*NBA THREAD* Abe will be missed (6 Viewers)

Bynum continues to be dominant in the paint. It's like watching Shaq during his prime with the Lakers. He is unstoppable in the middle.
That is possibly the dumbest thing I have ever read on this board.
I have been on staff for 8 years which means I've been around for close to 9 And I agree with you completely. This is akin to saying "you know, jay pharaoh is as funny as Eddie Murphy on Saturday night live!"

I'm glad I have your stamp of approval!

And Tim, I tend to like and defend you, but seriously, that is worse than Tgunz circa '04 or jmon when he got his kobe doll.
That was when Kobe emerged as the best player in the NBA, right? I wasn't around here back then, but I'm betting Tgunz and jmon were justified.
Yeah, that was back when the NBA heads on the board were convinced Kobe was just another Allen Iverson who had ridden Shaq to 3 titles and would never sniff another championship. I argued otherwise, and suggested that Kobe was more Jordan than AI.

Shaq in his prime may be almost as underrated as dream in his prime. At their best, those guys inspired "please god let him get the bubonic plague before tipoff" fear in opponents. Andrew frigging Bynum does no such thing.

Man you're amazing.
Are you watching this?
No, but 10 points in the first half doesn't exactly make me think of Shaq in his prime. But you're never prone to exaggerate.
It's not the number of points (or rebounds, for that matter) it's the way he looks when he's making points and rebounds. He's consistently getting great position, and when he gets the ball he's showing fine offensive touch moves I've never seen from him before.
That's great. That doesn't make him Shaq in his prime. I don't know why this needs to be constantly explained to you.
Of course not. Shaq was great consistently, game after game, year after year. Bynum's only performed like this for 3 1/2 games. But in those 3 1/2 games, he is dominant and his game reminds me of Shaq.I don't know why this needs to be constantly explained to you.

Dr. Gobbler is right- for tonight. The Lakers did not play well at all on defense, and they had great difficulty with Portland's speed. Hopefully they will shore this up. I believe they can. If not, it's going to be a long season.

Seriously though, Ryan Anderson has been a beast from downtown. One of the best complements I can imagine for Dwight Howard. Almost as good as a Dirk and Dwight pairing would be...
He really has been great. Maybe the one thing that will actually keep Dwight in Orlando. If he keeps this type of play up all year, it would be hard to walk away from a 22-year-old with so much potential. I don't see much of a reason for him to take much of a slip either -- his play isn't fluky.

Not sure Westphal was the biggest problem. But I think it's the right move. Need to get someone that can enforce some discipline.
Sounds like they just fired the only person who ever tried to discipline DeMarcus Cousins.
Good point. I need a new team. :kicksrock:
Hold everything. We're back. :) New coach new attitude. Down by 21 and come back for the win.

Haha, good stuff. At least the 21-point deficit didn't turn into 35 during second half. I'm not sure if Smart did something to fire the Kings up at half, if he made a couple of half-time adjustments, or what... but you would think/hope that as pros, the Kings being embarrassed at home by the Bucks would be enough motivation to get out there in the second half and play their hearts out.

Well Bynum is missing a lot of free throws - very Shaqesque.

On TNT, after the game, Kenny did mention Bynum stealing a page out of Shaq's book when they were doing the little pick-up game thing on the set. They were talking about Bynum going to the middle of the lane, as opposed to other centers who go straight to the low block, then get themselves pushed away from the basket.

Shaq demonstrated. He did pretty well, considering he's no Andrew Bynum.

Man the Bulls play hard and tough. They aren't overrun with talent outside of Rose, but damn those bastards get after it.

Magic were thoroughly outplayed and outcoached tonight.

Thanks to Thibs. They challenge every single shot and get in passing lanes. Its refreshing to see, but makes me think other teams are just playing lazy basketball.

Other teams are DEFINITELY playing lazy basketball. It's ridiculous how much harder the Bulls work.

You would absolutely drop the hammer on anyone who suggested that the emergence of a 3pt specialist would possibly keep a superstar in town. Ironic to see you say this.

I said if he keeps that type of play up all year. I never compared him to a top-10 all-time player. And I'd say he's more than just a 3-point specialist. He's a decent enough rebounder as well.

Can some one help me with the draft?

The rockets pick sent to the nets is lottery protected, right? The Knicks pick to the rockets is not, right? So Houston could end up Witt two lottery picks if they and the knicks miss the playoffs, right?

LOL, like that's such a ####### big deal anyhow. I write that after 3 games, Andrew Bynum reminds me of Shaq and I can't believe the amount of #### I get for it. I never said that Bynum was the equal of Shaq or even close. Tonight's game proves it- Bynum only has 7 points with 5 minutes left. What makes guys like Shaq elite is their consistency, and Bynum doesn't have that- hopefully he will someday. But for 3-4 games this year he's been dominant. I think that when you watch a player that impresses you, and he reminds you of an elite player, it's perfectly acceptable to make that comparison, and it's dumb of people to jump on it.

Wait, you weren't joking?

It's too bad that Kobe tore that ligament in his wrist, b/c he'd be on his way to an MVP campaign if fully healthy. He has much more lift, quickness, and agility in that knee - looks far more healthy than in years past. That German surgeon is $.

I believe Knicks pick is top 5 protected.

You would think that a player that flops as much he does would have learned early that you don't break your fall with your hands.

Are we chalking up the 18% from 3 to small sample size?
