Had this sitting around for a while and recently made boban in myplayer.

I noticed in the storyline that they make your character sound ghetto. Its pretty over the top and i realized how offensive it is.A little slang peppered in here and there is ok but they make the black characters sound like a minstrel show.

Has anyone else noticed this? Agree or disagree?

Thus far the only white character is the GM who speaks like a GM.The coach is black and a bit more toned down unless you have a lousy practice or game.

Granted i havent examined all the combinations but the way they portray the black players is really out of line i think.

Im not black and it noticeable to me.

Of course not and i understand what you are saying.

Im just suprised the NBA allowed them to portray players and other characters in this way considering they want to supress the thug image.

It's kind of weird because everyone is portrayed both as a caricature but also ultimately sincerely dedicated to your player (the ridiculously named "Frequency Vibrations")'s best interests. So you have a hanger-on dragging you down who the story eventually wants you to feel sorry for. You have a ridiculous Italian agent caricature who nevertheless is the right agent for you. You have a noveau riche tech boom dude bro owner who's advice is actually right. Because it's Spike Lee, you also have characters constantly shoehorning discussions about how important two parent families are into nearly every scene.

Haven't really gotten in to the story much. NBA2K really needs to be able to catch up with the show and allow you to bring your my players from one game to the next. I get that it would cut into the story they try to tell with these games, but who plays enough games to get their guys to the HOF every year? I don't want to get my guy to the hall by simming games. I want to play them, but I don't want to start over every year.

This is all accurate. The "storyline" is blessedly short though. You're done with all that fairly quickly.

The real problem is in year 2 when your guy is rated like a 74 but you play 48 minutes a game and go for 40-15-10 every game.

Yeah. I had to play ten minute quarters and be more of a distributor

So my teammates get realistic stats.

It looks ridiculous when your starting PG playing 28 minutes a game is averaging 2 points and 9 assists

I was excited for a new story driven myplayer with a delayed progression.

The storyline has pulled me out.

I love basketball and always loved the cool and hard players. The true legends. Gentlemen off the court and junkyard dogs on it.

I was hoping for that experience in this game but its deplorable

Glad there is a good champion like steph curry. And despite how i hate lebrons BS game i think he is a very good role model and an asset to the sport.

Its obvious nobody from the NBA took more than a glance at this game. They let a bunch of suburban programmers squander a golden oppurtunity to expand the sport in what i would consider a level of parity that basketball has needed for a long time.

The NFL is heads and tails above the NBA in this regard and its a big reason it is the greatest sport on earth.

Yes... funny thing is, I think there were 3 different voice types to pick from for your character. And they all sounded pretty much the same.
