Myles Jack vs Jordan Hicks (Dynasty) (1 Viewer)

I may have the opportunity to have my choice between these two players in my upcoming draft.  Who do you prefer as a long term player in a big play scoring league (8 pts sack/ 1pt tackle)?

I am torn as I believe Hicks will be far superior for this year as Jack gets his feet wet but I wonder who has the better long term value.  Both have injury concerns and I can't decide who I think has the better future.  Very close to me.

Who you got and why?

I snagged Hicks in my auction last weekend.  He's 24, coming off a torn pec, and wears the dot.  He was a monster for the first half of the year.  Not sure what Jack & JAX have in store for us.  I think Telvin Smith is still the #1 guy there.  But at least Jack is healthy and practicing.

JACKSONVILLE JAGUARS: Myles Jack, linebacker. The Jaguars' second-round pick has been a forgotten man on the national scene, but he remains a viable candidate to contend for Defensive Rookie of the Year honors, based on his rare combination of skills (speed, athleticism, versatility and explosiveness) as an MLB. He flashed those skills in two quarters of work against the Jets on Thursday while directing the Jaguars' second-team defense. Jack finished the night with two tackles, but he made his big impact on the defense by serving as the traffic cop for the unit. As he gets more comfortable with his knee and the Jaguars' defense, Jack will begin to deliver the splash plays that made him a force at UCLA. GRADE: B

In most leagues, IDP is enough of an afterthought that replacements arent hard to trade for.  So my usual instinct is to prioritize proven stars over potential stars.  So I would favor Hicks here.

If you're in a good IDP league that combines savvy owners with a rule set that keeps IDP value high, I can see going for Jack. I do think his ceiling may be higher in the long run.  Personally, I'll still take strong immediate production from Hicks.

This is a league that has good IDP ownership and the scoring is such that IDP's are just as valuable as offense players.  We structured the scoring to try and make every position equal for similarly tiered players at each position.  It has worked decently keeping the IDP values high.

I was originally set on Jack however I thought Hicks was going to be kept.  Now he could be available (if he makes it through the RFA auction portion of our draft).  I think Hicks is the right choice if he makes it to me because he has proven he is a top producer (at least for most of a year).

Jack if the thought is to flip him quickly while the rookie hype is high, but if the player will be kept and a starter for your team I'd go after Hicks.

Suspect the Jags will be better overall and that could mean fewer opportunities to rack up tackles, especially with Smith & Poz around.  With Chip gone in Philly the overall snaps for Eagle defenders could also drop but Hicks was impressive last year and could see his value go way up if he shows it again.

Jack and not close

hicks reminds me of Paul Worrilow. More right place, right time over extreme talent like jacks is

Does the Eagles signing Tulloch sway your thoughts?  I tend to think it is more about Kendricks than Hicks but it seems they will slot Tulloch in the middle and move Hicks to WLB.  With his athleticism do you think that is a bonus to Hicks?
