*NBA THREAD* Abe will be missed (5 Viewers)

"The only team in the playoffs with a losing record, but they're much better than an 8 seed"

No #######, they do deserve an 8 seed, they are playing like an 8 seed, & their opponent is awful.

Zero chance the players won't boycott if the owners settle and let him transfer to his kids. That's a non-starter for the players.
That seems odd. Is there any reason to believe his kids are racist?

The players probably need the support of the other owners to boycott for any length of time, and there's no way they'd support a boycott of an owner in good standing, as young Sterling would be.

Transferring to the kid with Donald's ban keeping him away from the team and games seems like a fine enough solution to me.
Well the wife's racist, so she's out. From Lebron to Kevin Johnson to you name him, the players have made crystal clear they want ownership in new hands. Heck Stephen A Smith is reporting they may reconsider boycotting games next week if the owners start to drag their feet.

For the first time in a long while, the players actually have more than a little sway on how this will turn out and it won't take much for guys like Baron Davis to threaten that they will file for a hostile workplace and potentially blow up the franchise that way.
I find it difficult to believe baron Davis has any sort of hostile work environment claim.

What legal experts seem to disagree on is not whether Sterling can sue the NBA (he can), but whether he can get an injunction to stop the sale until the lawsuit is resolved. If he can't get that injunction, then this story will go away for most people- Sterling will be in a lawsuit, but the Clippers will already be in somebody else's hands, and the NBA will continue along it's merry path.

On the other hand, if Sterling could get an injunction on the sale based on a lawsuit which could take a year or more to resolve, all hell's going to break loose. Can you imagine if training starts in September and Sterling is still the owner? What will the players and coaches do? What will the NBA do at that point?

Also want to add regarding the sales value of the team: the big ticket item is the TV revenue, which is about to be re-negotiated for some huge sum. That's the profit that makes even a billion dollar sale potentially very profitable for the buyer, whoever that is.

Why the hell is Vogel continuing to start Hibbert? The starting lineup came in after he got 2 fouls tonight. Once they were in, the Pacers took over. They won tonight in spite of Vogel.

Evan Turner nice game! :waves:

Hibbert with 0 points and 2 rebounds combined in these last two games. :lmao: :lmao:

Seriously though how is this possible. That guy dominated the playoffs last year.

Personally, I think the Thunder are pissed and finally get their stuff together tonight and get this thing back home to break Memphis' heart. The Pacers may do the same thing, but they have deeper issues than the Thunder....I have much less confidence in them.
:coffee:

Vogel is so unbelievably stubborn. It's unreal. Their best lineup against the hawks is West at C, Copeland at the PF, George at SF but defending League, and then Stephenson and Hill. Although I'm also OK with booting Hill to put George at PG, Copeland at SF and Scola at PF.

Good stuff from the Thunder tonight. Memphis couldn't hit the broad side of a barn. Inserting Butler for Thabo was a nice move by the legendary Scotty Brooks.

Hopefully Conley is ok and ready to go on Saturday.

Agreed. Perhaps the most I've ever seen a guy fall off for no apparent reason, ever, in any sport.

In defense of Vogel, Pacers won't even sniff the NBA Finals without Hibbert finding his game. He has to keep trotting him out there, and praying for a resurrection.

More ticky-tacks on Lee and Green just like the rest of the series. Jordan shoves Lee under the basket and Lee gets rung up.
I was just gonna ask if it's been reffed like this all game. Didn't catch the first half, but in the last 4 possessions they called goaltending on Lee when Jordan touched the ball on the rim. They called a ticky tack foul on Green and then they called Thompson for a foul after Deandre shoves Lee under the basket on a rebound. Don't like it.

Yep. Game 3 and 5 were called like this as well. The refs are taking Green and Lee (and Speights) out of the game on touch fouls.

It hasn't been like this all series. Guys are hacking Griffin every time he gets the ball with few calls.

I haven't noticed any hacking on Griffin yet, but I've noticed a few times that Paul and Curry have been hand checked and bumped like crazy while dribbling. I hate it when refs are inconsistent. You call touch fouls on bigs, yet allow the guards to maul each other. Makes no sense.

Just as I say that both Lee and Griffin get hacked with no call on back to back possessions and then Griffin gets called for a weak touch foul on a Green pass.

Griffin is a massive flopper (head jerk on every drive pretty much), so I think there is a bit of boy who cried wolf going on.

Warriors got two BIG calls down the stretch.

1) Griffin's 6th on Iggy's 4 pt play. He just touched him on the hip. I see refs let that go all the time.

2) Reddick's 6th on that block call. That is about as 50/50 a call as there is. JJ is sliding, but Barnes lowers his shoulder into his chest.

Those are 2 tough breaks that lead to 3 points in a 1 posession game.

Griffins 6th has been a POE for over a decade. An elbow/knee/hip tap on a jump shooter gets called more often than not.

Reddick was going down before the contact, you can tell by the way he lands. If he waits and takes in the chest he will slide back, not go splat straight down.

Is it me or would mike dantoni have a little success with his offense using players like Ricky Rubio and Kevin love? Would he be a Minnesota candidate? Less glaring spotlight then his last two jobs for sure.

I don't think anyone is allowed to ever question calls in this thread. Something about the bylaws say the calls even out over time or some such...

As you have demonstrated time and again, people are welcome to post any stupid thing they want. It's just that others are equally free to call out stupidity.

It'll be interesting to see how he performs in the 2nd round (if they make it). Matching up against Gortat should be right in Hibbert's wheelhouse. It isn't hard to see that Antic is a tough matchup but there is no excuse for being this useless.

I guess we're ready for the Pacers Wizards series.
:lmao:

I have no quarrel with the Pacers.

They were both called correctly. I don't consider correctly called fouls as tough breaks, but that's just me.

Will this be the most game 7's ever in the first round? 3 tomorrow. 3 game 6's tonight with 2 of those teams having home court advantage in game 6. It is rare to have 6 game 7's throughout the entire playoffs, let alone in 1 round.

Shows how great these playoffs have been. Love it.

True, but he does get the crud beat out of him legitimately (with not so many calls) as well.

Rubio can't shoot though.
It'd be interesting to see what he could do with the Warriors. I don't think he'd get them farther along in terms of winning due to his inability to coach D, but the scoring would be off the charts.
