National Strike Against Trump Feb 17 (1 Viewer)

I really don’t understand most of you people. Someday you’ll learn, NONE of the politicians care about you. If you are a righty and you say things like “Dems don’t work anyways”, you are either being obtuse or are plain stupid. Same applies if you refer to Obama as Obummer or some other stupid name.

If you are a lefty and think the Reps are racist because they don’t agree with you, you are either being obtuse or are plain stupid. Same applies if you refer to Trump as Drumpf or some other stupid name.

Now of course, some Reps are racist as are some Dems. Some Dems don’t have jobs, as don’t some Reps. The bottom line for me is, a lot of people need to grow the #### up and act civilized, even when they don’t agree with someone.

Who let this guy on the internet?

Lol most liberals don't have jobs anyway? So are they striking already or?
Odd, I thought it was the Trumpkins who where whining about not having jobs - that's why they voted for him, right? So he could give them their dead end jobs back - that was the whole point of electing him. You must have dosed a little too hard on the meth today, you should really try to lay off that while your posting your brain dead talking points.

Who gets more hand outs than the churches?   Such fraud.

Help your fellow man, HELL NO, believe in Harry Potter, NO TAXES.
The Supreme court feels that taxing churches breaks down the healthy separation of church and state and leads to the destruction of the free exercise of religion.

Not sure what you are getting at with the Help your fellow man part.

Enough #####-footing around.  I need definitive answers and no reference to what might have happened in the past when other partisans arranged protests or strikes.

1.  Will there, or will there not be math involved?

2.  Will there or will there not be appetizers?

Is Trump #####ing about the Johnson Amendment because he genuinely feels that it's an infringement on free speech or because evangelicals largely supported him and are generally more willing to speak out from the pulpit on political matters? What is Falwell and that bunch nothing else but a heap of blurry lines? JesusPAC?

It is one of the brightest lines in the legal separation between religion and politics. Under the provision, which was made in 1954, tax-exempt entities like churches and charitable organizations are unable to directly or indirectly participate in any political campaign on behalf of, or in opposition to, any candidate. Specifically, ministers are restricted from endorsing or opposing candidates from the pulpit. If they do, they risk losing their tax-exempt status.

:goodposting:

"American democracy is weakened when we allow our political dialogue to become so corrosive that people of good character are turned off from public service, so coarse with rancor that Americans with whom we disagree are not just misguided, but somehow malevolent.”

I guess I'll drive the old SUV in case some hippies decide to block traffic.  Maybe I should take it to a body shop and see if they can give it a Mad Max upgrade.

To no one's surprise, this thread went off the rails, down the hill, crossed a creek, and jumped over a lazy brown dog.

I don't get why people look down on protests. How do you think we got the Civil Rights Act? So protests are as important as letters. And today you can be actively protesting and emailing at the same time.
We didn't get the Civil Rights Act through single-day "LOOK AT ME!" protests. We got it through years of boycotts, sit-ins, and people being willing to protest indefinitely until there was real change, not just until it stopped being convenient.

A real "national strike" would need to be an actual strike. Don't just take the 17th off. Take off the 20th, and the 21st, and every work day until Trump changes his policies. If you get fired, you get fired. When people are actually willing to risk something, that's a protest. Until then, it's just a vacation day in disguise.

Everything starts somewhere. And again this strike is just one guys idea. This isn't organized, as far as I know there is no plan to strike at all. And again I was referring to protests in general not this particular op ed.

I got only enough gas to make it to my appointments and back today.

[enter a bunch of idiots being like OOOOHHH, LEFTY LIBTARDS!]

Because I'm turning my car in from its lease tomorrow.

Spoiled child?  That's rich coming from the guy whose side is currently in the middle of national hissy fit and mass hysteria.
You've been a big sissyfit in these threads complaining about other forum members for weeks.  People have been focused and responding to the news, youve been pissing yourself about forum posters critiques.  Its funny as ###k!

You could say it's HYSTERICAL!

Oh yeah..."critiques"  -  is that what you're calling temper tantrums now?

I don't get the butthurt resulting from  Americans exercising their right to free speech. You want to protest something? You have my full support. If you feel the need to break the law to make your point, do the time without whining if you get arrested.

If you are watching a protest you don't agree with or like, look the other way, organize a counter protest or STFU.

Or not. You are free to express yourself as you see fit... up to the limits of the law.

I support your right to whine, I just don't want to listen to it.

I'm thinking that your perspective is a little scewed,; in that whatever the news regarding Trump you pounce.   It could actually be good news for us as a country, but you don't see it that way.  You have a side & you have your news source.   good for you, but your hate permeates this board & your opinion comes out clear.  Therein lies the divide which we can't over.

When the right did this they were called teabaggers and racists.  Did you think you wouldn't get a reaction?

Geez.  I already have two other protest/riots to attend that day.  It's going to be tough squeezing this one in.   Do you know if they'll be handing out coloring books?
Are you one of them paid protesters?

If not, then congrats...you'll be meeting the criteria!

3 birds, 2 stones and 1 coloring book... ;)

There is some information that there are leftists groups planning on turning this into a nationwide Berkeley type event with arson and violence.

This should be posted on my facebook wall 3 times a day.
