Right. I think todem said 4/40 which is silly.I don't think too many people chimed in very much until the claim that Wade would get re-signed for 4/40 aka playing two years for free.

Yeah it was silly….but I never for a single second thought that Wade was opting in. Because that meant Lebron would walk. And there are still talking heads thinking even after the opt out's and Bosh's impending opt out (highly doubt he opts in they have to space it out give it some semblance they are all not doing this lock and step although we know they are) Lebron may leave anyway.Right. LinkJames' teammates want to work with Miami president Pat Riley on re-signing with the team at lower financial figures that would allow management to retool with the roster with upgraded talent. Because of James' value as the best player in the NBA, the Heat players understand James' desire to seek maximum contract value, sources said.
What in gods name are you talking about?Todem... You really need to settle down. For a no 1 fan of a team that's made 4 straight finals, you sure know how to play the underprivileged victim.

It's more surprising that the Bucks would want to give him the job IMO.Bucks job actually wouldn't be bad. Ow expectations, talented new draft pick, rich and enthusiastic owners.
God I hope not...Will the Raptors offer Lowry the max?
I think that is what he will get (11-12/yr). No idea who from.God I hope not... Anything over 3/$36 or 4/$44 is too much. Will the Raptors offer Lowry the max?
I wonder if there might be a bidding war, particularly if LeBron, Bosh and Melo re-sign with their current teams. There are a lot of buyers this year.I think that is what he will get (11-12/yr). And stop acting incredulous about your work building the dynasty into the victims of the league
But who needs a PG? LA, Houston (Mchale and Lowry didn't work out so well previously), NYK (Calderon and Lowry together again!), Atlanta if they decide Teague isn't their guy, Dallas maybe though reports say they aren't interested.I wonder if there might be a bidding war, particularly if LeBron, Bosh and Melo re-sign with their current teams. Toronto, Miami, Houston, Dallas, Lakers were the teams I was thinking about. Maybe you're right and most of them won't or can't overpay but it only takes two. I don't understand why Dallas is rumored not to be interested. Seems like a perfect fit.But who needs a PG? I really question that Miami will get enough cap space. Maybe Lowry takes $9m there compared to the $10+ he'd get anywhere else. Houston ended so poorly that I can't see that being an option but who knows. IMO it's LA, Toronto and Dallas. Dallas with the best shot at winning (though you could argue Toronto has just as good of shot of going further in the playoffs. East vs West). LA because it's LA and Toronto because they'll likely pay the most and he's "the man".Toronto, Miami, Houston, Dallas, Lakers were the teams I was thinking about. :XNo Lowery in LA. We'll take Chalmers on a minimum deal.
What's going on here now?@MrMichaelLee: Story keeps growing.. RT @ESPNSteinLine MIL & BKN have begun discussing potential compensation to free Kidd from last 3 years of contract
I wonder what the Nets are going to have to send to Milwaukee.
If Chalmers goes for the min, I would think he would stay in Miami? Seems like he will get a slightly better offer from someone. No Lowery in LA. We'll take Chalmers on a minimum deal.
Rumors are that Kidd had the MIL deal in place before he asked to be president.Kidd wants to be president of a team. Russian tells him to go #### off. Kidd reaches out to MIL, or vice versa, and there is mutual interest in him coaching and becoming president of the Bucks. He is under contract for 3 more years in NJ, so they are discussing compensation
He isn't going anywhereCan't believe with all the PG discussions that there is no mention of Patti Mills. He wants to be a starter somewhere. Hopefully no one wants him. I'd love for him to stay in SA.
Well eventually, Hinkie will be judged. I do think Hinkie is getting a bit overrated. I like what he has done and I have more faith in him than DiLeo or Thorn but I don't think he is above reproach. But 76ers fans are like the UK fans of the NBA (granted NBA rebuilds take a few years). They have "won" the last two offseasons and have tons of hype/potential so they are excited.I'm really not criticizing the strategy, and I don't disagree with what you are saying. What people are failing to acknowledge is that in the NBA you either have elite talent and are a contender or you are not. Its not like the other leagues where a team can come from nowhere, make a push in the playoffs or win a championship. For years the Sixers were the mediocre team that flirted with the playoffs and then were pushed aside. They were an absolutely dead franchise for quite a long time and there was zero light at the end of the tunnel. Sixer fans now can at least see an opening and have some hope thanks to what the Hink has done.I really don't have an opinion on the Sixers strategy, and Lord knows, I have no clue how those picks will work out.
Bu I do think it's funny though that Hinkie gets the automatic genius tag, and nobody's going to be able to judge him differently as long as nobody ever touches the court.
He's pretty much the GM version of Exum, who's stock shot through roof from simply going away for a year.
It's an interesting phenomenon, what's happened with NBA fans over the last few years.
It's just interesting how much good will a GM can build up by simply delaying judgement day.
Most of these players will be busts, but from the time they are drafted until they hit the court, there's great hope. We're all dreaming about how great these guys are.
80% of the time, those dreams will come crashing down. Most of us will get to start seeing our bubbles burst within 6 months.
Look at draft grades, nobody gets worse than a C, unless they really take somebody far out of the presumed order (an order determined by people that miss badly every year)
Sixer fans will just get to hold that hope indefinitely, and Hinkie will be loved all the more for it.
I really would like to see Lowry just stay in TOR.I really question that Miami will get enough cap space. Maybe Lowry takes $9m there compared to the $10+ he'd get anywhere else. Now of course, the odds of everything coming together perfectly are slim. Not sure where you get 80% from. But even then, the 76ers have what, 4 lottery picks in the last 2 years and at least another one next year. So the odds of all of them being busts is just as low as the odds of them not getting a few non-busts. Odds are that eventually one of these guys becomes an All Star type player and worst case is that you have 3-4 high rotation guys on rookie contracts. And I think that is what people hope for to attract a big name FA. They should have enough cap flexibility to sign a max deal or even enough assets to go after the next Love/Melo/Harden type.
Now Hinkie is in the perfect spot to do what he wants and Grantland was right when they said this has never been done before. The owners don't care so twice, the 76ers have been able to take value in #1 picks who dropped. And for good measure, they also got good value on Saric. But this has ensured another sub 25 win season. So sure, the 76ers won't know what they have for a few years. You seem to think that is a bad thing but the good thing is that if these guys are good, you up the chances of getting more talent around him. Of course I'd rather have Wiggins but if Wiggins/Parker are that good and they draft McDermott instead, that team isn't much closer to a title than the current 76ers but they probably win 30+ games thus hurting their draft stock next year.
Now attendance/viewership will be abysmal. But I don't mind b/c I'm much more likely to watch an OKC/Houston game than a random 76ers game. So whatever makes them exciting in the future is good for me. I don't envision them as title contenders in 2-3 years but I think they'll be an exciting team on their way. I'm much more inclined to watch a young/exciting 76ers team struggle than watch Igoudala or Holiday take them to a 4 seed. I imagine its similar to OKC fans several years ago or current Wizards fans with Wall/Beal.
Mills is more of a hybrid guard then a point guard. He fits in with San Antonio because they have multiple hybrid guys who can play both positions. Can't believe with all the PG discussions that there is no mention of Patti Mills. He wants to be a starter somewhere. Hopefully no one wants him. I'd love for him to stay in SA.
Well I'm not sure what real players were still on the board at 10 (actually 12)? As someone who didn't like McBuckets, the pickings were very slim. And 2 weeks ago, Saric was in everyone's top 8 (maybe top 10). So what is the difference now? He can't come over right away? Why does that matter for the 76ers? He dropped for some teams b/c they are in contention now but I don't think 2 years matters a ton for the Sixers. Heck, he seemed like he wanted to come over but Hinkie said it'd be two years.Like I said, I don't disagree with the approach.
It's just interesting how quickly he became a genius, when the only pick he's made that we can begin to judge is MCW, and MCW wasn't even in the Top 10 in WAR among the worst draft class in NBA history.
It was a nice pick, but let's not all go sucking eachother's cocks off just yet.
And the Saric thing, maybe that really is "great value". But he better be a stud. The EuroStash used to be reserved for 2nd round picks or teams drafting late because they just have so many good players that they just don't have room for a rookie.
Maybe the LottoStash is really becoming a thing, but doing it with the 10th pick in one of the NBA's deepest draft is a curious move.
It kind of feels like EuroStashing was called underrated so long that now maybe it's a little overrated.
I could be wrong, but I think the only LottoStash's in the past are Rubio and Vasquez, with CHI coming close with whtat's his face, and whoever ended up with the guy BOS took last year around 16.
EuroStashing with real players still on the board is a pretty new phenomenon.
Universal cheering for a EuroStash at 10 might've been the most interesting development of that draft.
Curious, but obviously all that matters is if Saric is a stud or not.
http://sports.yahoo.com/news/suns-to-pursue-lebron-james--carmelo-anthony-with-offer-for-them-to-play-together-163546302.htmlCan't help but think the Suns could be major players this summer in free agency. ($37 mil available; almost 7 mil more than the next team & not a bad contract on the roster)
The little contracts they have are with guys that can play & produce (Dragic, Morris Bros., G.Green, Plumlee, Archie Goodwin) and/or can easily be dealt (Alex Len) & hold the cards on Bledsoe. Not to mention they've got 2 picks in the Top 18 this year.
it's much more then who is picked. Hinkie also works with what he has very well. He (hopefully) robbed the Pelicans blind if Noel and Saric can do something on the court, and he pulled a pretty sweet move with the Magic this year. He did a real nice job dumping all the bad contracts and the guy's on the roster who were not helping the team go forward. Maybe he could have got more for Evans and the rest of the guys he shipped off last trade deadline, but outside of that i feel like almost ever move he has made has benefited the Sixers more than it benefited any other team. I also think this is more rewarding for Sixers fans considering we haven't felt on the right side of trades and deals in a loong time. Hell, i can't remember feeling like we ever "won" a trade. Most of the moves the team has made have been garbage (Barkley trade still stings), and we finally have a GM who seems to on the right side of most of the deals he is makingLike I said, I don't disagree with the approach.

The Big 3 were just spotted eating SALAD together. No chance of them breaking up. You don't understand the culture and special family in Miami. They ATE SALAD TOGETHER. You don't do that and go to separate teams in offseason. No chance.Juxtatarot said:It's odd that the Heat players didn't announce their decisions at the same time. It makes me think that Haslem and Wade were promised more long term money and decided to stay regardless of what the other two decide. It's clear that both of them want to retire with the Heat. LeBron opted out early because he knows that basically any team will do whatever he wants if he signs with them. There is no risk to him. Maybe Bosh is hesitating because he thinks LeBron might not come back?
They're going to have to at least up his contract. He made a little over a mill. When Neal left after the 2012 season after having a good playoffs like Mills, he signed for over 3M.Abraham said:He isn't going anywhereTxBuckeye said:Can't believe with all the PG discussions that there is no mention of Patti Mills.
