if go forward with paperwork. we saw the property friday and made return trips saturday evening and sunday afternoon to walk the village, see the views, listen to night noise. we met the agent today at our place today, told him we are going forward and to put our current place on the market.
