My Top 8 college RB's - Impact Pro's NEXT YEAR! (1 Viewer)

FYI, it appears that WR Troy Williamson of South Carolina will also forgoe his senior season. I think he's one of the nice sleepers in the draft. He has a very nice combination of speed, size, and agility. He would be a household name if he played on a team that actually threw the ball.

Wow, I was thinking Spurrier would boost his stats even more next season, but best of luck to him. He is a good sleeper pick.....

So any of you Peterson folk finally seeing the light that is Reggie Bush after last night? Speed kills and Bush has more of. Not to mention he is more versitile. I don't think I saw Peterson break one tackle last night nor make a USC defender miss. Bush is still the best RB in the country.

I don't think so. Bush is an odd player. He has great speed and quickness, but he seems a bit lanky for a RB and doesn't look like he gets a lot of yards after contact. It will be very interesting to see what the NFL team that drafts him ends up doing with him. He doesn't fit the ideal NFL RB mold, but he's the kind of guy you'd want in there on almost every play. He may be the first real WR/RB hybrid at the next level. As for Peterson, he didn't look too good last night. He had a nice run or two, but was mostly bottled up. I still think he's a better NFL prospect as a pure runner than Reggie Bush. Like I said, Bush is more of a hybrid.

I'm still confused as to what is so bad about Bush's size. The guy is 6'0 200 lbs. Even if that is "inflated" weight, you dont think the kid can add 10 lbs at the next level? That puts him right there with most back is in the league, if not bigger.

I'm still confused as to what is so bad about Bush's size. The guy is 6'0 200 lbs. Even if that is "inflated" weight, you dont think the kid can add 10 lbs at the next level? That puts him right there with most back is in the league, if not bigger.
Those who think 6'0 200 lbs is not good size for a RB, add fuel to the fire and ensure them of that fact. That way, he may fall to you later in the draft. Don't you love playing with people like that? Like taking candy from a baby

I didn't say he had bad size. I said he's lanky for a RB and that he doesn't seem to get many yards after contact. To be clear, I don't think Bush is a bad prospect. I just think people who are ready to declare him the next Marshall Faulk or Barry Sanders should realize that for all the great plays and the hype, he's still a RBBC member who had under 1,000 rushing yards this season. Could he be a featured back at the next level? It's absolutely possible, but it's also possible that he'll be a slot WR/third down back who never rushes for more than 1,000 yards in a year. I'm not predicting bad things for Bush. I've actually been a big believer since I saw his high school highlights, but I think it's wise to be a bit more cautious in your optimism. Bush is a great player, but he doesn't fit the ideal RB mold. That doesn't mean he won't be successful, but it does mean there aren't a lot of precedents by which to gauge his pro prospects.

I love this topic. Keep the talk flowing here.Bush is real interesting. Media and analysts love him, but he only gets like 8-10 rushes a game. Hard to assess him as a full-time RB. I know he does other things - catches the ball as a WR and returns - but I wonder how that will translate to the NFL in a couple of years. I see some random 2006-type NFL draft projections with Bush rated highly in future drafts, but I will believe when I see it. People refer to him as the next Marshall Faulk, etc. - but Bush doesn't run the ball much at all where Faulk did a lot at San Diego St. I wonder whether NFL teams will raise red flags on him since they will never see him in college as a true, traditional running back. Hard for some teams to see value when they think along traditional position lines. Each game I watch him, the more I think he will be, at best, a true RB/WR in the NFL - maybe a little like Westbrook, but bigger and faster. I keep thinking his best option will be landing with a unique offensive mind who must use him all over the field. But if he's in the right spot and used maybe similar to Westbrook, he might put up some good fantasy numbers like Westbrook. But I doubt he will ever be like a true, traditional RB in the NFL.

I'll go you one further and say Bush gets converted to WR immediately. I think the team that drafts him is going to want him to have the ball in space, rather than getting hit 25 times a game with his size/build.

Priest Holmes had 59 carries for 324 yards and 13 TDs as a college senior. Great TD ratio, but only 59 carries. Not to say Bush is another Holmes, but I suspect that there have been enough rare cases that the scouts will give him full considerationi as a RB. Plus, Bush has a high profile, which will also cause scouts to look past his totals.

It's almost that time to start thinking about the draft. A lot has changed, with some deciding to stay in college, some have slipped in value, and some are creeping up everyone's draft board. It should be interesting. The current consensus top 3 are Benson, Cadillac, and Brown.
