My own shot at the "Perfect Draft" (1 Viewer)

Posted this in the pinned thread on Coming Features, but thought I'd give it its own thread, as well. Would welcome thoughts from others.

Well, to kill the time waiting for "The Perfect Draft" articles, here's my own quick shot at it. I'm working off a 10-team format.

QB: Wait until at least round 9 to take your first QB. The QBs ranked between 4 and about 20 are all roughly comparable. Get two of them late.

RB: Get two of the top 18 with your first two picks. Then wait until rounds 5-8 to pick up back-ups. There's a big tier of RBs in RBBC or near-RBBC situations--no sense taking someone in the 3rd or 4th round who could easily lose their starting job. Try to lock up a handcuff (Dillon-Maroney, Jones-Barber, etc.) as your back-up.

WR: Unless you want to take Antonio Gates (I personally think he's bound for a fall-off), use your third and fourth round picks to get two of the top 16 WRs. For some reason, I see fewer potential break-out guys further down the list this year--but that may just be the fog of the preseason.

TE: I see several guys that could represent value if they drop far enough--Heap if he drops to the 7th, Cooley if he drops to the 8th (third-year guy; Al Saunders offense), Watson if he drops to the 11th, Winslow if he drops to the 12th, Troupe late in the draft.

K/D: Per usual, wait until the end on these positions.

Nice job, but it's honestly not saying anything we hadn't heard countless times before. And I'd still love to know what kind of leagues devalue QBs so much that quality passers can be found in the 10th f'n round. Sounds like you might as well categorize them with kickers and defenses.

It's not that QBs aren't valuable (6pts per TD pass in my league), it's that everyone past Manning/Brady/Hasslebeck this year seems to clump together. How much confidence do you have that Bulger will be better than Brees? Given this outlook, I'd prefer to wait and take two guys fairly late without losing much in terms of projected value.
