Tim Duncan is still underrated.
He is the most humble player. He is quiet. I think this is why he is under the radar. Other good players draw attention to themselves. Timmy is just doing his job and doesn't talk much.
Timmy never shuts up and is always telling everyone his opinion on everything.
This is about the stupidest thing I've seen in this thread. When does Duncan EVER talk? He only gives interviews when the league forces him too. This sounds like a seriouss case of sour grapes (for whatever reason).
I thought it was a joke involving another Timmy.

I guess I'm not always the shaprest tool in the shed.

ROckets run out of the gym. Simmons made the point that the THunder were a bad matchup because they play the same was as Houston, they just do it much better. Absolutely true - the Rockets weren't able to get to the rim and weren't hitting from outside. Game Over. It was a bit of a miracle they had it tied in the 2nd considering how bad they were playing. Parsons, Harden, and Lin were 2-15 from deep. Oof. OKC shoots 53% from the field and you get a 29 point victory.

Anyone in here have/use NBA league pass broadband?I was thinking about getting it next year and canceling cable...
I had it last year and loved it. Will definitely be getting it again. Excellent video quality that adjusts well to your bandwidth. Best thing about it is that the app is free, so I was able to watch any game I wanted on my LTE phone as well in high def/ I own a galaxy note 2 which is perfect for this stuff - I could watch whatever crappy show on TV my gf wanted to see but have my note propped up on the table beside me and flip through all the NBA games. The only thing you have to worry about are local blackouts...which you can IP mask as a work around at home. I didn't bother with that however as, being in Toronto, the only thing I couldn't watch were crappy Raptors games.

I don't know if it works they same way in Canada but here in the US all national tv games are blacked out as well. So anything on TNT or ESPN you can't watch on League Pass.

Yes it is the same so anything on NBC is blacked out, as well as sometimes on TNT (but not the fan voting games). We don't get ESPN though so that cuts down a lot of blacked out games...none of our sports channels play any bball outside of the Raptors.

Uh, wut?

Sportsnet

The Score (That doesn't include Court Surfing which was on at least once a week)

TSN

There is rarely a night that one of these 3 doesn't have a game on. And that isn't including NBATv

OK...well it feels like nothing is blacked out to me. Its still only like 1 game/time slot or less. Court Surfing doesn't count for blackouts, of course.

Moe is right though in that when I tried to use the app the few times I was down in the States it seemed like 4-5 games were blacked during at prime time and that's not close to the situation here.

I was just referring to your comment about us not getting anything but Raptor games on our sports channels. Hell, I'm pretty sure we get more televised NBA games we than we NHL games.

Good luck getting out from this. A one-dimensional SG with bad knees coming off a 40% shooting season.
Amazing that after 1 season into that deal, they're already going to be forced to take bad contract(s) back for him. They're better off keeping him as Austin Rivers looked atrocious this year. The guy should have stayed at Duke for another season or two (or three).
GM Dell Demps did not rule out a potential trade of Eric Gordon in the offseason.
The writing has been on the wall since the team re-signed him as a restricted free agent before the season. Still owed north of $40 million over the next three seasons, Gordon has had back and knee issues continually throughout his brief career. It will be difficult to acquire a package deemed satisfactory unless the Pelicans are just looking to get out from under that contract, and the latter scenario is entirely plausible. And that was the center piece of their Paul trade. Nice work Stern, you really kept the Hornicans from screwing themselves with that Laker deal you overturned.

Someone that can't get decent free agents will likely take a chance. I could see the Suns (who wanted him in the first place) coming in to view. It wasn't long ago that Gordon was thought of as an up and coming shooting guard. But part of being a shooting guard is actually, you know, shooting.

His demeanor seems to have changed as well. I really remember him crying about calls a lot a few seasons ago.
it's not that he "cried" about getting a call. it's just that he always made that "who me?" expression - like they invented a new type of foul to get him with - to the refs.

Oof, this is a major negative. Really terrible. I need the TNT/ABC broadcasts.

Not sure you can second guess the defense at that point. Yeah, it would have been nice to push him further outside but there was a little contact as it was and you really don't want to foul in that situation. The game's best point guard made a really tough shot against good defense. That's great basketball all around.

Houston is one of those places where Comcast and NBC put together a "network" for the team (and the Astros) meaning non-Comcast subscribers can't watch the games. Sunday night's game (televised on both Comcast's rockets channel and on TNT/TBS) was watched by 7x as many people on TNT than comcast.

I remember years ago when the Lakers and Rockets played (late 90s) and a buddy at work told me that we would not be able to watch the playoff game on regular TV. He said it would have to be ordered on PPV. I was dumbfounded.

Is that just within the Houston area or are you using the nationwide numbers for TNT? If the latter is that really all that surprising? I mean I know Houston is big but it's not that big.

The bolded part seems weird, if not illegal. Comcast Sportsnet DC covers the Wiz and the Caps, but you can get the channel on both Verizon and Direct TV.

Local. Basically it shows how many fans didn't have access to the games this year. Time Warner, dish, And direct tv don't carry the rockets channel.

That sucks. Sucks even more for non-Comcast people in Houston who bought League Pass thinking they'd be able to watch the games that way. These regional sports networks are such a scam. That bubble is going to burst sooner or later.

I know a lot of people in Los Angeles had a similar problem last year. Time Warner has an exclusive agreement to broadcast Laker games locally, and as of last year a lot of other cable providers in the area didn't carry their channel. Not sure if that was changed this year or not.

I understand the team perspective: they get a guaranteed amount of money. But I can't imagine there are many households that will switch to Comcast from a current provider just to get the games. There can't be enough of them to justify the price paid by the network to the team.

That's normal, what seems illegal is tying a channel to the same company's cable provider. It's a vertically integrated monopoly. You have to offer the channel to other cable providers. Maybe they do offer it but at a ridiculous price or something. That's more of a gray area I think. I'm not an antitrust lawyer, though, so definitely not an expert

I would assume that the other providers have the option of carrying the Comcast network they've just declined to do so up to this point. Comcast probably wants 5 bucks a subscriber from the other cable companies or something ridiculous like that.

That makes more sense. Although that should also be illegal. Would love to see the feds force the cable companies to either decouple or charge cost-of-service rates, like they do with electric power. Or maybe a state could do it if they're not preempted by federal law. The current structure is total :bs:

In Houston the other companies are balking at the fee.
That's what happened in LA initially, but I believe the outcry was so large that eventually some of the providers caved. Ultimately the fees just get passed on to the customers and cable gets more expensive for everyone. Yay!

The time warner/lakers thing started this season. Not all the service providers had a deal in place at the start of this year, but after a game or two they all payed up. Now there's a $2 "local sports fee" line on my monthly DirecTv bill, which hadn't been there before. So now I guess I'm paying $48 a year to see Laker games on t.v.

Chris Paul is good at the end of games. He ha permission. Players that aren't as clutch should think twice. ;)Seriously i rarely have a problem with Kobe taking the final shot. It's his hero ball the prior 48 minutes that drives me nuts sometimes.

Not sure how you get that from Abe defending the D.

Also, watch the play again. No double team at all. There's a little help from Arthur but only after he's by Allen and doesn't have time to dish it. Conley stays in range of Crawford and everyone else is straight up on their men. You know why? Because the Grizz know Paul is smart enough and good enough to dish it if he sees a better shot. Pull a clip of a Kobe last-second shot and let me know if the defense looks the same.

I don't love the iso, but I can live with it in a tie game because keeping the ball in one guy's hands limits the possibility of a turnover and losing in regulation. Otherwise that's not hero ball at all. That's Paul getting off a good shot based on his reputation of being the opposite.

Marc Gasol will be named Defensive Player of the Year, according to multiple reports.
It's well-deserved for Gasol and a win for those who are a fan of analytics. Gasol's defensive statistics aren't eye-popping by any means, but his presence in the paint and the way he's able to defend can't be understated. He is the Grizzlies' most important player and it's nice to see the big man get recognition in the form of the award.
Rotoworld.com

I had no idea Gasol was that good of a defender. Interesting
He sure was knocking the crud out of everyone near him last night. He was doing as good a job of sticking with Paul off switches as any big man I've seen - and better than the Laker guards ever have.
