4.17 DeAndre Jordan, C

Supposedly he's made huge improvements to his offensive game. I don't care though, I just want his rebounding and defense.

PG Stephen Curry

SG Dwyane Wade

PF Amar'e Stoudemire

C DeAndre Jordan

Really like this pick, worst case he's a great defensive Big off the bench. Tre and I were chatting about him earlier today.

Yep, Boozer and Jordan were two guys that I just mentioned were nice grabs for these teams without a big.

What is PERand usage %
PER is a stat created by basketball nerd John Hollinger that attempts to combine every stat into one number that sums up a player's per-minute production. It isn't used directly in the sim, but it's not a bad gauge of how valuable a player might be.From the usage thread on WIS:
Usage% is the player's possessions (FGA + FTA * 0.44 + Turnovers) per minute as a percentage of his real-life team's possessions per minute. This value indicates how often a player either shot the ball, drew a foul, or turned the ball over. The SimEngine uses this value in relation to the other 4 players on his team to determine how often each player gets the ball.

What is PERand usage %
PER is John Hollinger's player efficiency rating. It's a system he uses to rate players. There's a link in the OP on usage% that tells you more about it, but it's basically a system the sim has devised to determine "who does something" based on the 5 players on the floor at any given time.

thanks guys. probably should have looked at those before drafting
Eh you have a general idea of it since no one really knows how the sim exactly uses usage rate.If you have Monta Ellis and Carmelo Anthony on a team both will shoot a lot at the expense of others. Between DeAndre Jordan and random big man the SIM won't let you give DeAndre Jordan more touches than rnadom big man even if you want to because Jordan has 10% USG vs 24% USG even though Jordan's FG% is higher (60% vs 53%).

Went back and forth over which of those guys to choose at 4.16.

How bout this

Lets say I pick a guy who shoots a lot of 3s. Do I get to say bring him off the bench to launch if I am down with 5 minutes to go or does the system do that automatically

Glad you went with Boozer. He's a really good pick IMO, but Jordan fits my team better at this point.

From my experience, you pretty much just hope for the best.

Eh you have a general idea of it since no one really knows how the sim exactly uses usage rate.If you have Marcus Thorton and Carmelo Anthony on a team both will shoot a lot at the expense of others. Between DeAndre Jordan and Carl Landry the SIM won't let you give DeAndre Jordan more touches than Landry even if you want to because Jordan has 10% USG vs 24% USG even though Jordan's FG% is higher (60% vs 53%).
Weren't you #####ing about spotlighting a day or two ago?

One of the things that sucks about the sim is that you can't really control who is on the floor at what time. You can set your starters and the number of minutes you want everyone to play, but the sim gets to make the substitutions and it doesn't do the greatest job.ETA: The sim will switch your team to a 3-point offense if you're trailing in the last minute or two, though.

Favors is a good choice here. It's time for him to start logging some minutes and take a "next step." They've got a lot of post players but he should be able to get some run if its ever going to happen for him.

Rudy Gay

Likely to have 100 at SG, SF,PF so he could end up starting at 2 or as a super-sub. Decent defensive ratings on WIS and a lot of flexibility for an 18/7 type player.

Rudy Gay SG/SF

Danilo Gallinari SF

Tim Duncan PF/C

Dwight Howard C

On my phone, please PM next

Seriously?

I looked at the sheet a couple times, just missed it. In fairness to me, I think he would have been a much better value here than where he was taken :)
