now with horn gone i see this guy maybe reaching 800-1000 yds and 7-9 tds. from the many mocks i see he was not even getting picked. whats your take on him?
Because he will be a free agent after this season.I have said this before: if NO thought so highly of him, why spend a first round pick on Meachem? Henderson is ok as a deep sleeper because rookies don't always produce immediately, but I wouldn't draft him before the 12th round.
Because N.O.'s philosophy is to take the best player available in the 1st and they had Meachem rated way above everyone else who was left.I have said this before: if NO thought so highly of him, why spend a first round pick on Meachem? Henderson is ok as a deep sleeper because rookies don't always produce immediately, but I wouldn't draft him before the 12th round.
I think Henderson can be a viable fantasy option. NO's offense is ready to officially pass Indy as the best offense in the league.
I don't think it's a guarantee that Marques Colston keeps going - the man was a 7th-round pick, and he'll certainly get more attention from defenses this year.
Could the New Orleans starting WRs end up as Devery Henderson and Robert Meachem? Who knows.
Even if Colston stays in there, I think the New Orleans offense is going to be productive enough that 2 RBs and 3 WRs all will have nice value. If anything, they'll all drag each other far enough down draft boards that you can get some good value in redrafts and dynasties.
Same reason they spent a 1st round pick on McAllister when they had Ricky Williams. And a 1st round pick on Bush when they had McAllister. Best Player Available.I have said this before: if NO thought so highly of him, why spend a first round pick on Meachem? Wow.. good call, I totally forgpt about that...Henderson is the field Strechter.. he should have a good yr this yr and maybe even next yr.. but as/if Meach improves, Henderson role will decrease into a primary slot WR. JOMISame reason they spent a 1st round pick on McAllister when they had Ricky Williams. And a 1st round pick on Bush when they had McAllister. Best Player Available.
I'm not down on D Henderson, at all. I was watching both him and Colston right up to the regular season in 2006, to see which one to draft. I picked right. That being said, I think D Henderson and T Copper are on the same sort of watch this year; one won't make it and the other will be a viable late-round draft choice. I had my early $$ on Copper. But when Meach was drafted, I kind of swung back towards Henderson. If Henderson doesn't win the WR2 spot outright this year, I have to question his ability, work ethic and/or attitude. He's had plenty of chances.Just my 2 cents.IdI believe as you can see in my sig roster... about 50% of WRs picked in the 1st RD bust. Both Henderson and Copper become FAs this yr and I got the feeling that Copper will the one cut (if hes not a June 1st cut this yr). I think Henderson will be on the field a lot more than Meach, playing the WR2/ Slot WR.
the thing that works in copper's favor is that he will work the underneath route (which is where Brees likes to look). he will take the hit (and maybe drop the ball as a result). henderson is simply a downfield threat with questionable hands. henderson will be given a chance but i'm not really high on him. i do believe that the saints offense really doesn't favor a classic #2WR. they have too many weapons - Eric Johnson, Reggie, Copper, Henderson, Meachem - to make a #2WR worth salivating over. they just spread the ball around too well. if colston goes down or slumps maybe but beyind that, i don't know...I believe as you can see in my sig roster... about 50% of WRs picked in the 1st RD bust. Fair enough: and how long did they keep Ricky after drafting Deuce? And how long did they take to get Bush involved in the offense?I believe as you can see in my sig roster... about 50% of WRs picked in the 1st RD bust. What does any of that have to do with my post??????Fair enough: and how long did they keep Ricky after drafting Deuce? Man I am on the same page here. I think many teams really pushed WRs out of need this year.Henderson is a solid guy for a late rounder, this years Mike Furrey?Meachem along with Bowe have bust written all over them. henderson could very well go for 800- 1000 easily with Brees chucking it.

What's so outrageous about it? Is it possible that Colston, three years from now - is just another guy? Absolutely. His stats were awesome last year, but it's certainly possible he doesn't pick up where he left off.Yes, New Orleans' statistically had the best offense in the NFL, but Manning and the Colts always get all the credit. This could be the year that swipe that crown and walk in the boots of the '99 Rams.I think Henderson can be a viable fantasy option. I think I'll pass; people will be laughing too hard to pay attention anyways.
Oh, and the ridiculousness is obvious.

Who care's what round Colston was drafted in. Once you make an NFL roster and crack into the starting lineup what round you were drafted in is completely irrelevant. Colston's numbers could fall off this year, sure but it has nothing to do with what round he was chosen. What's so outrageous about it? And Colston was a 7th round pick. Who's to say a 7th round pick couldn't look absolutely regular in one offseason?
