I can see why you'd question it tho. Denver's Def is doing some tricky stuff.Like John Lynch was on the line of scrimmage a couple of times while DJ dropped back into safety role with Webster sliding in middle.
I'd be extremely surprised if Webster posts similiar stats each week as a 2-down SLB. The Bills were not in many "3rd and long" situations, but...when they were...it was DJ and Gold playing in the nickle.
I guess the better question is how did DJ Williams look in the middle? I heard reports in the pre-season that Webster could move into the starting MLB role if Williams struggled.
I can't imagine that they'll move DJ out. As said, concerns in the pre-season, so this isn't news. I bet he makes steady progress at the position and he keeps it.
Denver's Def won't really shine until at least mid-season.

That's what I'm saying - there were concerns in the pre-season about DJ. My question is whether he looked good or bad in there. If Webster plays well, there's the chance they move DJ outside again?

I think Nate's chance at winning the job has passed. It's DJ's job to lose and I think he played well enough to keep it.Tho some 'expert' on the radio right now is saying that DJ isn't a middle LB, nor do we have the DTs necessary for this scheme.
I thought DJ played pretty well. He made quite a few tackles and had a nice sack. He tried to made great tackles on a few occasions and whiffed on the RB. Maybe that's an angle thing I'm not sure, but it showed good aggressiveness.
He seemed like Denver's best LB IMO. I used to be a fan of Ian Gold 3-4 years ago in Denver before he went to TB. He doesn't seem like the same player anymore..

I watched the NFL replay of the game today and from what I saw DJ looked good. There were a few plays that he obviously over pursued, but there were also a few plays in which he brilliantly fought through a gang of blockers to make a great tackle in the backfield. I still think it will be about week 6 or 7 before we will have a definitive opinion concerning DJ. The one thing he will have to learn to control the most is his speed. He's blazing fast. I was shocked how fast he got into the backfield and get that one sack he had. The thing holding DJ back the most right now however seems to be the DLine. I wasn't overly impressed with them.
