*NBA THREAD* Abe will be missed (7 Viewers)

I can't even watch this garbage. I tried, but I can't. Screw these bs fouls and technical fouls being called. How can something that bad happen in professional sports? Absolutely astounding.

:goodposting: At this point, I'd rather just have no refs and let the defense call their own fouls, playground style.

I actually think that would be a better game. I've played pickup with lots of d1 and a few nba players and it is always cleanly called. Both the guy with the ball and the fouler have, I dont know, integrity and honesty.

You can't just slap the arms of a jump shooter when he's shooting. The first one was BS, but the last two were legit.

Drinking good beer tonight, eh Abe?

You think I'm bs'ing?

Kobe is just flat out off. His jumper has been so bad recently. He'd due for some shots to start falling, if the Lakers can survive tonight.

David Stern must be so proud of his officials tonight. Ticky tack foul after ticky tack foul, on both sides, non-stop. Nothing like slowing this game down to a crawl by calling everything a foul.

It shows you how good the Thunder are, though. The Lakers are hitting nearly every freethrow and they're still behind.

Well, at least we Laker fans can relax for one night. Whew!

I thought that the commentator was right- the Lakers should have fouled before allowing Durant that shot. Don't know why more teams don't think about that...

Lakers shoot 38.6% from the field. Primary culprits: Bynum 2-13 (15%), Pau 3-10 (30%), and Kobe 9-25 (36%)

At some point, those three All Stars are going to have to give LA better than a combined 14-48 (29%).

2 were ticky-tack. I love the NBA but they have the worst refs in any major sport.
Had to turn the Spurs game off half way through the first quarter. Obviously the memo went out to the officiating crew to extend this series no matter how blatantly obvious they had to be. Couldn't stand to watch it anymore.

 Obviously. How often do we have to read this crap year after year in every sport? If you truly believe that NBA officials are given their orders from the league to behave in a biased manner toward or against one team, then you should have turned it off and refuse to watch any more NBA ever.

Wonder why they didn't "extend" the Heat/Knicks series past five games. It's not like they'd want the league's biggest market to stick around a bit longer.

I doubt direct orders are given, but the officials know what Stern wants, and that is for series involving "name" teams to go as long as possible. More games = more ratings = more money for the league. To give a non-Laker example, remember Game 3 of the Orlando/Cleveland series in 2009? Everything in that game that was called seemingly went Cleveland's way, but unfortunately for Stern, the Magic so thoroughly outplayed the Cavs that it didn't matter.

Plus, there is also the issue of home teams almost always getting the home cooking when it comes to calls in big games. Happens all of the time.

Lastly, a game like last night, where the officials were calling a foul seemingly every time someone got breathed on, is a complete embarrassment to the league. 70 free throws in one game, one that didn't even involve overtime, is nothing short of absurd.

The Heat won every game by double digits. Plus, the Heat are one of the biggest "name" teams right now (probably still below the Lakers and Celtics). Is there an athlete in sports talked about more than LeBron James right now? Stern wants him and whatever team he is playing for lasting as long as possible in the playoffs. If Pacers/Heat Game 4 is close down the stretch, don't think that the Heat won't see a few iffy calls go their way.
