We're in our second year of doing this with baseball and Scoobus suggested we give it a shot with hoops, but he's shy.

So, here's the thread to justin gage interest:

Here's what Eephus wrote for the bases draft to give you an idea.

Official rules

Preseason draft for sim replay using http://whatifsports.com/nba-l/ starting when the NBA season ends. Player eligibility: Any living person is eligible to be drafted but they must meet WIS eligibility minimums to compete in the sim (200 minutes). Full and combined seasons from 2012-13. No salary cap, no clones, 15 man roster (I think). WIS costs about $15 for a team.

24 team snake draft consisting of at least 18 rounds (final answer). No supplemental rounds. No trading of draft picks permitted until the 4th round has begun. Player-for-player trades are permitted at any time. Exchanging of draft slots may also be done before a drafter's first rounder is made.

Some notes on the sim:

- fatigue and injuries are based on total minutes played for a season

- a player will become fatigued and may suffer an injury if he is overused

- if a player's team played fewer than 82 games in real life then his minutes available will be projected to an 82 game season

- players must have played at least 200 minutes in any given season to be eligible

- if position effectiveness is less than 100% for a position, the player's performance will suffer when playing that position

After the season we take our best 15 man roster from the 20 players drafted and put them in a Whatifsports league and simulate to see who kicks the most ###.For the baseball, I've also set up a free roto league so you can watch your players performance during the year. So, we could do that too.

A lot of the problems are normalization-related.A lot of them aren't, but this should be a lot better than the all-time hoops sim.

Expanding a little on the sim, I believe there are 2 games per day, one in the a.m. and one in the p.m. Basically before the games you set your roster positions, allocate minutes, designate assignments on defense, select tempo (it's really not that complicated). Then the sim runs the games and you check box scores. At 2 games a day, with 82 games per season, plus playoffs, the sim should run about 2 months.
