Nate Burleson broke his arm early Tuesday morning in car accident (1 Viewer)

False Start

Nate Burleson broke his arm in two places during an early Tuesday morning car accident.
Burleson was driving home after watching Monday Night Football with teammates when he was in a single-car wreck. Other than the arm, he's doing fine. We don't have a timetable yet, but fractured bones typically take 4-6 weeks to heal. Burleson is undergoing surgery Tuesday, suggesting the recovery period could be even longer. It's a huge blow to the Lions as their veteran ranked 21st in the NFL in receiving yards (239) and was tied for 11th in catches (19). Ryan Broyles was on a strict snap count in Week 3 thanks to his knee issues, but he'll be given every opportunity to run with the slot job now. If Broyles' knees hold up, he'll be capable of WR3 production in PPR formats.

What's this mean for the Lions, do they go after Gordon or does Broyles step up before he hurts a knee again?

Why not both? Both Burleson and Broyles are best as a slot receiver. Gordon would fill an huge need that they were hoping Titus Young was going to fill, an outside receiver opposite Cavlin that can stretch the field.

Here ill fix that for you:

Exactly. I think I heard that Gordon is one more strike away from a year long suspension. I don't see the Lions going after a guy like that...not after the Titus debacle

Pat Edwards continues to intrigue me as a number 2.... Might get a chance to get on the field more often and prove me wrong.

Early morning hours, perfect weather conditions, nice smooth stretch of highway that I drive all the time, 4 lanes each way..and a pizza falls off the seat???

Call me cynical but there had to be a wee bit of cognac involved here.

Unless you're suggesting the police are covering up for him, it looks like no alcohol was involved (per the police).

Not suggesting anything...just have not seen too many 1 car crashes in perfect weather conditions on a lighted smooth stretch of highway in a vehicle driven by a healthy sober person.

Im not too familiar with the ins and outs of the Lions:

Does this affect Stafford value at all?
I'm thinking this effects Bell's value more, to the positive side. Maybe the slide Bush to the slot more and put Bell in as the RB? Could happen...

How did Broyles look last week? Did his route running and hands closely approximate what we saw last year before the ACL injury?
He looked good. Caught all 3 passes that came his way, for 34 yards. He was going to start getting more playing time, and this will accelerate that process. He's the main beneficiary.

Broyles has great hands..the concern was in camp that he was a couple of steps slower than last year and his burst was gone. Very understandable coming off back to back ACL tears on both knees. Don`t think we will see the real Broyles until late this year or next season.

Keep an eye on Kris Durham,

Am I the only that sees it for at least this week? Bump Calvin Johnson A LOT. Did we already forget what the Steelers wr1 and the Bengals wr 1 did against the Bears? Even Jennings put up 84 yards with Ponder throwing him the ball.

Broyles does a great job of getting open and gobbling everything up that comes his way. Doesn't have breakaway speed but he's definitely a must add in this offense.

The Lions have talked with multiple teams about receivers available for a possible trade.
With Nate Burleson (arm) out indefinitely, the Lions are looking to upgrade at wide receiver. Josh Gordon and Greg Little are both reportedly being shopped and are possible trade candidates. Contract-year WR Kenny Britt has been phased out of the Titans offense and could also be available.

More likely something he inhaled, which led to the early morning pizza run.

Is pizza the new cover up for trying to light a bowl and drive at the same time? I'm kidding but this is right up there with Brian Griese tripping over his dog as he fell down the stairs drunk.

Maybe it's just me, but "suggesting" something seems to be exactly what you're doing.

Nate is on the complete opposite end of the STUPID scale from Titus.

By your avatar I assume you are from Michigan and you should know that drivers, and roads are far from perfect in Michigan

Talk of Detroit being interested in trading for Josh Gordon following this news. That would be interesting.
