So, I managed to win a ticket for the $300K Thu NBA Santa Slam on Fanduel. I am still trying to figure out the Basketball daily and have not been having the best of luck lately. I have never been very good at GPPs (football or basketball).

Would love all the help I can get.

What are the target cash and gpp scores for nba FD again? Last night did just 1 5050 with the lineup above, and while it easily cashed in a 5050, the cut was 291pts.
I read some where that cash was 275, but not sure. earlier this week I posted a 269 and swept my double ups. Last night I posted a 297 and went 2-8
Bump for popsecret. Target scores for cash and GPP? Is cash 4x salary and GPP 5x salary, as a target?
Found this blurb below on RG. And from another helpful forum, seems like 275-300 points for cash games (closer to 290-300) and 330+ for GPP are the target totals. Makes sense based on 5X below.

Based on how FanDuel typically prices their players, you normally want 5x a player’s salary for most guys. That means if a particular player costs $6,000, he should score in the neighborhood of 30 points to be considered of value. Elite players really only need to hit 4x their salary to be valuable, while bargain bin players should be closer to 6X.

If you’re considering a high-priced power forward who costs $10,000 on FanDuel, for example, he’s valuable if you have him projected anywhere around 40 points (4x salary) or more. A backup who costs only $4,000, however, should be expected to score 24 points (6x salary) if you want him in your lineup.

GPPs are sucker bets. They pay the top 10%, and really only the top 20 spots are good money.

Do some for fun. 5% of your bankroll. $1 and $2 ones. Why not? It's fun to imagine hitting one of them.

But you can make consistent money if you know your stuff, doing 50/50s, and other cash games.

Nice work. Do you know how large this tourney is and the payouts yet?

Keep an eye on Varajeo news. Weird looking injury tonight. Given his history, doubt he plays the next week or so. Tristan looks to be a nice play on Xmas.

I don't know a lot about basketball, but I wanted to keep playing daily so in the last week I have been trying some 2 dollar GPP and I have not done well. I forget if it was this thread or the Shark Pool thread that recommended the Fake Basketball site to help with your picks. I have been using their free section to help make picks and see how their performance ranked before buying their cheat sheets. They have been awful so far, I mean god awful. It would take forever to do them all, so here are just a few

Tueday Dec. 23 - They had 2 free articles. In both those articles they failed to recommend either of the top 2 scoring point guards last night. Westbrook or Lillard, they never mentioned that Deron Williams was injured and might not play leaving Jarrett Jack as a top cheap option, nothing about Eric Bledsoe who had 45 +, Alex Len had 30 +, Jameer Nelson who got the start an put up 30+ and was only 3600.

They did recommend Jimmy Butler who had a horrible match up and produced like it, Kobe Bryant who didn't play, Draymond Green who killed my team, Luol Deng was horrible. Mareese Speights, who I have never heard of had 13 points, Nerlens Nolan was horrible. John Wall and Stephen Curry were way under what they should put up.

You should get on a few twitter feeds. They key is setting lineups right before tip-off to find out who is inactive and which low dollar players are going to get action.

I was. So I guess they can kind of be given a pass for Jameer Nelson, but Kobe was questionable all day and they never mentioned it. Deron Williams was out last game and missed shoot around. Why would Jack not even be listed? Other than Tyson Chandler I seen no mention about the Suns or Mavericks which are too very high scoring uptempo teams. Looking at his stats, Westbrook looks like the Odell Beckham of basketball right now, and not one person on the site even mentions he might be a good start? I am still learning, but it looks like so are these guys

Can one of you who knows about NBA send me a Christmas lineup to play? I have no clue who any of the players are but want to play a few lower limit GPP's tomorrow.

Like everything there except Kris Humphries. His numbers are trending in the wrong direction.

A lot of those guys will all have a pretty heavy ownership, especially Westy, LeBron, and T.Thompson. I can tell you that my lineups, I was starting with LeBron, T. Thompson, and S. Williams, and going from there. Thompson is such an easy call, and a low price, that his ownership% will be huge.

I like that lineup in cash games. In a GPP, assuming your studs do what they are supposed to do, and assuming a high ownership for T. Thompson, which I feel safe doing, my guess is that your contrary picks are Adams/Humphries/Crawford. You need those three to go off. And you made the move of Wade over Jimmy Buckets, so you really need Buckets to lay an egg, and clear out those teams. And the Bulls are playing the Lakers.

Westbrook is so expensive, if he scores 45, it's disappointing.

I wouldn't be surprised if the big GPP winners fade Lebron and Westbrook. Kind of fun to put in your favorite bargains, like Thompson or Brooks, then build a team without LeBron and Westy. Can really put some nice players in there.

I know. And in a cash game, it's crazy talk. But on Fan Duel you need 65 points for him to hit value in a GPP. With a short slate, everyone's on the same value plays. Everyone is gonna be on Thompson, Birdman, and Williams. With Westbrook, you have to have those guys, just to field a lineup. If you fade him, and Westy scores 48, it';s and advantage for you.

If you start Westbrook in a GPP, and want to really cash, you need a real low percentage guy to go bonkers.

Good posting. I'm in the Santa Slam and am not playing Westbrook.

Here's a lineup fading LeBron and Westy, I am using this in 50/50s:

Wall

Brooks

Wade

Crawford

Pierce

Marion

Stoudemire

Gasol

Jordan

Do you guys play on DK?

I'm conflicted on which is the best site to focus on. FD definitely has more novice users, but DK has more lineup flexibility to get more of the guys I like in the lineup. On FD I find myself basically having to coin flip on which player to put in my lineup- which makes it more of a crapshoot. On DK I can get both. I don't have enough time to really do both or I would.

MY Santa Slam lineup consists of:

Not sure how you don't understand their POV or that it is worth mocking. Fading a top high priced and high owned player is certainly a viable strategy in tourney play.

fading a guy that has a 50 floor with durant out and was only 25 percent owned in the shot? You are right, I won't understand their POV. It isn't like Westbrook was 80 percent owned

Cousins at C he is still cheap for his upside and he has a great MU, obvious start

Kemba at PG still cheap for his upside with lance out of the LU with a great MU

Monta at SG, theres a blow out risk but he should get a lot of points even in just 3 quarters if its a blow out

Shabazz / Chandler at SF - Shabazz's price is still cheap, ride him until they up the price too much. chandler with a few string of bad games got cheaper and now has a nice MU

- Greg Monroe at PF . Monroe is currently priced as the third wheel between him Josh Smith and Drummond. With Josh Smith gone, Monroe should be a very good pick tonight and other nights until the price reflects josh smith being gone.

Anyone else have anything?

Shawne Williams SF MIA CLE $4,100
Kris Humphries PF WAS @ NYK $4,500
Tristan Thompson PF CLE @ MIA $4,800
Steven Adams C OKC @ SAS $4,500

I am thinking of using this line up for the 300K contest on Fanduel tomorrow. Thoughts?

Fade Westbrook with durant out? No ty

How is that working out for you? Lol
haha touche. Would have been just fine if Jackson hit what he was projected.

So you knew he would be 25% owned? You are not even giving their POV a chance when hindsight is 20/20. Perhaps they thought, with the small 5 game slate, his ownership numbers would be even higher. Still, a crap game puts 25% of the field with a slim, but more like none, chance of winning the big prize. A 55 point game doesn't come close to eliminating the non Westy owners from the big prize. That's worth a buck or two to some.

Just looking at prices:

I like O'Quinn a lot tonight- especially since he's now a PF. Shabazz obviously. Ibaka should be good value again as well.

Westbrook was below that 50 point 'floor' two games ago.

Whatever, he was a good play last night.

The important thing here is that we finally have Shark Pool-type ####heads cluttering up Fan Duel threads. I was getting tired of reading quality discussion.

if you are referring to me, I thought it was a good discussion of the pros and cons of the fade. I apologize.

I'm sure this has been asked and answered a million times, but my search skills simply aren't getting it done so forgive me...what is the site most FBG-like for the NBA?

I've found most articles and people I read about refer to to Fan Duel pricing, so I usually play them more. Draft Kings is smaller, but also has beginner leagues which you can play for your first 50 contests.

I'm still struggling with which one I should focus more on as well.

The one I've found so far is rotogrinders.com It's not exactly fbg-like imo but it's about the closest that I've found.

Thanks, PM. I'll check it out.

I'm using Fan Duel unless somebody convinces me another site makes more sense; I was referring to a one-stop shop type place for information and insight.
