Gasol missed 33 games last year.Gasol is the most important piece the Grizzlies have.
Go look at the Grizzlies record with Gasol playing and without him playing.
Gasol missing that many games really hurt last year and they still won 50.
If they stay healthy they will make the play offs.
Unless I'm wrong.
I get all that. And I also think it overstates it to divide it so neatly into with/without Gasol, since the huge majority of that success meant that all three guys (and for most of it, Allen) were suited up and contributing.
And I think that's kind of the key. But would it really be unforeseen for any or all of those guys to come in around 69-70 games again, when that's what they've all been doing their whole careers?
Obviously, anything goes if someone goes down for the year. But it might be insane to expect full seasons out of any of that crew.
I'm just trying to look at it objectively. I like the team. I just have misgivings about how reliant they seem to be on a very small number of guys, plus how unreliable those guys' bodies seem to be.
But hey, I called them a playoff team anyway, so it's not like I'm doomsaying. Just trying to see both sides of the coin.
