Clever heist movie:
It's not a great movie, but Showtime has been running the Brosnan/Russo remake of The Thomas Crowne Affair and I get sucked in every time.
Love this movie! So many positive waves...Clever Heist——Kelly’s Heroes
Clint Eastwood
Donald Sutherland
Telly Savalas
Don Rickles
Carroll O’Connor..![]()
Harry Dean Stanton
Stuart Margolin
Gavin MacLeod
There's something about a suitcase and a lot of car chases but for me, Ronin lacks the defining element of a heist movie. Also Ronin is technically a heist movie.
Always loved that movie. He is great, liked him as Bond also.
Another one that I get sucked into that would fall into the clever category is The Italian Job. (Donald Sutherland, Mark Wahlberg, Charlize Theron, Jason Stratham, Seth Green, Mos Def, Edward Norton)
C’mon! We gotta go on the lam!Clever - The Usual Suspects, Rififi
Violent - Reservoir Dogs
Neither and my favorite- Bottle Rocket
Always loved that movie. He is great, liked him as Bond also.

What was clever about it?Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid?![]()
Good choice on violent. Such a hard scene to watch after George Kennedy beats the crap out of Jeff Bridges. Then as him and Eastwood drive away, you see him slowly dying.Clever: Topkapi - A merry band of Maximilian Schell, Melina Mercouri, Peter Ustinov & Robert Morley break into a museum in Istanbul
Violent: Thunderbolt & Lightfoot (Eastwood and Bridges in an early Michael Cimino film)
Speaking of Sir Alec, The Ladykillers is another one that's both clever and violent.Clever: The Labender Hill Mob, starring Alec Guinness.
Loved it!!!Can't believe no one has mentioned the greatest heist movie of all time, The Italian Job. So clever.
Always loved that movie. He is great, liked him as Bond also.

Whatever you call it, it's very good.Insein said:Also Ronin is technically a heist movie.
I'll do you one better - check out "Asphalt Jungle" and you'll see what Kubrick stole from Huston.Clever: The Killing - see what Tarantino and Nolan stole from Kubrick
