I personally think Cleveland is a team that could win 60-70 games a year for the next 5 years with Lebron.
If I'm Lebron, it's a slam dunk. Wiggins, Kyrie Irving and Lebron....are you kidding me?
Cleveland looks to be in great shape, and I think Lebron takes that team from 40 wins to 60 wins immediately. Once they gel, they could be practically unstoppable.
Lebron has taken an extremely flawed Heat team to four straight NBA finals. Wade is a shell of his former self, and hasn't really been Wade since their first championship. Bosh is an average PF. The rest of the team was horrible and they didn't have a bench.
I think we are all forgetting that we are talking about one of the top 3 players in NBA history. In his PRIME.
Surround THAT GUY with Kyrie Irving, and rookie talent like Wiggins....I think it's a recipe for a 5-6 year dynasty. And better than that, the possibility exists that when Lebron is 35 and aging, Irving and Wiggins could carry the team through the grind of the regular season.
If Lebron tries to piece together another Heat championship or two, that's a distinct possibility, as he's that good.
But if he goes to Cleveland, he could realistically join a team with the ability to win 4-5 championships in the next 7 years.
I'm all in on Lebron to Cleveland. I think it's a huge mistake if he passes this chance up.
Yeah, he MIGHT put at risk his ability to win a championship in 2014-2015, as the team gels and Wiggins learns the ropes. But once the team gels, it's a ten-year dynasty that allows Lebron to win championships into his old age.
It's also a best-case scenario for Wiggins, as he has absolutely no pressure around him. Just be a complimentary player to Lebron.
Also..what if Anthony Bennett gets it together?
And then if you gut the Heat, the Cavs get their top ten draft pick NEXT year?

Western conference. Plus if he wants help from a PG and a wing defender to lighten his workload in the regular season Houston's probably not the best option.
ETA: Plus there's the whole public perception thing. If he wins a title in Cleveland he's a hero, if he wins three in Houston he's a mercenary. The greatest mercenary of all time, but that'll still be the public perception.

Where do you see Cleveland finishing next year with James considering a healthy Rose and the same Pacers team? I'd think they'd be able to pull out a 3rd seed.

Absolutely no idea. If I had to bet my life I'd say 3 seed and get stopped short of a title either at the ECF or the Finals, but I really have no clue. That's another thing that would be fun about it. Could be anywhere from a 45-50 win team to a total powerhouse.

I would think McRoberts will be playing the role of how Rashard Lewis in the playoffs did. Just with more energy and defensive abilities. With Bosh still playing Center mostly.

But Houston is best fit to contend right away and in the near future while being able to take on his salary. Cleveland isn't contending for a year or two.
Also, how much does LeBron want his ball handling duties cut? Seems like that is his best asset on offense in that he can create off the dribble for himself and teammates. I'm sure he could work with Irving but seems like surrounding him with shooters is better. Not to mention, while his defense on the perimeter wouldn't be lessened, I imagine having Howard behind you would be fun.

Yeah, there's a lot of potential but worst case, I can't see them lower than a 3. There's so much young talent that could be taken to the next level with Lebron leading the way.

He won 60 games once with the Heat. Couldn't even get 60 this past year in the vaunted East, granted they coasted a bit. Again, LeBron for Deng is not a 20 win swing. And most of Cleveland's assets are question marks. Even Kyrie has some question marks around his health, defense, and whether he can take the next step in his development.
Obviously LeBron can help a ton. Takes any offensive output off Wiggin's shoulder, some ball handling away from Kyrie and probably opens up a ton down low for Thompson or Bennett. But not seeing how they are instant contenders.

There's no way the deal gets done without Wiggins involved. Cleveland already offered the #1 pick for Love but talks died because Love wouldn't re-sign (then later said through his agent that he 'definitely would' if they signed Lebron). I don't get all of this talk implying that the Wolves have no leverage in trade talks. Most of the teams that have expressed interest in Love won't be able to afford him next offseason, so they need to acquire him via trade. If the Cavs try to play hard ball and won't trade Wiggins for Love (which, let's stop here for a second, WHAT!?), the Wolves will trade him somewhere else. He's getting moved eventually for something. Good luck signing him on the open market without any cap space.

Granger is a nice get bc Lebron likes him and his skill set. Not sure about the Bosh thing but thankfully this will all be over soon. As to the size issue: Bird comes back, Oden is still in the mix (and another year healthier) then there is Dalambert etc etc. Heat for the past 4 years have been searching for a big man. Hasn't stopped them from getting to the finals (or winning 2). Also, the lack of a big man is not the reason they lost to San Antonio

Easy to see Cleveland contending in 2015-16. So you're talking about one year ... maybe. Not out of the realm of possibility that Cleveland could contend in a weakened East next season by the time the playoffs roll around.

They went from 61-21 to 19-63 when the lost Lebron. I think he's a 20 win swing especially considering they also got the #1 pick in the draft.

Hes much better offensively as a center, but can't really protect the rim or defend other centers (or really PFs for that matter). Pretty bad signing, IMO.

There are no rim protecting C's available. Outside of that, some shooting and hustle from McBob was about the best they'd do. Anybody better is getting more than 4x23 this off-season.

Excellent piece by Haberstroth on ESPN re: LeBron's truth worth, and why he's demanding to be paid the max this time around.
If you're one of the NBA elite talents, you're already taking a huge discount even when you sign for the max. That's why it's insane for those guys to take significantly less, especially when their careers are so short and they are essentially a knee injury away from losing their livelihood.

If you're looking at money in relative terms, is it better to take $16mm and potentially be happier on a good team than play on a dead-duck team for $20mm a year? Tim Duncan seems to be ok.

I agree they are underpaid because of the CBA, but Lebron'e not a knee injury away from losing his livelihood.
Lakers probably aren't the only team dumb enough to have given Kobe that kind of money. Rose could get a max contract if he were a free-agent this season. Amare's health concerns weren't a secret when he signed this deal.
None of those guys are Lebron either
